Server FPS is quite a different thing than the speed your GPU can process images for your monitor to display.

We're not talking about how many frames a server can render every second but the number of packets it can send to clients every second.
The maximum settings are 100 packets/second, upload and download. That means 200+ packets/player, not counting the loss but that shouldn't happen if you have a decent connection and your settings are correct.
Considering a Counter-Strike scrim team is 10 players, 5 players on both sides (I'm not sure about that, never played CS competitively, only TF2 :v:), that's a total of 2000 packets that can be sent and received at the same time. Very far from the server's (fake) 20 000 packets.
The thing is, Valve isn't retarded and their netcode is optimized not to reach that kind of load so it's probably not going to happen, especially in Counter-Strike where there are next to no entities to synchronize across the server.
It's mostly a marketing tactic to get all those "pr0-gamers", I actually did a test : I bought a Brohoster (back in the JWJ days) TF2 server, 512 FPS. I did a few PuGs on there with friends. I put 10k FPS in the server's name and they couldn't believe it was actually a 512 FPS server when they played.

Yes they are, especially considering most GPSs who advertise their server as "100 000 000 000 000 00 FPS" don't actually give enough resources to the server to reach those "speeds" :v:
Oh and guys, if your computer isn't plugged in a surge protector, do it. Seriously :
Lightning struck pretty close, my computer and screen shut off but the router was plugged in directly to the wall.

Fuck youtube.
So I was digging up my old Zyxel modem and router since the Thomson gateway my ISP gave me is locked down harder than a a fucking prison and forwarding ports is as confusing, difficult and painful as trying to fist yourself while doing a handstand.
Anyways it's all setup and started working beautifully within seconds. While digging it up though I found my old Creative Fatal1ty headphones that I replaced a good while back with a pair of sennheiser HD380 pro's that I replaced weeks later with my current headphones, a pair of modded Sennheiser HD558.
Since I now have a taste for proper audiophile headphones I decided to try the fatalities to see how they hold up. So I plug em in, start one of my favorite songs and...

It's bloated as fuck and the mid-range really surprised me, in that there isn't any.
Fucks sake these are terrible, not only that but after having over-ear cups for so long putting on a pair of on-ear headphones was akward as hell.
But then again the price has dropped significantly so bashing them for being bad isn't as fun anymore as they're approaching appropriate pricing.
I say approaching because the lowest I could find them was $40 and that's still way, way too much for this piece of shit.
Looking for a new laptop for a friend, is this good for the price?

His budget is 5000 swedish crowns :v:

Better CPU, and I'm pretty sure the GPU is, too. Anyway, it's an Acer, so quality isn't as great as the ASUS.
6650m and 540m are pretty much equal but the i3 will outperform that AMD by loads. I have that CPU in my school laptop and it's very snappy, but the fact that it's an acer means you shouldn't get it. Acer laptops are horrible in almost all respects, HP laptops are better but overheat and HP handles their warranty and support like idiots.
If you're after a laptop for general usage, Asus really is the way to go even if you have to pay a bit more than similarly specced HP's or Acers, you win out on quality and warranty in the end.

They're perfectly good. They had some real stinkers years ago, though the quality has definitely went up substantially.
His budget is 5000 swedish crowns :v:
I read that as 500 initially.
5000 is better but still :v:
I don't have too much experience with laptop brands. Posting from my Acer netbook now, which I've had no problems with at all. I have never even had any crashes on it. On the other hand, I've seen an older Acer laptop that was absolute crap.
[editline]14th July 2011[/editline]
But yeah, I've always recommended Asus to my friends and they were happy with the computers they got
Huh, didn't know they had ISPs in the afterlife. Or computers for that matter. How's yours?
I need a new keyboard that doesn't ignore keystrokes :v:
I just saw the most retarted website design, ever.
Today I woke up to the screams of my mom raging at her laptop : She can't connect to the bank's website. I go check it out, I can log in just fine but nothing is displayed on the page, I click around a few times and it displays an error message about an Office 2012 .dll being non-existent or corrupted
How is that even possible, a website that expects their users to all have Office 2012 installed to display anything on it...

Nothing wrong with Acre laptops. I've had my Travelmate 5520 for 3.5 years now. No problems what so ever. (Except that it came with Vista. :v:)
I even played Crysis for the first time on this. (min specs of course)
Final PowerBook Update:
Gonna try Debian again, netinstall this time.
So, Is this a good deal? http://www.komplett.se/k/ki.aspx?sku=622989, its 736 USD/531 EUR-
