Overheating? Bad PSU?
I'll download HW monitor and find out the temps (reinstalled Windows 7 recently). Specs: 600 Watt OCZ PSU 4 GB RAM Palit GTS 250 512 MB Phenom II X4 at stock 3.2 GHz
Guys my PC keeps restarting and then black screens when I play Bad Company 2. I think it might be a GPU problem since the fan is going really fast when I play BC2. Less intensive games don't cause my PC to restart. I have been having BSOD problems a lot recently, but it's not a BSOD so I decided to not bump my thread again.
check the temps with hwmonitor run it, play BC2 for a little while then check the max temps
anti-content: Someone I kind of know at my school heard that he could build a desktop himself for cheaper than he could buy it retail, so he got all the parts together and ordered them. He asked me for help over Facebook and I guided him through the various steps of the building process (he read most things off the manuals, but there were some things like using the little handle to release the CPU socket and close it afterwards that required force and I told him it was fine to apply force for specifically that). His last status was basically advertising the services he could offer people over the summer, one of them was building custom computers for less than retail cost. Better than 99% of my school, console/CoD fanboys and the "artistic" people who get new macbooks every few months and complain about Final Cut Pro taking 30 minutes to render a video with mediocre shots and a bunch of built-in filters used.
Ugh, my friend is trying to build a laptop. She's smart and stuff with computers, but she won't listen to me when I just say get an ASUS or MSi. I don't know why she wants to build a laptop anyway, isn't it better to buy a prebuilt in this case?

By the way thanks Reapan and Armo!
One does not simply BUILD a laptop.
All you have to do is get a pile of scrap metal and hit it with a wrench!
One does not simply BUILD a laptop.
I know I keep telling her that :( I don't even know why she wants to get a "gaming" laptop anyway. I think she wants to play Battlefield 3 with me when it comes out :v:
All you have to do is get a pile of scrap metal and hit it with a wrench!
I'VE GOT BOTH OF THOSE IN MY SHED! BRB making a gaming laptop.
I'VE GOT BOTH OF THOSE IN MY SHED! BRB making a gaming laptop.
Be sure to find some of those pool noodles to upgrade it to liquid cooling!
Idle temps, just Steam and MSE running. How do I get load temps with BC2 running again? Windowed mode or something?
BAH! Any time I do anything with a tar.gz it never works properly!!! Nevermind, got it. :downs:
Damn. Got into windowed mode but right before I join the game it BSODs, not reboot.
I need to get Windows 7 on my netbook again. Ubuntu isn't cutting it. I want to use Netflix and Steam.
Anyone else think it might be my GPU driver? I'm on 275.33 the latest for my series. Should I rollback (and if I should, how)?
Anyone else think it might be my GPU driver? I'm on 275.33 the latest for my series. Should I rollback (and if I should, how)?
It sounds like something a bad PSU would cause, do you have any spares laying around?
oh sweet baby jesus my back hurts, this shitty chair i have right now just isn't doing it right now. anyone know of an office chair for 150$ max that has full back support and can recline?
just run BC2 for a while, exit then look at the max temps column
It BSOD'd right before I got in a game. Gonna swap PSUs like what Armo suggested. However, the spare PSU I have is a Cooler Master 400 watt, not enough for a GTS 250 and Phenom II right? [editline]17th July 2011[/editline] Also should I try manually controlling the fans? Because the fans get REAL loud in intensive games, such as BC2.
I need to get Windows 7 on my netbook again. Ubuntu isn't cutting it. I want to use Netflix and Steam.
I'm in the same position as you, I miss my programs.
Also should I try manually controlling the fans? Because the fans get REAL loud in intensive games, such as BC2.
Make your fans go at 100% at all times. it works for me
So should I try rolling back my drivers? How do I do that again? I need to install Driver Sweeper again don't I. [editline]17th July 2011[/editline]
Make your fans go at 100% at all times. it works for me
Which program should I use to do that? I'm probably gonna put it at 80% or something, depending on what you guys tell me.

Can't log in to C:\ , I got a keylogger and lots of my shit was changed. At least I think it was a keylogger. So I am now in this alt. :smith:
I would recommend MSI Afterburner.
Alright downloading. [editline]17th July 2011[/editline] So what fan speed should I put my GTS 250 at? Should I leave Auto on as well?

Well, there goes my post in the mod forum about that.
I need to get Windows 7 on my netbook again. Ubuntu isn't cutting it. I want to use Netflix and Steam.
This is what's keeping me from Linux, mostly. Especially now that I've noticed my laptop actually handles games better than my desktop. I thought my Geforce 9800GT in SLI would handle games better than the Mobility Radeon HD4670 in my laptop, but I guess not. I know my way around linux, I've tried a variety of distros (usually stick with Mint, Mint Debian or Arch with AwesomeWM) but I usually end up switching back to Windows in the absence of a good IM client (Windows Live Messenger), a decent email client, and Steam, amongst other things. I use Windows Live Messenger on Windows, but nothing I tried on Linux really comes close. Pidgin, Empathy, aMSN, emesene... all of them have something I don't like. I prefer Outlook (2010) for email, but I end up just using the Gmail web interface when I'm in Linux. /minirant
I highly doubt that a key for a 64bit copy of Windows 7 would work on a 32bit install. If it did, I'd try and just use that, but... bah.
