Since when will a closed loop and an aftermarket heatsink for the GPU perform as well as water? Never, that's when, and that's why people do it. Plus with watercooling you've got it for the long haul, all you need to replace is gpu/cpu blocks as you upgrade and possibly a new radiator so it can work out cheaper after a few years, although a lot of high end cooler manufacturers (Noctua stand out) are upgrading their heatsinks with new mounting hardware, so it might make that statement negligible.
I wasn't aware a custom watercooling rig performed that well, Still my Arctic cooling accelero extreme keeps my unlocked and overclocked HD6950 at 70 degrees under full load so I don't know why you'd want to spend the large extra cash on watercooling since it's not gonna overclock much more anyway. When I get a new graphics card I just buy a VRM cooling kit for $5 and move the cooler to the new card. To correct my previous statement; While a custom watercooling loop will outperform anything, the advantage over air/closed loops for the steep price of entry does not make it worth it in my mind, but I won't say too much as I haven't done any proper comparisons. I'd love to be proven wrong though, a custom watercooling loop looks kick ass.
Surly you mean this
Hnnnnng.
It isn't very exciting what the hell are they even talking about?
I wish that VGA card would hurry up and arrive, I want to get Windows 3.1 installed!
Meanwhile, on Steam: I wish my right ear didn't get infected now too, can't play Skyrim because wearing a headset starts hurting after a while.

I don't get why no one on facepunch has a set of speakers anymore.

I couldn't live without my Wharfdales, I bloody hate headphones. [editline]13th November 2011[/editline]
1) Stereo speakers are expensive if you want good ones 2) 5.1 and 7.1 is shit
FTFY.
FTFY.
Oh look at me, I have no location awareness, aren't I hip and cool? Hey, wanna listen to some rap and dubstep together while we do drugs and drink alcohol?
So don't wear a headset...? I don't get why no one on facepunch has a set of speakers anymore.
I have speakers! 2.1 and it is not set up properly because no room. Headsets are more comfy and do not disturb others. That is why I use them. My sister uses some nice speakers, what my amp can't feed properly, fuck. It is fucking weird to hear her listening dubstep sometimes. But she hasn't listened to music loudly now. My friends usually use speakers. One has a not properly set up 5.1 system (Bass is on the desk, the two back ones are right next to him). One uses 2.1 system and one uses a proper-ish 5.1 system. (Bass is on the floor, the back ones are behind him but not in the other end of the room and yeah) but he afaik, uses headphones more.
I play with a pair of USB laptop speakers, it's not a big issue.
Oh look at me, I have no location awareness, aren't I hip and cool? Hey, wanna listen to some rap and dubstep together while we do drugs and drink alcohol?
You have two ears, not 6.
You have two ears, not 6.
You can still distinguish the direction of the sound based on volume levels even with 2 ears. You however cannot simulate audio coming from multiple directions with 2 speakers that have been set-up properly. A lot of headsets have certain tricks up their sleeves for this, but they're not possible for speakers, as I have understood them. Not to forget my parents and my neighbours would go fucking nuts if I started blasting dragons at 3AM.
Not to forget my parents and my neighbours would go fucking nuts if I started blasting dragons at 3AM.
Use a bit of moderation then. If my brother with his 200W speakers can remain relatively quiet, you can.
Use a bit of moderation then. If my retard brother with his 200W speakers can remain relatively quiet, you can.
I could punch through the fucking wall with my fist if I wanted right now, no amount of moderation is going to turn a thin wall into a 10-meter thick reinforced steel wall.
CIPWTTKT&GC v15: "If your speaker setup isn't identical to mine you are inferior"
A lot of headsets have certain tricks up their sleeves for this, but they're not possible for speakers, as I have understood them.
If it is a stereo headset it has absolutely no way of knowing whether the sound is infront or behind of you. There is no trick which will pull that data out of thin air. And any such trick would be defeated by not having your headphones on straight.
I use my headphones more because i don't think my family wants to listen to games and music.
Master race. I switch between them as I want: Mostly I use the speakers (It adds something to the music when my desk vibrates to the beat, heh), but when I'm gaming or on Skype, I use headphones.
Pepper;33260448']I use my headphones more because i don't think my family wants to listen to games and music.
If you're using speakers at that volume, I'd wear earplugs to avoid hearing damage. I mean, I'm using my computer in my bedroom with ancient 2.1 speakers (not set up properly) and a headset, and I honestly use my speakers for everything except for skype. I can walk away from my PC with music on and not be able to hear it from outside of a 5m x 3m room. I have to keep my computer volume at 3% and the headset volume on minimum when using it, or it's way too loud. Don't know what's wrong with that thing, maybe I just have easily agitated ears.
So don't wear a headset...? I don't get why no one on facepunch has a set of speakers anymore.
I have two soundcards :smug: First one is hooked to my 5.1 speakers and are used for games etc, the second one is hooked up to my wireless headset and is just used for voice.
I have my PC volume at maximum at all times. Amp has its own volume control. And it is usually at 3-9. That is a big difference (Well, it goes from 0-31) but some videos are louder when others quieter.
My friend is RIGHT NOW playing skyrim, and his PC is connected to my HUGE-ASS stereo speakers. Sounds hella good and since you can control the volume (:O!!?) we're not pissing the neighbours off either when playing at night. Stereo speakers are great.
Some call 5.1 speakers a gimmick, but i really like them, especcially in gaming. You can clearly hear when a sound is coming from behind you.
Pepper;33260448']I use my headphones more because i don't think my family wants to listen to games and music.
I do this too, except when I have friends over and it's not late.
I always use my speakers as I lack a nice pair of headphones. What are some good cheap ones? :v:
