Are you allowed to use Bootcamp?
It comes with the super locked down Windows XP, replaced that with Win7 Ultimate. And TBH i can't get it to boot from my debian installer USB. And i don't want to burn it on a disk. I ment he should probably put some Linux CLI on it, i don't see a dual xeon useful as a desktop?

But you forget he got it for like $20.
I know, but then why not turn it into a linux server..
Because he's stuck on a shitty laptop. All he needs to do is get a new GPU and he has a really nice desktop.
Why bother with a proper GPU as long as it's running OSX?
So he can use bootcamp, install windows and not be locked down to low/medium settings on his laptop?
wont he need a "special" gpu for that mac?
wont he need a "special" gpu for that mac?
A lot of AMD Cards just work in Mac Pro's and if they don't all you need to do is flash the BIOS on them.

New firefox "no favicon" icon looks shit. How do I get the old one back?
So, I had Skyrim preloaded. It decrypted and then crashed on startup. Three times, different settings. Verify game cache did nothing. So now I'm redownloading it entirely. If that does work, remind me not to preload ever again. If it doesn't, fuck you Bethesda.
Happy Binary Day, guys.
Awww thanks for creating a day dedicated to me, I love you all~
Bethesda is content. Setting the default sound format in Windows to 16 bit 44.1 kHz fixed it.
There's always problems with games when they come out, it seems. Just like Portal 2 that could only run from the C: drive. They fixed it, thankfully.
I told my friend to not fucking start up skyrim if I'm not present. Too bad it was to be available from 1:00 am earlier today. Solution? He now lives at my house for 5 days and I can watch him play skyrim :v: He brought his computer as well, which I recently helped him build cheaply. It's got a Phenom 955, an Evga GTX 280 (with some factory overclock), a spinpoint F3 1TB and 8GB cheapish RAM as he will be doing a lot of video editing. The GTX 280 is my previous GPU (which I gave him as a birthday present) And jesus fuck the stock fan for the Phenom 955 is the loudest damn thing ever D: Well anyways, it runs Skyrim very nicely in 1920 x 1080 as long as we keep the AA to 4X and put the overall view distance to 80% (I couldn't notice a visual difference on that though) Also holy shit in the very start of the game when [sp]Alduin appears, and does a dragon shout that changes the sky suddenly and meteroites start flying about.[/sp] That moment was awesome in combination with my hugeass speakers. I don't have the money to buy the game myself yet, but I will do so when I can.

OpenOffice torrents are slow too. And i've turned the encryption thing on that should prevent the throttling
Happy 11/11/11 I would have taken a screenshot 11:11 but I missed it
Not that this is extremely related to the topic, but I just took this snip off one of Denmark's most respected newspaper's website. What.
Happy 11/11/11 I would have taken a screenshot 11:11 but I missed it
Take this 12:12 11/11/11 instead. [editline]11th November 2011[/editline] Also, i want to add a non steam game to steam, so i get steam ingame and is now playing etc, but the problem is this game needs to be run as administator. How can i make steam do that? :v:
So, I was going to find a HDD for a friend. Holy shit those prices.
Pepper;33138006']Look at what i've got to repair :suicide:
I did that a week or two ago. WHY WONT THAT HEATSINK COME OFF?!
I did that a week or two ago. WHY WONT THAT HEATSINK COME OFF?!
It's most likely soldered on, god help you

How can i make steam do that? :v:
Check what exe it is that steam loads, set that exe to always run as admin. Steam runs that exe and it is automatically ran in admin mode. Let's say I want to have steam show it if I have spotify running. You then find the exe, go to compatibility and set it to admin mode. And done.

I bought MW3 instead of BF3 but that's just ridiculous.
