Okay, I've tried /arch/setup, arch/setup, /arch/setup/, aif -p interactive, but none of it seems to work. They all moan at me about "cd:2 arch/setup/ invalid or corrupt filesystem". If I press enter to just boot into whatever, it hangs at "System has 64 possible interrupts" and just doesn't seem to do anything after that.

The interrupts thing just needs a good deal of waiting, I think.
Alrighty. Thank you, internet detective and/or genie!
People that are hanging on the interrupts thing were whining back in 2009, so I imagine that's had a kernel patch since to fix it. What version are you using, the 32-bit PPC one? By the way, to boot from CD, hold down C while you flip the switch. If that doesn't work, report back with your OpenFirmware version (hold down APPLE+OPTION+O+F while you flip the switch)
If I am running arch in a live VM, will I need to reinstall it every time I unplug the USB drive? I am using livelinuxusb.com
If I am running arch in a live VM, will I need to reinstall it every time I unplug the USB drive? I am using livelinuxusb.com
Why are you using a live USB image in a VM? Install that shit or use the install media (which doubles up as a live system)

Yes, it's 32 bit PPC. Seems to be an all in one disc though.

Any subversion will do.
Woo, this craptop doesn't have enough RAM to virtualize. I guess I will have to bite the bullet.
By the way, do you have a live installation of OS10? Any subversion will do.
Completely OS X free I'm afraid. Powerbook 1,1 1.0f BootROM. That's all it says, other than some build dates.

If you are able, it is recommended you update your Open Firmware before proceeding. If you have the newest firmware, you may have to direct Open Firmware to CD bootloader:
boot cd:,\\yaboot

Don't ask me for how you do that, use goooooooooooooooooooogle.
Don't ask me for how you do that, use goooooooooooooooooooogle.
Right, but I can get into Yaboot, and I can get to the Linux screen, but it hangs on the interrupt thing. I'll try anyway though.
I have 450 dollars to put together an HTPC for my parents. What is a good HTPC case for an ATX mobo? Something that sits horizontal, too. Cabinet top, i think it's called. It needs to be like 60 USD. And here is what I have so far. [t]http://dl.dropbox.com/u/13038989/htpc.png[/t] CC?
Any recommendations for cd burner?
There are no available OpenFirmware updates for the PowerBook G3 Lombard. Guess I'm stuck with this lemon then.
Well here we go. Burning Arch to disk now.
Well here we go. Burning Arch to disk now.
Try and install it on a VM first.
Try and install it on a VM first.
For practice on the real deal?
Yeah. The install process is fairly complicated, not THAT complicated, but still difficult. It'd be best to practice. I learned that the hard way. Twice.
Is there anyway to add networking to VB after installing, or will I need to uninstall then reinstall?

Well hah, that craptop is so bad, attempting to install arch makes it fail. Ubuntu live mode didn't work either.

I had to argue with a whole clan about how their "20k FPS ULTRA-GAMING 1337 MACHINE KICK-ASS NOLAG CHICAGO" server was totally unneeded. Even after showing them the Valve Developer Wiki page describing Source's networking, they still said "it's impossible to bhop on a server with less than 10k FPS"
