[editline]30th December 2011[/editline]
you can buy 4x4gb for like $80 if you really need all of that
Should've just done something to get a temp-ban.
Should've just block FP from his router or unplug his internet or something rather than making stupid posts.

Or hell, just PM one of the nice mods saying "hey, I'm supposed to be working but FP is too tempting, could I get a 4-hour ban plz?". If it's a PM, it's not cluttering up the forums or demanding attention, so they usually just give you what you asked for.
I'm happy with my 8GB of DDR3 for £38.

didn't see that, but it's still overpriced, and I really hope you've actually got a use for that

No you're an idiot
Oh god the kids at my school.
Me: Do you know any programming languages?
Them: Yeah, HTML
Me: HTML is a storage format not a programming language
Them: Then why is it called Hypertext Markup Language?
Me: Do you even know what a markup language is?
Wow.
I obtained Skyrim and it runs better than I thought.
My friend has some AMD Dual-Core (AM2 socket) and a HD3850 and runs Skyrim on low on 1280x720.
I run it on Medium with an underclocked E5200 and a HD4650 at 1280x960

yeah, skyrim is one of those rare games that runs really well on older hardware but still looks pretty nice on max settings.
Time to play with VoIP again.
Goodbye sleep, I'll see you next year.
I completely ignored everything about the AMD FX (Bulldozer) processors, can someone tell me what is bad about them?
Loadsa cores, and each core isn't exactly that powerful, which means it sucks for programs that cant take advantage of all of its cores.
E.G Console ports.

Nowhere near as powerful as expected, priced way higher than equal-performing Intel parts.
There's also the core/module confusion. AMD designed a "dual-core" "module", and each processor has two to eight modules. Problem is, it isn't two complete cores, as they share L2 cache and sometimes have to share the FPU when doing 256-bit stuff. So it acts somewhat like one Hyper-Threaded core instead of two full independent cores. So the "six-core" Bulldozer performs similarly to a quad-core i5.
VoIP-stuff delayed because I just got the idea to replace my current virtualization system with ESXi.
I might have to delay sleep until May.

They're too much for what they are worth, basically.
I didn't tell you about my adventures setting up a mail server last night.
So I go along using the Ubuntu guides for Postfix/Dovecot (this server came with 10.04 LTS installed, minus GUI which is the one thing I really have a problem with in Ubuntu so I never saw the point in changing it), and once it's finally at what I think is "finished", I fire up Thunderbird and connect.
It can receive email fine! ALRIGHT SWEET I DID IT! I should test outgoing even though I'm pretty damn sure it wor--Could Not Connect To SMTP Server. To be sure I send something to myself through GMail. It works.
shit.
So I test locally. That works.
SHIT.
Eventually with the help of a guy on #postfix @ freenode I realize that my ISP blocked port 25. And I also learn that even though a lot of ISPs do this, Thunderbird is silly and sets 25 as the default SMTP port. With that I decide "well alright I'll just set her to whatever GMail uses, that works." That works, and plaintext login gives me "Login Failed". Well alright, I can solve that! I'll just use STARTTLS and be--The Server Doesn't Advertise STARTTLS. Well, fine maybe I forgot to turn it on. Nope, turned on. Connect to it through a telnet client and check, advertises fine there.
SHIT.
So I'm sitting here flipping a shit when dude on IRC tells me that it seems like a certificate error. And it was.
And then I realize there was an entire bit on certificate generation that I somehow missed.

Get that working and I'm back to "Login Failed". Then the guy on IRC asks me why I'm not making Postfix use Dovecot's SASL.

Being three things (an idiot, tired at like 12 AM, and new to mail servers), I didn't think that I would need to make Postfix and Dovecot actually communicate for them to take the same login information. So I read up on how to make Postfix use Dovecot's SASL.
After scratching my head at that for a bit, I try one last time.
It sends! The quotes in the name I chose in Thunderbird are preceded with \ (in Thunderbird but not GMail) but that's Thunderbird's fault, the point is I CAN SEND EMAIL FROM MY DOMAIN NOW WHOOOOOOOOOOOO
I felt like a badass after that.
