I play during lightning storms all the time, as long as you live in a house that isn't a shit hole and is built properly you shouldn't have any problems.
The only thing that a lightning storm has affected over here in the last couple of years was the internet connection
Reinstalling Windows really isn't that hard or time consuming any more. My new system drive arrived earlier today (After my 6 years old Maxtor drive decided to finally die) and after installing the NIC driver and installing all available windows updates three times in a row I'm about done. Now I'm just waiting for Visual Studio to finish installing so that I can start working on all the nice ideas I had whilst not able to do anything.
Steam has Guru meditation errors too :v:
Gaben Meditation.
Huh, I've been thinking about this. How can you reboot, let alone shut down a machine as a normal user in Linux? I mean through GNOME and such. The poweroff and reboot tools require you to be root, but GNOME doesn't ask for a password when you do it. If GNOME is somehow magically running as root, I don't think I want to know.

You could've gotten the map pack in the steam thingy with tickets
If the cabling in your house it well done and you have a surge protector, you'll have no problems during a lightning storm. Unlike me, in a 40 years old house with an outdated, recycled electric system.
I live in a 100 year old house with most of the electrics done in the 60's and 70's. Should I be worried?
fine on my end
Still doesn't work on mine, I get redirected at a random friend's profile or I get the guru meditation error. Odd.
Homefront is a horrible game anyways.
General chat.. Is there a program that i can install to take pictures with my D40 while it's plugged into my computer? I've tried Camera Control Pro by nikon, but no luck.
Homefront is a horrible game anyways.
Isn't it just more heavily scripted, forgettable FPS nonsense?
Isn't it just more heavily scripted, forgettable FPS nonsense?
Yeah, TotalBiscuit was doing a review and its so scripted that he would do things then the game would be like: "HEY ASSHOLE, TAKE OUT THE CHOPPER!" or "He's on the roof, go over there, get that sniper rifle, and shoot him!"
If there is war, isn't the easyest way to just kill the other country by taking away the power? Or just like, blowing up/shutting down all the places where power can come from. Like, all the power plants, cables from other countries and such. The people will surrender easily then, everything runs from electricity and nothing can be done against it, as the smaller power generators for hopsitals, soldiers and such, can not power a city.
A war is won in the back-land, not on the frontllines. That's pretty much been the strategy since WWII, destroy the other country's infrastructure, and you a huge advantage. Problem with the war in Afghanistan, is that we're not fighting a country with a infrastucture we can attack, but a hidden enemy that looks like the civil population.
Isn't it just more heavily scripted, forgettable FPS nonsense?
Just another COD wannabe with a 3 hour long SP that makes no sense at all.
Just another COD wannabe with a 3 hour long SP that makes no sense at all.
It's sad, because it looked like it was going to be so cool. It's not. The most exciting thing I've heard about it is in like the first 3 minutes you watch a little kid watch her parents get shot on a street corner by some Koreans.

Just Kill Bill was in Japan, and it was in a bed.

The most exciting thing I've heard about it is in like the first 3 minutes you watch a little kid watch her parents get shot on a street corner by some Koreans.
That's probably what's worst. Seeing a shit game turn out to actually be shit is nothing. Watching a game that looked really good turn out to be shit is really sad. That's why i'm a bit skeptical to games like Dead island. It looks pretty cool but it's better just to wait until you get to see real gameplay and to read pre release reviews of betas and such And even if it has no meaning on the game quality, That backwards trailer they released was one of the best trailers i have seen in a long time

[editline]15th July 2011[/editline] Also, is the steam chat broken for anybody else?
Yeah, Steam servers are down
Yeah, Steam servers are down
Might have something to do with this: http://store.steampowered.com/news/5856/
In other news, #! time. [editline]15th July 2011[/editline] Fuck me I can't edit for some reason. So, someone on chat was saying the fact Ubuntu was using 600 MB with a bunch of programs open was unexceptable... #! is using 500 with just Terminator and Chromium open :colbert:
It seems that I have only one more thing to find for my new build: The monitor, and I am once again unsure of what to get. My budget is about $200, although I can go over that if I need to. I was thinking about the HP 2310e, which got excellent reviews, but unfortunately no nearby retailers supply it, and I would have to buy it online, which I would rather not do, because if I have to return it I would be without a monitor for a few weeks. It is also a bit above my budget. Do you guys have any suggestions?
