Why are you using a GUI on a server
btw, I get that error when I go to the webpage for the server. [editline]27th December 2011[/editline] I'm not?
Oh, I thought you were using a GUI, nevermind its just a webpage meant to look like a gui.
you finished it wtf why didn't you tell me
Well, for one, I'm still using the default icon. [editline]28th December 2011[/editline]
Are you asking me to take it down or...?
No, just saying why I didn't do it myself. [editline]28th December 2011[/editline]
What theme are you using in those test screenshots, looks nice.
Soft7 2.0
So out of curiosity, I jailbroke my Kindle, and found something interesting.. It uses the awesome window manager :v:

You can also apparently install and run Xorg apps (!) though you need to trigger refreshes manually. Wow, imagine the possibilities with this thing. I hope the homebrew community picks up on it.

Still, you can get the Kindle App for it so that makes it quite perfect.
How does video look on e-ink
You know what I'd like to see? What Apple would do with an e-ink screen eReader. I mean, there's not much you can do with it. BUT what I would like from it would be another, proper, eBook store. Even if it is Apple. [editline]28th December 2011[/editline]
How does video look on e-ink
My reader has a refresh rate that takes about 1 second for a full image refresh. I'd say quite bad. I mean, it can display fast shit but at lower quality.
What is the benefit of Eink compared to LCD?
What is the benefit of Eink compared to LCD?
High readability in sunlight, it looks like ink on paper, and it uses no power when the screen isn't being refreshed
What is the benefit of Eink compared to LCD?
Battery life. Since when once you draw something on it, you don't need any more power until you redraw. But it's only good for things like e-readers and the like, you couldn't pull it off for anything like a full Android tablet. Unless you can pull a decent refresh rate (You could get away with 24hz or so) but that would defeat the point, in the end. + I've yet to see one in colour.

http://www.eink.com/display_products_triton.html Dunno why no devices seem to use them yet, though.
What is the benefit of Eink compared to LCD?
Feels more natural to read, wide viewing angle, only uses electricity when you update the screen, no glare
They make colour e-ink screens.. http://www.eink.com/display_products_triton.html Dunno why no devices seem to use them yet, though.
Ooooh. That's cool. [editline]28th December 2011[/editline] I must say, Infrared touch screen's are really, really, perfect for eReaders.
Ooooh. That's cool. [editline]28th December 2011[/editline] I must say, Infrared touch screen's are really, really, perfect for eReaders.
Yeah. Not like you need anything more than 2 fingers anyway for an e-reader.
Yeah. Not like you need anything more than 2 fingers anyway for an e-reader.
And they're cheap. Only problem with them is that they can get some interference from TV Remotes and shit, not much + they will sometimes go off before you touch the screen and then when you touch the screen, so if you're typing something you will get the letter twice and not realize. Otherwise nice.
Why do they misuse the meaning of green on the E-ink website, consuming less energy has no impact on the environment if you live in a competent governed nation.
Thank god they don't use resistive touchscreens :v: [editline]28th December 2011[/editline]
Why do they misuse the meaning of green on the E-ink website, consuming less energy has no impact on the environment if you life in a competent governed nation.
Everyone misuses the meaning of 'green'..it's just a corporate buzzword.
