Let's do the math here.
OS X 10.1 and Windows XP released pretty much the same time (10.1 was September 2001, XP was released to manufacturers in August and to consumers in October).
10.1 was a free update to 10.0, so I'll use the price for that instead. So you start at $129 to get to 10.1. I can't find the upgrade price for the older versions, so I'll generously assume they're all $39.99 (the current price for 10.7).
That's a total of $370 to keep a current version of OS X.
XP Home was $99 at launch (from what I can find).
Upgrading from XP to Vista Home Premium was $159.
Upgrading from Vista to 7 was $119.
Total price: $377
Yes, everybody needs to switch to Mac! You save a whopping $7/decade!
Also, you could stayed on XP this whole time, things are only just starting to lose support for it. You could save the updates in between and just go straight to win 7 after win 8 release, when it'll be cheaper.
My laptop looks like a bomb.
I 10 or so cables connecting to it of different colors and lengths just so I can make it as close to my desktop as possible.
Who was the user that scammed money to buy a computer on facepunch?

His name was either a bird or a dinosaur, but I can't remember it exactly.
Go show him the MBA vs Asus Zenbook.
$250 cheaper and outperforms it, plus you can hackintosh it if you so desire.
And you lose all Apple support for the OS.
It's not like you need Apple to solve your problems
It's still nice to know you have someone thereto fall back on if something comes up.

He made $35 for a Core 2 Duo!

I never heard about this Zenbook thing so I decided to do some research.
11" or 13" screen, SSD, SB i5 and a 7 hours battery life. That sounds pretty damn nice, let's look at the price-
DEAR GOD IT'S 999$

This, but this motherboard, this RAM, and a GTX 460 instead of that GPU.
I am excited, even though this is going to be my family's downstairs desktop, cleverly disguised as a gaming PC.
Would this be able to run Battlefield 3 on decent settings?

Yeeeeeee... i3? Why?
Squeeze in $100 and get an i5.
25 Minutes.
AHHHHHHHHHHH
It's my dad's money and he's reluctant to spend over 700 dollars, but that's nothing a little convincing can't change. Already had the i5 in mind, too!
You're at $610, the i5 will be $100, so $710 if my advanced calculations are correct. Why not chip in your own $10 for a lot more performance?

$10 isn't that much over
So I just spilled milk on my mouse, and mouse1 isn't working. How to fix?
It's still nice to know you have someone thereto fall back on if something comes up.
Because Asus doesn't have a 2 year warranty that covers almost anything :downs:
I fixed it
Dear install/download times. I hate you.

Ohohoo... You don't know my dad, then.
Also, iirc Newegg is stationed in California, so I also get tax on top of this.

Depends on the state. NYS doesn't have online tax. Also, they have a location in New Jersey as well.
so guys, who has skyrim? I'm running close to 12 hours of gameplay already (bought game played leak)
... I'm probably the only one on the entirety of Facepunch that wasn't interested in Skyrim at all. It just didn't spark my interest.
Only reason I played through Oblivion was because of all the mods to play with, then I dropped it right after finishing it and Shivering Isles.
Edit:
Please note that I'm not saying I dislike it or anything, looks friggen' awesome, but I just wasn't interested enough to get it.
I've never played any of the elder scrolls games, really.

Halfway downloaded. Went to the midnight release so I could walk out of the store and scream like a Nord.
