Yeah, so did Jacko.
So I learned yesterday that the overclock on my ASRock motherboard wasn't being applied in windows, I checked with CPU-z. I install the utility to change UEFI settings in windows, suddenly my clock rate is the correct 4.4Ghz. What the crap? Needing a program in windows for a hardware overclock to apply is something I have never seen before.
Two bits of tech news:

CUDA compiler source code released.

First flash storage based super computer.
New fan arrived for my PSU, installed it in about 20 minutes :toot:
My wiring would probably make you cringe though, there's a random cable sticking out the side of the PSU case which loops back around into a molex connector
This is what I did the other day when I was bored:

Excuse me if this is incredibly tech-illiterate, but what did you do?
He pried the heat spreader off a cpu.

Extreme overclockers take the heatshield off, and cool the chip directly.
That's also how they ruined loads of i7's since intel soldered the chip to the heatspreader.

You can even see the circuits :v:

Guess the CPU.
Phenom II x6.
Ever since AMD said they were pulling out of the desktop industry, I've been waiting for the first 12 core tablet processor.

They never said they were pulling out, it was just miscommunication in one of the interviews
I believe they were repriotorizing the markets they produce hardware for.
Oh, that's new to me. Cool I guess, Intel needs the competition.
I've had better luck with EA support I guess. It took me about 15 minutes to get to someone. I wanted a CD key for Mass Effect Bring Down The Sky, since the old site doesn't work anymore. First he asked me for my DLC key, which was the very thing I was asking of HIM. When I posted the address of the site that was broken, though, he seemed to understand and gave me my key.
I'm glad I don't have to contact support often, though. Even with small issues like this, it shows how bad EA support actually is.

areyoufuckingkiddingme.jpg Not again.
sigh
Anyone from the US that wanna get my prices if I win?
Apparenly VIA may be stepping up to compete with intel. I hope so, those intel chips are stupidly expensive.

What are the prizes?

Thinking about it, I'd want that so bad. Is there anyone I can trust to send it to me? :unsmith:
BRT will probably do it for you Warship.
yeah I thought. Maybe I even get to see his dick. But he's not online atm.
But anyway, I told them I'm a US resident now. ~*lying to nvidia all day erry day*~
When I opened my new fan up, I laughed when I looked at the box

Imagine if someone who worked for NVIDIA read this thread.
:tinfoil:
If you can't find a way to get it to you, I have a great project that could probably make use of the kit.
I just got the greatest idea for a power button!

Take a knife, put it in the slit and stab the rubber pad
Sponge and pad make contact, activating the mobo's power
You can stab your computer to turn it on!
Well, until you go through the rubber and straight through your graphics card :v:
I HATE video recording/encoding.
I was trying out Dxtory, and I'm not really that impressed. I have to say that I haven't really tried anything else besides Livestream Procaster, though. At 30 FPS, it was recording steadily but the output video was kinda... awkward. Recording at 60 FPS was not stable at all, but when it did record at 60 FPS, it was smooth.
Then I attempted to transcode the 32 GB 15 minute video to the format YouTube recommends, but when the output reached 15 GB I cancelled it. I tried uploading the original video, but that would've taken ages.
Yeah, I'm not going to try that again any time soon.
So yeah, one of my friends is buying this ugly piece of shit:

Ugh, even if it is nice to type on and to use in general (which I'm not sure about)
It is the ugliest fucking keyboard I know.
It's not even fully mech (Which annoys me)
