MX 518 master race. The model is apparently old as balls but they keep producing it and it still is awesome.
Has three sort-of-programmable buttons (forward, backward, document change by def, the first two being thumb buttons) plus mouse speed plus and minus next to the scroll wheel.
I love my mouse.
G500 is basically the newer version of the MX518.
you're thinking of the g400 - the g500 is an entirely separate mouse
unless you mean just the newest in that line, in which case you're right. The g400 is a direct descendant of the mx518, though.

This. The G400 is pretty much an MX518 with a far less ugly appearance.
Still, for $40, I might as well get a G500, considering it has some really nice features.

Playing Portal would be pretty hard.
Fuck you ebuyer.
I'm being charged +£8 because I live in northern ireland, and a later shipping date ._.
I'm gonna start using scan now, I think.

Yeah there's tax on being Irish
Scan works out cheaper for the exact same product, AND faster shipping
Is the G500 a good mouse?
I can get it on http://www.logitechshop.com.au/ (a good website according to a friend of mine) for $40.
I love my G500. I've been using it for years and even after I bought myself a G9x, I sent the G9x to someone and kept my G500.
Ok so today I had a stupid problem with my computer and made a help thread about it
http://www.facepunch.com/threads/1146533
I managed to solve it myself, as it happened to be a case of "I function properly whenever I want to" :v:

Found this on some phone specs

How does it work, then? Magic?

the fact that 14% of people in the US have worse internet than what I am experiencing right now with my school's wireless network scares me
it took 30 minutes to get speedtest.net to even load

Also the G500 is a pretty decent mouse (got it as an MX518 replacement once mine broke, courtesy of logitech) although the MX518 seems a bit more solid. I personally like the third side button you can reassign as middle mouse button for comfortable browsing and the little button that lets you go WEEE with the scrollwheel.
My main qualm with it though is that it sometimes skips if it gets a speck of dust in the laser, when the MX518 NEVER EVER EVER skipped regardless of anything. I've made a habit to pick up the mouse every few seconds and blow into the laser when I'm gaming.

Am I the only one who doesn't mind if the enter key is one row or two rows?
Pepper;33643149']Am I the only one who doesn't mind if the enter key is one row or two rows?
I like it best when it's two rows because otherwise my huuge fingers are going to hit every key around it
[editline]9th December 2011[/editline]
Yeah you may wonder how I can even type stuff if I can't even hit a one-row enter key, but one-row enter keys just confuse me
Well, I've finished my research for my report, and the results are definitive:
If you want a PC game, the absolute worst place you can go is GameStop. Highest average price ($59.99, guaranteed!), and only 15% of the games surveyed were available.
You would literally be better off checking Wal-Mart or Best Buy (30% availability/$58.29 average price and 35% availability/$57.13 average price, respectively).
And of course everyone with two functional brain cells is using online because of that. For comparison, Direct2Drive had 70% availability and an average price of $38.16, and Steam had 75.00% availability and an average price of $28.11. And this is with the sampling being slightly biased by including "Skylanders: Spyro's Adventure", a game based around a "real toy in the game" gimmick that makes it literally impossible to be downloaded.
The one game that literally can never be bought on Steam, and GameStop doesn't even stock it. If the rumors of their financial difficulty are true, I can point to "sheer incompetence" as the main cause.
The fact that so many things just cannot be found is sort of worrying. Ignoring Wal-Mart, no other product has less than 80% availability. Best Buy had 80% of the movies I checked for. Barnes and Noble had 85% of the books. Amazon had 95% of the songs. Hell, the Nook store had literally everything I checked for (although $28.95 for the e-book of The Catcher in the Rye is obscene, considering B&N had the paperback for $6.99).
It's like, even tons of classic games are no longer there. If you want to play Battlefield 1942, there's nothing. No stores have it, Steam doesn't have it, Direct2Drive doesn't have it, even Origin doesn't have it. Ebay seems to be the best bet, and that's an unreliable source at best.
It kind of makes me worry that some classic games could disappear.
My local Gamestops and Bestbuys, even Targets, are loaded with copies of 1942 and older games like the Black Hawk Down games.
Pepper;33643149']Am I the only one who doesn't mind if the enter key is one row or two rows?
Dual rows ones are not really common in modern keyboards anymore, and I can't really get use to them anymore because of how rarely I encounters them.

That sounds like some interesting research you've done. How did you select which games/movies/music to search for? Any way to rule out biases there?

I picked the top ten current bestsellers, and ten throughout history (usually perennial bestsellers). Which led to some very odd things in the music, since the current bestselling songs are all modern pop/rap crap (including one song from the last Twilight movie's soundtrack!), mixed with the Beatles, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, and so on.

I always wondered if it was legal to torrent games if you can't buy them anywhere. Is it illegal or is it just a greyzone?

It shouldn't be.
I always wondered if it was legal to torrent games if you can't buy them anywhere. Is it illegal or is it just a greyzone?
It is technically illegal unless the copyright owner has formally released it, or if the company went out of business and no one bought up the rights.
However, nobody will sue you for downloading ZZT or Codename Eagle or Duke Nukem 2.
for downloading ZZT.
Oh thats okay, I just got that running on my IBM the other day, great game!

I went to a store that sells CD's around here. I looked under the Classic section, just to see their selection.
Did they have any classical? Nope
Did they have any classic rock (Beatles, Pink Floyd, Zeppelin)? Nope
They did have an Insane Clown Posse CD under Classics. :suicide:
(This is probably why I never shop at retail.)
