7970 is better, 7950 would be cheaper but it will release later, in about a month or so.
They can't, none of Nvidia's current or future cards can run below 70c (under LN2, that is, you'd be mad to run one on air), so they'd just melt trying to match that.
But he's not talking about current Nvidia cards. Their next ones won't be Fermi.

I can't wait for the Einstein series cards :buddy:
After Kepler and Maxwell? There's a thought.
You're probably familiar with Flex / FFC cables, these really flat things they use in phones and laptops

Anyone know if it's possible to strip and rewire these things?
Also, does anyone know what the voltage an iPod touch backlight uses? :v:
Wtf, @Nortonsupport is following me after I said to someone that their Norton sucks
I once followed the status twitter for an art site and suddenly I was followed by @FurryMate, which was described as: "Find your purrfect partner"
NO THANKS

Apparently not, I think they follow you for a week then unfollow you to get attention

Step 1: "Hey this LED strip I pulled from an ipod would make a great case light!"
Step 2:

"WHY ARE YOU SO FUCKING TINY"
Step 3: "I'll fuck with it when I can solder properly"
Happy 112th Birthday to a lot of forum users.
Get off my lawn damn kids.
What are some good/quiet fans I can pair with a Cooler Master V6GT?
The stock ones are just really loud and don't push much air.
I fucking hate GFWL, I backed up my save for Arkham city (It uses steamcloud for saves but still, i wanted to be sure) and now that I have a new PC (but with the same harddrive, but wiped) it refuses to load the save (doesn't even recognize it) even though I'm on the same GFWL account and all. JESUS FUCK I LOST SO MUCH PROGRESS.

I'd like to go for silence so I guess I'll go for the 1450rpm model.

$24, ouch. Guess I'm gonna have to use Amazon since I can't seem to find them anywhere else.

the 7990 is looking good
Stop asking so many questions.
Half of them we can't even answer yet since what you're asking about isn't even out yet or reviewed.

oh nevermind then if they're that much, even noctua's fairly overpriced fans are cheaper than that but if quiet is what you want they'll be more what you're looking for http://www.amazon.com/Noctua-NF-P12-Fan/dp/B000YSONMO/ref=sr_1_6?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1325444445&sr=1-6
I guess there's stock problems with the GTs, they've disappeared from newegg and even over here they're out of stock
Almost done building my server...
Gonna power up soon.

Yeah the stock fans on it are pretty loud since they seem to always run at 80% and push very little air.
I just want/would prefer silence.
What's a good server OS? I'm running it with Ubuntu LiveCD right now.

I just use Debian CLI

how much did you pay for it
really the best option would be to return it and get a better, quieter heatsink for likely less than the V6+two decent fans
even going by newegg's v6gt price you should be able to get an nh-u12p for less, and iirc you bought from frys or microcentre? thats either $60 or $70 for a cooler that's louder and probably performs similarly or worse to the $73 NH-U12P
add $30-40 for new fans and you could have just gone with a D14 for less cost and better performance

I got it for $20 since I have credit at both stores for $50.
And according to a few reviews I've seen the V6GT is somewhere between the Frio (which is way louder) and the NH-D14.
[editline]1st January 2012[/editline]
And right now I have the fans running at 55% by using SpeedFan but they're still kind of loud and not pushing much air.
Manages to keep a 4.5 OC at 32 idle and 53 load though.
