So will this 'Trey Songs' Spotify thing last forever, or will Spotify shut down the account eventually?
If it works the same way it did in Scandinavia, Then your accound should not be shut down (mine still up) although they will probably start limiting the service at a later point, introducing time limits and a limit to how many times you can listen to a song per month. At that point the paid plans is probably a better idea.
I'm currently using a free account with 6 hrs of music left. Once it runs out i can use a 30 day trial of the paied service (Premium) and then i'll probably buy the slightly less expensive service (unlimited)
its after spotify.com/ so I assume it is fine. They'll open it up to everyone later so I doubt they care.

I don't think they will shutdown your accounts. But if you have Spotify Free (which you get when you create an account from an invite) you have certain restrictions on the account.
All info below may or may not be correct.
With Spotify Free:
You get ads in between songs,
You can only listen to 10 hours a month,
You can only listen to a song 5 times during these 10 hours,
You can only play music while you have an internet connection.
With Spotify Unlimited:
You get no ads,
You have no time restriction,
You have no song play restriction.
With Spotify Premium you get the same as Unlimited but also:
You can play songs in a higher quality (320kbps against the normal 192kbps),
You can use spotify on mobile devices,
You can play songs while offline.

Premium is worth the 99SEK.
Am I missing something? Aren't camps and lakes and summer vacation type things usually a time to get away from technology and enjoy life outside of computers?
A lot of people come up here for the entire summer, some for even longer than that. If they want to keep in contact with family members, check out sports scores and news or work remotely, they would need to go into town or go into the middle of the lake with a cell phone.
My dad would probably come up here more often if he could talk with work and clients more reliably. A few neighbours we talked to also would have liked some sort of internet access, though due to their location, they weren't able to get it. It would be worth surveying the area to see how big this sweet-spot is before spending more time thinking about it.

Networking projects like those are fun as fuck to do.
-Whoops, the phone I'm tethered to has shit cell radios, double posted-
Crap. I've been listening to only FLAC for so long that 192kbps bitrate (as per pdkm931's post) is now unlistenable for me. Looks like I'll need to "go big or go home". I guess I'll pony up for a month of Spotify's $10 service to get 320kbps and see how it works out, although that's still nowhere close to FLAC's 800-1200 average variable bitrate.
Unluckily for you UK folk, you have to pay the equivalent of ~$14 for Spotify's Premium subscription, whereas in the US the price is $10. Funny how the weakness of the dollar is actually helping me in some way.

You can play the music on your own computer togheter with music from Spotify without any problems.
Alright, that spotify link is legit. Trey Songz, a famous rapper, has been using it for 2 years and decided to hit up the guys at spotify for some early invites for his facebook fans. It's fine.
As of now there's no american limits.
Was at McDonalds today:

Since when has P2P networks/File sharing become illegal? You can share royalty free music or linux distros on it :v:

Normally I'm against blocking sites and stuff, but I can see why McDonalds would block file sharing sites.

Especially since they probably have some kind of cap on their usage.

I'd be up for eating a Chicken Legend and torrenting linux distros.

Does it say it's illegal? McDonalds network isn't supposed to be used for file sharing and eating up their bandwidth. It's there for casual surfing and e-mailing, pretty much.
I'd block all P2P activity if I managed a public wireless network, too.

Spotify worked, so did steam. (But yea, you got a point there)

The same way you get used to pretty much anything else, too, I guess.

This is posted in every thread.
Guys my PC keeps restarting and then black screens when I play Bad Company 2. I think it might be a GPU problem since the fan is going really fast when I play BC2. Less intensive games don't cause my PC to restart. I have been having BSOD problems a lot recently, but it's not a BSOD so I decided to not bump my thread again.
anti-content:
Someone I kind of know at my school heard that he could build a desktop himself for cheaper than he could buy it retail, so he got all the parts together and ordered them. He asked me for help over Facebook and I guided him through the various steps of the building process (he read most things off the manuals, but there were some things like using the little handle to release the CPU socket and close it afterwards that required force and I told him it was fine to apply force for specifically that).
His last status was basically advertising the services he could offer people over the summer, one of them was building custom computers for less than retail cost.
Better than 99% of my school, console/CoD fanboys and the "artistic" people who get new macbooks every few months and complain about Final Cut Pro taking 30 minutes to render a video with mediocre shots and a bunch of built-in filters used.
