My old motherboard (A MS-9803 M-ITX) is a moody bitch. Pretty much since I bought my new computer (in the spring) I've tried to get it working. Today, it suddenly made a frankenstein on me, and booted up. I turned it off, and tried to plug in some shit, and for the next half an hour it wouldn't do shit fuck. Then I got it to boot up, and since then it has worked precisely as it should, turning on and off with no problems, and it's actually booted into Windows 7 right now. I'm stumped, really. I'm probably gonna use it in a case mod I planned 1.5 year ago, and gift it to some extend to my little brother. I'll kill him if he starts to bitch about computers and other gadgets again, though. I grew up with a Game Boy color, and got a pretty shitty pc in fifth grade, he's in fouth and he's been using my computer and PS2 since first. He's bitching and moaning about how the other kids in his class is using smartphones and PS3/XBOX 360 - no one in my family has a smartphone, and he's (yeah, well, probably ) been using a much better rig than any of his classmates since forever. I don't get it, really, me and my brother lived through "worse" and we didn't bitch all the time.
Got a Crystal Original Xbox for £15 yesterday, works nicely. Now to find a copy of Splinter Cell and an Action Replay... thing! :v:
If you have the game, you can just make a USB > Xbox controller adapter and put the memory card in the controller, load up the action replay software and then copy the save file that way. Another way (Which I used) is the hotswap method. It's complicated and you have to piece a bunch of software together (Find Xbins downloader, it will make things a lot easier to do, compared to the FTP and IRC method).
The hotswap method goes like this: Download some software and run an installer to make an ISO. You burn the ISO to a disk and put it in your computer's optical drive. Unplug your hard drive, get a somewhat long IDE cable attached to your motherboard and boot your PC off the CD. Open up the Xbox, remove the HDD and set it close to the computer, attached to the Xbox with the IDE cable loosened. When you bootup the Xbox, you have to remove the Xbox's IDE cable when the Microsoft logo pops up at the bottom of the screen, then plug it into your computer and run the software on the PC.
Sure, I could have ordered Splinter Cell off eBay, though that isn't any fun is it? I had to do it anyway to upgrade the Xbox hard drive, which was twice as annoying.

While it may not be realistic, it's how I feel around my family.
Someone buy me one of these:

Haha, oh man. I just noticed that I haven't updated my graphics drivers in like forever. I was still on 253 or so - just patched to 285.
Wonder how many performance/crash problems that will fix. Or cause.
I will attend a DEFCON before my heart stops beating.
Right, now I just need money. Damn.
Guess I'll go when I'm like 30, with a job and shit.

This guy wanted to know how to update drivers for his friend for BF3, unfortunately the problem runs deeper than that...
What's a better investment for a gpu for this computer?
Specs:
ASUS P5Q3 DELUXE/WIFI-AP LGA 775 (Crossfire only)
Intel C2Q Q6600
Crucial 2GB (2x1GB) DDR3 1066mhz
Western Digital Caviar Blue 160GB 7200rpm
BFG 550watt psu
Antec Nine Hundred SE Silver
Buy one of these off a friend for $15 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814150467 and then pick up a second one for about $70 later on as a local shop
OR
Save up a bit more and get one of these http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814150564
I only have about $90 to spend on this computer and I don't know when that'll change. Kinda spent spent a lot of money lately as it is.
I'm going to be possibly using this monitor http://shop1.frys.com/product/6693894?site=sr:SEARCH:MAIN_RSLT_PG which is 1366x768
The second one is reasonably high performance I think (I don't know ATI cards I try to avoid them)

I might do this with my wii too
Didn't mean to rate dumb
Did this to my wii
I still don't play it.
A few days ago I found that my torrents were going very slowly when more than a few connections were involved. I also was disconnecting from Steam every once and a while.
Turns out my router was overheating, so I put a tiny amount of thermal paste on the chip, found a small heatsink in my junk box (Was attached to a PCB from a broken HP LCD monitor) and hot-glued it into place. It seemed to work, though I noticed today that the casing was getting pretty warm, which is due to the tiny vents in the sides. I fixed that by drilling a bunch of roles in the top cover. You can't see them in that picture, since I just finished drilling the holes.

It might have worked better if I had used something like thermal adhesive, though I checked Newegg.ca and found the cheapest tube of the stuff was $20 with tax and shipping. Considering I paid $25 for the router, that would be a waste of money.
Exams are over, fuck yes
Birthday today, yay for me :toot:

Good job on the fix but am I the only one who finds it hilarious they made such a large case for such a tiny pcb? I especially love the clear plastic to direct the LED's to the front. All of it reminds me of those pics of someone buying an external hard drive and finding out it's a USB memory in a case.

Taste too JPGish, would not eat.
After days of searching for help on the performance issues of skyrim, someone mentioned uninstalling realtek sound drivers and reinstalling new ones. I just did and look what feature now came up...
Doesn't specifically say headphones though.

I find it quite amusing how motherboardorg on youtube is playing Skyrim on a 590, while my 570 can max it out easily..
Motherboardsorg is such an idiot. I can not contain my rage when I simply hear him speak about hardware spewing shit.

Try unplugging your headphones, then plugging them back in. When you plug them back in, the driver will ask what you plugged in. If you select headphones (If your realtek is similar to mine), it lets you enable dolby headphone and the headphone amp

Its fine to be an Apple fanboy as long as you don't let the Apple Reality Distortion field mess with you sense of bang for buck etc.

Not always.

That's what I normally do, and did it 3 times.
