I'm totally up to playing some CSS and such.
If the Tremulous community didn't suck I'd be more than willing to get the server set up for it. Because it really is a helluva fun game.
..Password it? :v:
Fucking love CS:S, I'm down for it.
What should I do with my computer while I'm out of state? I'm thinking TF2 Idling or something.
here be list https://docs.google.com/document/d/1nadSg1kSFrFa2ur-KrfZAisOSb4pn9Q9N2h8sq_97mo/edit?hl=en_US
FUCK YES Q3A! Please don't Punkbuster it because I can only play with ioquake3, which doesn't support it.
Fucking love CS:S, I'm down for it.
Ehh, Only deathmatch, as the rounds get fucking long usually and I die in the first minute.
Ehh, Only deathmatch, as the rounds get fucking long usually and I die in the first minute.
Yeah, that's what I hate about Counter-Strike (and one of the reasons I hate TF2, for that matter) - you tend to spend WAY too long doing absolutely nothing, waiting to respawn. If I ever make a multiplayer game where spawns need to be spaced out so much like that, I'm going to make sure you're at least able to do something. I'd probably just have you spawn way back from the front lines, so you spend a while walking up there. Or maybe let you take on some support role - aiming off-map artillery while waiting to respawn, for instance.
So like, as an example, say someone in CoD has a pavelow in the air and you die, during the randomly long respawn you can control it?
Yeah, something like that. Or at least control a mounted gun on it. I'm also a fan of having something to do during long loading screens. For Project Overture I'm planning to have cutscenes play during loads - you can skip them as soon as the game loads, but it at least gives you something to watch. Or play a minigame of some sort that's thematically related - like refilling all your clips with fresh ammo, since a) you usually start with full ammo after loading, and b) they rarely explain how you always have topped-off clips. Or maybe just a little rhythm game set to the game's music - imagine playing Ocarina Hero to the Zelda music while loading, or something like that.
Ehh, Only deathmatch, as the rounds get fucking long usually and I die in the first minute.
Noooo. Vanilla CS:S
Man, I just discovered that my server was running apache, I want to know why and how. I never installed you, oh well. Atleast... I swear to god my server is becoming sentient, It installed Hamachi the other day (long story, failed, deleted everything and then after a while I discovered it was working even when it wasn't after I deleted the shit.) [editline]15th July 2011[/editline] My servers newly gained sentience is creepy as fuck. [editline]15th July 2011[/editline] I for one welcome my new server overlord.
Apache sets itself up that way immediately when it's installed so if it came with the distro then it's not surprising.
I didn't install it with Debian. I specifically unchecked that while installing and never installed it, I would use Nginx.
I didn't install it with Debian. I specifically unchecked that while installing and never installed it, I would use Nginx.
Maybe it came with something else. When I installed smartmontools for checking SMART data it installed e-mail software so it could send automated emails if a drive was failing.

CS:S wasn't meant for deathmatch, works tons better that way. And put cs_militia on there, so underrated.

Wondered why my php5-fpm / nginx setup wasn't connecting to MySQL servers, spent over an hour wondering why error logs weren't working and then realised that php5-mysql wasn't installed. I feel stupid.
Oh man. The comments on this /. article are freaking hilarious. tl;dr: GNU HURD finally has a release date for "late 2012/early 2013", with a release of Debian to be based on it instead of Linux. I remind you that jokes about HURD being behind schedule date back to 1992. Choice comments:
Duke Nukem Forever actually gets released and now Hurd? Pinch me I must be dreaming!

Must be the fault of the LHC. It keeps destroying all the highly probable universes. So now the only universes left are ones where DN Forever and Hurd both actually see the light of day. Next up: - Irrefutable proof that OJ is innocent. - Irrefutable proof that Casey Anthony is innocent. - OJ and Casey Anthony get married and have a child; and both her and the child live to old age. - Chicago Bears win a Super Bowl Man ... the universe is becoming a really scary place!

BSD userland on top of GNU Hurd. "What the hell do you call an OS like that?" "I'll call it 'The Aristocrats'"
"What the hell do you call an OS like that?" An core OS for Windows to run on top of, in the future

I'm still calling it Linux! Because I think an angry Stallman is a funny Stallman.
What Next Ep 3? ... :smith: [editline]15th July 2011[/editline] I wonder if it will take off like Linux, I mean so many damn Distros, the HURD Pre-Release shit has only a few distros.
HURD is finally being release? Holy fuck. What Next Ep 3? ... :smith:
Checklist of things to be released shortly before the apocalypse: ● Duke Nukem Forever ○ GNU HURD ○ Half-Life 2: Episode 3 ○ Infinium Phantom ● Remake of Ocarina of Time ○ Starcraft: Ghost ○ Shenmue 3
Someone send an email off with that article saying something like "First DNF, Now HURD, We need Ep 3" [editline]15th July 2011[/editline]
Ghost would be a disappointment anyway, I mean console only? Really Blizzard. The phantom is essentially useless because of Steam and most consoles have a web store that make it's principal obsolete. I gave up on Shenmue 3 ages ago.
You forgot Noteslate :smith:
That will be coming soon actually, they nearly had a working prototype last time I checked.
I have 450 dollars to put together an HTPC for my parents. What is a good HTPC case for an ATX mobo? Something that sits horizontal, too. Cabinet top, i think it's called. It needs to be like 60 USD. And here is what I have so far. [t]http://dl.dropbox.com/u/13038989/htpc.png[/t] CC?
No one? I mean, this could spark a conversation about AMD's new APUs.
That will be coming soon actually, they nearly had a working prototype last time I checked.
That's what they say, I'll most certainly order one if they are ever released.
Grooveshark asked me if I wanted to renew, I didn't. Instead, I paid 10 Euros for the premium version of Subsonic. So far, it's awesome. You install it on your computer (I put it on my Ubuntu Server), then you can stream music or video to any web browser with flash or Windows Phone 7, iOS or Android. You can only stream video to flash-capable browsers, so capable Android devices are the only mobile devices that can do it. It works really well and they have a fully functional demo on their site.
(and one of the reasons I hate TF2, for that matter) - you tend to spend WAY too long doing absolutely nothing, waiting to respawn.
There are tons of servers with instant respawn, just play in those servers instead?
