The people who manage our school's computers apparently don't mind that I'm constantly using the administrator password whenever I need to do so. Even though they explicitly forbade it in the agreement everyone had to accept to get an account.
i'm in nearly the same situation, except in my case just about everyone has it and the techs are unable to give even one single fuck
Well, I guess the school I only went to for a month doesn't really count. So let's say I've been to 4 schools. I went at oestrigsgade skole (Now called lergravsparken skolen or some shit) from 0th grade to 2nd grade. Then I was transferred to Sankt Annae Gymnasium because my mom thought oestrigsgade skole was a bad school. I went there for a year. Then I went to zahles, repeating 3rd grade, snd then I was expelled in 7th grade. So yeah.
How old are you?
15

Not technology related or anything, just a rant. Ignore this if you don't want to read my rage inducing (for me anyway) post. So at band rehearsal this morning everything went pretty well. I was walking up to my cubby to get my case out and put my trumpet up, but my case was on the ground and I remember putting it in my cubby this morning, but that's not all, someone broke my case and keyed my Stradivarius, now I'm pretty mad, at whoever did it, and at my school for not having fucking security cameras in a room with more than $1 Million worth of stuff. Upon closer examination the handle has been cut with something, it's missing two sections and it's uneven, even more pissed now. Now my $4,000 Trumpet has a big deep cut on the lead pipe as well. So after school I had to drive an hour to go buy a new case, which ended up costing me $75, which was going towards my PC parts, as such, I'm mad. /rant
that's a lie warship is 9 heard it here folks

Oh so close to 2,000 posts I shall make the 2,000th post in this thread [editline]26th October 2011[/editline]
[thumb]http://db.tt/4ELoUbxi[/thumb] :v:
But that's the new xbox it can't get the red ring :v:
[thumb]http://db.tt/4ELoUbxi[/thumb] :v:
That's what happens when they keep it in that stupid enclosure with almost no ventilation Talking about that, i went to currys the other week and had a look at some stuff The XBOX demo was in that stupid casing, no air holes and when i put my hand on it, it was like putting it on a hot radiator, not kidding.
I'm going to be doing a series of benchmark videos at this resolution as well as trying to run games off the 2600k IGP. Anyone interested for me to post a topic on it?
Fail. RMA in lane 4. Where was that Xbox Demo anyways?
In a Target.
http://www.lockergnome.com/blade/2011/10/26/why-has-the-viewsonic-7-tablet-priced-at-199-99-gone-unnoticed/ This article does raise a good point. Why have we not heard about this tablet?
If I bought another RAM stick does it need all of the same properties and specs as my other ram sticks or will any DDR2 (mine is DDR2) be fine?
If I bought another RAM stick does it need all of the same properties and specs as my other ram sticks or will any DDR2 (mine is DDR2) be fine?
Technically, no - the motherboard will detect the proper settings to use. However, if your new RAM is a lower speed or higher latency, it will cause the RAM you already have to slow to match it. Same if your new RAM is faster - it will only operate at the slower RAM's speed. (This is assuming, of course, that both are on the same channel - if they aren't, they'll work independently)

My mobo only supports like 4gbs of ram.
So I was browsing the windows 7 forums when... http://www.sevenforums.com/member.php?u=110576 Oh god no no no no no (no) never again.

Just throwing out something for the thread, in high school my Computer teacher asked everyone to check to see if they had a "fox fire" program on their computers, because it was a virus made by hackers.
And this is why if I could ever afford a strad I would never bring it to a public school.
6 other people have them.
Just throwing out something for the thread, in high school my Computer teacher asked everyone to check to see if they had a "fox fire" program on their computers, because it was a virus made by hackers.
go up there, call him the FUCK out, the tell the front office about his illiteracy unless "in high school" means "many moons ago" instead of "about a month ago"
Because x86 sucks. It's got so much crap and shit tacked on that it barely holds together sometimes. None of the modern processors from Intel/AMD are actually x86. They're a more logical, usually RISC, design, with a translation unit attached to the instruction fetcher so it can emulate x86. That, however, contributes to x86 chips' high power draw and heat. Seriously, look at some of those things. 100+ watts is considered insane for a consumer-level product in every other ISA. PowerPC seems to work a lot better. It's powerful enough (unlike ARM), but not too expensive (unlike SPARC and PA-RISC). And it actually works well (unlike Itanium). There are a few other decent ones - MIPS has been used before, and ESi-RISC is looking promising - but they may have supply issues. IBM is good at producing a ton of chips. Plus, IBM is pretty good at making customized chips for one product. I have a hard time seeing Intel or AMD designing a special CPU just for one system. As far as I've been able to find, only two consoles ever used an x86. The first was the XBox, which was basically a cheap PC with a weird BIOS. The other was the Wonderswan, a Japan-only handheld. The Wonderswan used a truly ancient processor - a 3mHz, 16-bit V30, essentially an underclocked clone of the 8086, despite coming out around the turn of the millennium.
so why don't any major manufacturers make a processor on an alternate architecture that is as fast as a modern x86 processor and doesn't cost an arm and a leg and maybe a testicle?
So guess what I did today. I've been getting tired, tweaking balance on Project Horizon. It's long and slow work. So I decided to do something about one of my other game ideas. The idea is basically "steampunk shmup browser game". It's pure Javascript and HTML. No Flash whatsoever (and there was much rejoicing) Since I never really did much with Javascript, I wasn't actually sure it would be able to do it playably. I'm happy to report that it runs just fine, constant 60fps, until you get about 1200 objects on screen. Since I plan to make the exact opposite of a bullet hell shmup, I don't think that will be a problem. It took about an hour and a half, including figuring out how to do timing loops in Javascript and gameplay testing. 200 lines of code, and it's playable. Has scoring, a difficulty curve (enemy spawn rates and fire rates increase over time) and a timer. It's not really how I actually want the gameplay yet, but it's a basic proof-of-concept to say both "this game will work with this technology" and "this game will be fun". If anyone wants to give it a shot, here's the first version. Don't judge too harshly - that's pre-pre-alpha stuff. The graphics and colors are placeholders, the gameplay is rough and unfinished, and there's more features missing than existing. But hey, not bad for an hour of coding. I'm going to keep fiddling with it for a while, maybe get it playing how I actually want it. I'm actually thinking it may become my "buy GMan a new computer" fundraiser project - it's pretty much perfect for putting on Facebook/G+ and all the app stores, and it's small enough that I could feasibly actually finish it. Anyways, that's my current mini-project to give me a short break from tedious testing and tweaking. Although I do have "Capstone Project" next semester, and this would be good for that as well. Hmmm...
