One thing about GNOME that disturbs me is, if you kill the gnome-screensaver process when the machine is locked, it unlocks it.
Sure, it's handy if you can't be arsed to type in your password and you have an SSH session open as root on your main machine, but still.
HP has quite an amount of good laptops with good specs to buy. And as stated above, if you have the money, Alienwares are great.
It's because Chris Pirillo is an idiot.
Competition is what keeps the market alive and the prices down.
If Steam would have monopoly over the digital distribution market, then they could raise the prices without any repercussions, since customers who dislike the price increase can either go buy it retail or don't buy it.
Competition is also what keeps the tech evolving.

True, but I wish they wouldn't force us to use a completely shit distribution service to get a great game.
Idle temps don't mean anything, and your idle/load is usually based on the ambient temperature. What is your room temp?
I don't have a thermometer but it's pretty cool in my home and room.
Also, is it normal to go from stock to 4.3GHz and have the temps be slightly lower when running Prime95? :v:
Everything but Steam sucks. And even Steam has some stupid things to it.

Barely any though.

And there lies the problem. I'm getting ME3 and BF3 when they come out and as it looks now, both on Origin. The only small issue is that almost all of my other games are on steam and so is my groups, Friends and other features. Unless Origin boasts the most perfect UI ever designed, A solid program underneath that and a way to basically copy paste everything from steam except Steam itself, Then odds are that i will spend much more time with that and only be arsed to used Origin to launch the programs
Now that i think of it, I wonder if it's possible to create an normal shortcut from Origin and then add it as a non steam game. Hmm

Ill get ME3 on xbox anyways, noproblemforme!
I was given BFBC2 for Origin/EADM, then wanted the vietnam dlc, would cost me 13 euro. Look around a bit and saw it on sale on steam, BFBC2 + Vietnam + SPECACT for 9,99 :V

gnome-screensaver is the lock
you'd need to give it a handler on any fatal events but some of them cannot be caught (kill -9 will kill any normal process at any time, no exceptions)
[editline]17th July 2011[/editline]
or I can't remember what that flag was actually, I think it was -9

You monster!
I think (and hope) EA is trying to get preorders to their origin platform, and will open BF3 for preorders on steam about 1 month before launch.

That will be very decent of them if they do it, otherwise they are no better than Activision in my eyes.

NO. Battlefield 3 pre-order extra's:
Battlefield 3 game
Battlefield 3 Steelbook
Expansion pack - Back to Karkand
TYPE 88 Light Machine Gun DLC
DAO - 12 shotgun DLC
Flechette ammo for the DAO-12 shotgun
Flash Suppressor for SKS Sniper Rifle DLC
MW3 Pre-order:
Modern Warfare 3 game
Heh, I'm playing with an old radio and apparently I can pick up Absolute radio (UK station) even though I'm in Denmark :woop:
Oh and the Battlefield 3 Pre-order with extra's is cheaper than MW3 with nothing.
