I'm going to get hell for saying that, aren't I?
Probably, yeah.
Never likes XKCD. SMBC has always been the superior comic in the "Comics that try to be smart" genre to me. [editline]16th November 2011[/editline] I'm going to get hell for saying that, aren't I?
no because XKCD is pretentious bullshit, half of which feels like it was written by some asshat taking highschool psych
I have Donald Duck comics from the 60's, I win.
Why is it in some games my monitor says the game is not running at the monitor's optimum mode, which is 1920x1080 60Hz, when my games are set to that. It mainly happens in Crysis 2, GRAW 2, and sometimes Skyrim. Anyone know what's going on? My graphics cards are two XFX 6870s and my monitor is a Samsung SyncMaster SA300.

Indeed. [editline]16th November 2011[/editline] What.
1920x180 60Hz
I'm thinking your vert resolution might be off. :v:
Typo :v:

Try looking in the monitor's menu while it says what it says, and find out what resolution it thinks you're running at.
Maybe your games are running in 59Hz or some weird shit like that. Try looking in the monitor's menu while it says what it says, and find out what resolution it thinks you're running at.
I can't access the monitor's menu when the error message is up. Normally I can alt-tab twice and it would work as a temporary fix since I have to do it each time I play Crysis 2. I can't alt-tab GRAW 2 and I can't find a config to edit so I can lower the resolution to the default. And Skyrim takes a few seconds to fix itself, sometimes the error never happens.
I grew up on Playstation so I'm much better on PS3. I even choose Logitech over the 360 controllers for that reason.
I grew up on a Playstation too but my hands got bigger and now the small controllers are uncomfortable, And bigger off brand PS3 controllers aren't any good at responding half the time.
I grew up on a Playstation too but my hands got bigger and now the small controllers are uncomfortable, And bigger off brand PS3 controllers aren't any good at responding half the time.
Weird, I never found them uncomfortable. Guess it's a matter of opinion.

And what's so funny about Gopher support?
Weird, I never found them uncomfortable. Guess it's a matter of opinion.
The way my middle fingers go behind the R2 and L2 buttons they get squished under there but I can't use my middle fingers to press R2 and L2 because of how akward it feels, SO basically I have to squish my fingers to play and I can do that for about an hour or 2 but then it gets really bad and then I cant do sh**.
And what's so funny about Gopher support?
Nobody uses Gopher [editline]16th November 2011[/editline]
The way my middle fingers go behind the R2 and L2 buttons they get squished under there but I can't use my middle fingers to press R2 and L2 because of how akward it feels, SO basically I have to squish my fingers to play and I can do that for about an hour or 2 but then it gets really bad and then I cant do sh**.
Maybe your hands just are massive, then :v:
Nobody uses Gopher [editline]16th November 2011[/editline] Maybe your hands just are massive, then :v:
yup, it just started when i hit puberty and everything started growing ( including body which includes hands. )
Don't haikus go 5/7/5? Because if so, how the fuck does the haiku-compliant part work? And what's so funny about Gopher support?
I believe it's supposed to be pronounced: Div class equals main Span ID equals marquee Blog! Slash span slash div And considering that no major browser natively supports Gopher anymore (Firefox dropped it after 3.6, IE after 6.0, Opera, Safari and Chrome never supported it), it's a waste of time. And not something most people would even think about, which is why it's funny.
Don't haikus go 5/7/5? Because if so, how the fuck does the haiku-compliant part work?
I think it's meant to be pronounced Div Class equal main span I D equal marquee blog end span end div Edit:god damn
I just got the "The process is good, but the implementation is retarded"-feeling. Going to encrypt external with Truecrypt and set up a Backtrack VM on it just for the heck of it. And I downloaded Truecrypt over HTTP. I mean, if someone really wanted to get to my bloody external HDD, the easiest way would probably be to offer up an infected version of Truecrypt to me instead of the regular version when I download it. Then again, nobody wants access to a bloody Backtrack VM, so it doesn't matter, but still, it gives you that feeling of stupid. [editline]16th November 2011[/editline] 6 hours to encrypt the drive. Fuck.
Every day is full of small victories The feeling you get after finding out why Rsync could not connect to my server Also the feeling of being Linux Illiterate :v:
Looking for a nice universal charger http://www.amazon.co.uk/Trust-Compact-Notebook-Adapter-PW-2120/dp/B001DY40DA/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top y/n
So I see steam's downloading at 1.6MB/s, thinking it is another visual bug I checked the text at the top of the download window which usually shows the correct speed, same thing. Look at my router page, BT upgaded us from 8Mbit to 20Mbit magical stuff which we weren't supposed to get until February

Some content. I was looking through a gift magazine and I spotted a tablet. I read through and on the features list was "social networks". In the full description it said 'Includes Facebook, Twitter, etc'.

FTTC doesn't use standard ADSL modems, it requires a special VDSL Openreach modem hooked up to a router and also requires an engineer visit to fit a new mastersocket faceplate. Also, BT don't do a 20mb fibre package, only ADSL2+.
no because XKCD is pretentious bullshit, half of which feels like it was written by some asshat taking highschool psych
I love how people either love XKCD, or talk about how extremely pretentious and "try-hard" it's being because they don't understand half of it.
I love how people either love XKCD, or talk about how extremely pretentious and "try-hard" it's being because they don't understand half of it.
It's comics like these that are try-hard. When he sticks with computer jokes the comic can be alright. [editline]16th November 2011[/editline] But unfortunately he doesn't.
it's pretty easily understandable, most people pander to it and are amazed at the simplest of things just because they're overly verbose at times and try to act 'mysterious' when in reality they're basically just posting what anyone with a proper education in technology should rightly know.
