Do we have an overclocking thread? I feel like I'm not getting where I want to go. Plenty of these guides have conflicting information.
I've been looking for guides for my 2500K but none are really that helpful. An overclocking thread would be handy.
I read some topics that say to disable X, Y, and Z, and then some say that you need X, Y, and Z to overclock.
Exactly. And a majority are made for certain motherboards which makes them pretty useless.
So my (china) 360 controller isn't working properly anymore That's with the left stick all the way up. Playing Skyrim is impossible now since my character barely moves. How do I make it see that as full up?
On the first tab of that dialog should be a button to calibrate your controller. That should do it.
I'm at 4.2ghz. Set to 1.36volts. I turned back on those auto features that downclock, since I want a 24/7 speed. CPUz reads 1.056volts but I have it set to 1.36, is that vdroop? I want to get to 4.5... I did notice that in Skyrim in a specific scene save I set up I went from 52fps to 60fps going from 3.4 to 4ghz [editline]27th November 2011[/editline] Perhaps I should be happy with 4.2. It raised my skyrim FPS about 20%
Can anyone recommend me a good monitor thats around $250 CAD? Preferably under. I want a second monitor and I want to start getting into photo/video editing and such. I'd prefer if its on NCIX, but if I need to order from newegg I'm fine with that.
I'm at 4.3 now at 1.35, though it's vdropping to 1.260. I've been using load line calibration to keep the droop low, but I'm torn with if it's good or now. I'm told that it's good because it keeps the CPU safe... but, I don't know. Should I leave LLC off? I want to get to 4.5 so I'm checking wherever I can for info.
Playing minecraft with David Tennant. His accent is boss.
I'm at 4.4, going to try 4.5. Then I'll start testing as I bring down the vcore. I'm hitting 69c after a couple minutes of prime95. This while, according to an updated CPUz, 1.356v idle and 1.280v load
http://hackertyper.com/ I'm a real hacker now.
Currently 4512mhz, 1.308v under load with Prime95 with SmallFFT 66c, 69c, 69c, 68c. I think I'll take off the ULNA adapter on my NH-D14 and retry it. If this is stable, which would be fucking sweet. I'll reseat it with new mX4

[editline]27th November 2011[/editline] fudge In that case I don't think your cooler is seated properly. I was barely hitting 40C @ 1.33V, with a Venom (worse than the NH-D14), so something's not right.
NH-D14. Yea, I haven't been pleased with it. I think I'm going to reseat it. I'm using MX-4 TIM
He also now owes me a game. Crashed his server.
I tried loweing vcore by raising the LLC to level 5 and lowering vcore to 1.330, but all that did was eventually bring my load vcore to 1.332 and cause temps to rise to 72c. Seems to be just as stable as 1.360 and LLC level 4, which technically has 30mv lower vcore under load. What the fuck.

My CPU ran up to 100 degrees in Prime95 without overclock :wtc: Found out that I haven't tightened it enough :v: And also, I removed a drive bay for better airflow and put the case fans to the mobo instead of the fan controller in the case, and BAM. 10-15 degrees colder :v:
Ok, I'm on LLC level 4 at 1.360, I think. Now my vdroop is 1.320. Temps are 71c. Tomorrow when I wake up I'm going to reseat it and take off the adapter to see the difference. It seemed plenty stable when it was hitting 1.308v.
He also now owes me a game. Crashed his server.
You didn't crash shit.
http://ark.intel.com/products/52214/Intel-Core-i7-2600K-Processor-(8M-Cache-3_40-GHz) Tcase is 72.6, and the CPU won't go into turbo when it's near this (to prevent itself from overheating).
That worried me so I shut off my system and took off the ULNA adapter on my NH-D14, and unsurprisingly my system sounds even more like a jet now. The cooler was rated at 19db or something crazy low on the normal settings I thought. I thought this was one of the quietest cooler, but it's now crazy loud to me. The idle temps are a few degrees lower it seems though. Maybe my CPU fan port is making them run too fast or something, not sure.
My CPU fan is really quiet when it's not plugged in, obviously something is wrong with the fan connector

Ram Prime95 for like a minute and my system crashed, lol. Back to my original 1.340 which leads to 1.308vcore on load, which worked for like 45minutes before i tried going lower. Current temps are at 64, 69, 67, 66.
My internet has went away like 3 times in ten minutes, always with a minute of downtime or so. What the fuuuck.
Got around installing the SSD I bought in september. Blazing fast shit yo'. Now I just need something to put on it.
