Reading through the Mac mini page, holy fuck they overhype their shit :v: Apparently being allowed to use any keyboard, mouse and monitor is a feature only this has. And ooh, thunderbolt, the thing you bought from Intel and proceeded to claim how revolutionary your new connector is
I like the fact that it only draws 13 watts of power at idle. Plus how small and silent it is. Plus it runs OS X. I'll just end up having to buy the magic trackpad and their wireless keyboard so I'm not having to plug 4-6 cables into the back of the thing.
That's the only reason you want it. I think somewhere at Page 1 post 1 it says no fanboy-ism am I right wingless?
A:
Blind hatred or fanboyism: People who say Macs suck are stupid and wrong People who say PCs suck are stupid and wrong "Macfags suck because apple sucks and they think they're better rage rage rage." "PC sucks cuz Mac is better."
I see no blind fanboyism in my post. B: Shut the fuck up. Lets not fucking derail the thread again because I like one thing and you find it fucking retarded. Bring it up in PM or profile messages if you're really that offended by it.
I wish CIPWTTKT could go a page without a form of drama.
I wish CIPWTTKT could go a page without a form of drama.
Then we'd probably not be CIPWTTKT
I wish CIPWTTKT could go a page without a form of drama.
We can get that easily When Deeps is offline
(Why do I feel like I'm feeding a fire?) Now that's just plain rude.
No, you're just not that good at posting.
He could of just said that with out "STFU" and causing more drama. [editline]23rd November 2011[/editline] He could of just said that with out "STFU" and causing more drama.
You could stop going onto nothing, but I don't see that happening, either.
Oh man, I feel so stupid. My room has been known for being notoriously hotter than the rest of the house (90F in my room, while it's 70F in the rest of the house). We always blamed it on being right where the sun is pointed, having bad airflow, etc etc. I just found out the real reason. When I built this computer a few months ago, I ran the initial tests to make sure everything was fine, Speccy reported my temperatures being pretty decent, nothing looked odd. Over time though, my room got warmer, and we didn't notice until it was 20 degrees hotter here than out there. I finally thought to check my Speccy temperatures again a few days ago. My mobo and CPU were at 90C. It turns out, the heatsink on my CPU wasn't on completely. I pulled it a little when I put it on to check if it was, but I guess it wasn't, because when I looked at it last night, it had a thin layer of dust separating it from the CPU, and the thermal paste on the two appeared to have completely split (so that the heatsink and CPU weren't even touching). Now my room is a comfortable 70F, and I may have just saved my computer from melting. I feel fucking silly.

I dropped my old computer once from a chair. I checked the insides and everything looked fine, but then I booted and it overheated in 50 seconds :v: Turns out the heatsink was loose. This is the same computer that got to 100c with the stock cooler.
Because we don't have enough stuff to do at work experience, our manager made us do a "computer aptitude test" Considering one of the ~super hard~ questions was "What is a megapixel", I did fine. We had to make a good custom PC build. During this, another person doing the test called the Radeon HD3450 "high end" :suicide:
Forgot to mention that in one of the staff only rooms, someone put up this :v: I lol'd when I saw it.
THERE IS 1 ISP that does unlimited, but it's going on the 4th of December. And it's $100 incl. Phone line.
$100 is cheap as hell compared to anything else
Until I get a heat gun, I used the temporary fix with a penny and a quarter pushing up against the GPU under the motherboard. It works now, except the hard drive was sticking. So I did something I never thought would work: Manually starting a hard drive. I started the laptop and when I heard the HDD motor trying to get the platters to spin, I spun them with a screwdriver in the middle of the platter (Where it connects to the shaft, no data stored there). The drive picked up speed and loaded OS X, somehow. [thumb]http://i.imgur.com/uQZJZ.jpg[/thumb] I have it all back together now, and I checked the computer out further. The RAM was upgraded to 384 (I saw the 256 MB stick, I assume 128 MB is on the motherboard or somewhere other than under the keyboard). Unfortunately, there is no Airport card, though they're only $10-ish on eBay.
it's more shocking to me that it works at all with an uncovered hard drive than it is that starting it with a screwdriver worked. your house must be clean as fuck [editline]23rd November 2011[/editline] that or the write head is a mile away from the platters either way wtf [editline]23rd November 2011[/editline]
My parents suck at communication. My mom, as you know, offered my step dad a 64GB iPad (which he refused because he's like a Southern redneck version of Stallman) but refused me an entry level Mac Mini. I called my dad on Skype today and we started talking about Christmas/technology. He asked me if I'd chosen a color for my iPad(what I wanted before the Mac Mini). Apparently my mom told him I wanted an iPad so he was saving up for that... :wtc:
redneck stallman? that sounds awesome

My oh my a freind of mine bought a pre-built gaming PC (He's one of those people who knows they are crap at computers) He offered me a tenner to install a new GPU when he gets one.
I've been reading the bastard operation pages: http://bofh.ntk.net/BOFH/index.php Funniest shit I've read in a while.
Apple are officially dicks. We have about ~1000 Macbooks at school. About 100 of those are 2008 C2D's, the other are unibody C2D ones with a nvidia 9400M. About 75% off all the unibody ones, are having problems with the screws falling out of their sockets, the screws that hold bottom plate in place. And Apple is refusing to sell us a few 100's of those screws so we can fix it ourselves.
~high quality official apple screws~

Hurr Durr, tight school budget, must buy most expensive computer. I know Apple offer educational discounts, but surely it still prices them more than a regular laptop?
The education discounts drop it to as much as any Dell.
Well, some our teachers got a Dell laptop. :v:
Well, maybe Apple is not lying when they say their products are magical :v:
Definitely not this product, I think the failure rate was something like 50-70% because of that ATI GPU becoming loose. The shitty fix (Which I did until I find a heat gun) is taping a quarter and a penny under the motherboard, which is working now. I can't say how reliable it will be though.
Why does that fix work?
It presses on the chip, making contact again i guess.
It's because you're giving it money, and it being an Apple product it's only natural that it helps.

(sorry, just had to) Surely they'll be fine with some regular laptops (If not then maybe business class ones), and the little shits can take better care of their loaned laptops?
