yeah... that went totally off-topic... Anyway... I agree with whoever said they're both ugly. They really aren't attractive, so I'll take the cheap one. P.S. if superfetch is that great, use it on OO. :P
Wow, I searched OpenOffice with bing and the top site that was listed was highlighted in blue, knowing it wasn't the real site, I clicked on it and it was a fake that contained some spyware and a trojans. Avast of course found them immediately and removed them without doing any harm to my PC. Great job Microsoft, for listing a site with infections to people searching for OpenOffice. :regd08: Here's an image for you: OH MY! What's this? The fake website with infections is sponsored? FUCK YOU MICROSOFT!

I can tell he's smart because of all the toolbars he has
Here is what I meant: http://advice.cio.com/shane_oneill/bing_search_tainted_by_pro_microsoft_results Debatable: http://gregstechblog.blogspot.com/2009/08/more-bing-bias.html http://gregstechblog.blogspot.com/2009/06/microsofts-bing-search-is-biased.html These are really creepy. I'm not saying it's 100% proof but it's raising a concern. But in this case it wasn't MS for the OO site.
I love it how it's OO's fault yet you still blame MS.
I'm not. I'm saying what if, because it happened before.
BUT its M$ and M$ is BAD bcuz they is EVIL my dog died and M$ WOULDNT APOLOGISE
Cool a retarded troll who just randomly approves one person's post.
Plus OpenOffice isn't a threat to MS..why? Because OpenOffice is exactly what it says it is. It is open source, so anyone can get the code or add shit to it. Some MS formats don't work properly with OpenOffice and vise versa.
So OpenOffice isn't a threat because its source is open? How retarded is that?
OH MY! What's this? The fake website with infections is sponsored? FUCK YOU MICROSOFT!
Yeah totally, this is bullshit, what do they think they are doing editing the source code and putting spyware promoting websites at the top of the yielded search results?! Panda/gparent, I genuinely love when you two guys backup your views on something as it displays more than one indepth point of view, really interesting.
Panda/gparent, I genuinely love when you two guys backup your views on something because it shows me more than one point of view in depth, it's interesting.
It's a rarity for me.
It's a rarity for me.
Yeah, back when you started the discussion of Windows 7 here, it was really interesting because of the "LOL W7 SUX" but then it got really repetitive. Some people will never adapt to change I guess.
Writer is the most annoying thing in the world.
Windows Live Writer? I love that program and I use it to write my blog. It's awesome!
Bing is bad.
[editline]06:34PM[/editline] Bing is very bad.
it was too heavy on systems built for XP grandma's email machine didn't have enough power, rage on internet, get sheeple to follow you and we end up with this
It was too heavy in general. It was generally accepted that if you had 2GB of RAM and a dual core processor Vista was great, but that was still a lot at the time, and as I said, MS themselves admitted Vista took too many resources.
Windows Live Writer? I love that program and I use it to write my blog. It's awesome!
No. The Word equivalent in OpenOffice.
Office will still be used by fucktons of businesses. Companies don't trust open source software... Besides OpenOffice freaks out occasionally so I don't trust it at all either...
I use Google.
THEN WHATS THE POINT OF SAYING THAT BING IS BETTER IF YOU USE GOOGLE??? /caps
THEN WHATS THE POINT OF SAYING THAT BING IS BETTER IF YOU USE GOOGLE??? /caps
What part of "at some things" don't you understand? Fucking read.
that buggy piece of ass, you can shove open source down everyones throat but people will still want office. seems to take forever to load on Vista/7 even on machines that SHOULD handle it fine. [editline]04:55PM[/editline] alteast windows got around to making wordpad decent in 7
Just a shame everyone forgot wordpad existed until Win 7 :v:
I make portable, stripped down versions of office using ThinApp. Loads in a few seconds for me, even via USB stick. :h:
Just a shame everyone forgot wordpad existed until Win 7 :v:
It hadn't been updated since Win95 or something. Everyone stopped caring.
It's good in a pinch if you need to whip-up some document with text and pictures really quick, but not good for anything like work presentations or reports.
It honestly doesn't even matter, everyone knows OpenOffice looks like shit and is slow. Office will always look better and run faster. Office already holds the market share anyways.
Are you one of them Microsoft Fanboys? Going with Bing just because you know it's by Microsoft? [editline]21:12[/editline] http://www.bing.com/reference/semhtml/OpenOffice.org?src=abop&fwd=1&qpvt=openoffice&q=openoffice
It's just as dumb to hate something just because it's from Microsoft. Bing is probably the 2nd best search engine. [editline]07:08PM[/editline] I can't wait for Windows Live Messenger, aka MSN, to be named Bing Messenger.
Live isn't the same as Bing. They're different things. They wouldn't name something from Live to Bing.
With heavy optimization, OpenOffice could run faster than M$ Office could only dream of.
It's written in Java, there is only so much you can do. As for my opinion on the whole MS Office Vs. OpenOffice.org debate; I personally use OpenOffice even though I can get MS Office 2007 free through my university. This is mainly due to the fact that I prefer the ODF (Open Document Format) as it's much more widely supported in the computer science department at my uni (the department head is a big open source and Linux fan). It works great for me, have never run into any problems.
I can't wait for Windows Live Messenger, aka MSN, to be named Bing Messenger.
That's like saying "I can't wait for Xbox Live to be named Xbox Bing!"
It was a joke. They always come up with something new and rename everything it. Remember MSN Search? MS Live search? Now it's Bing search. It seems to be doing better than any of the others.

"Yeah I used it before, don't think I care to try it again." "New Bing!" "Ok I'll see what it is, if I don't like it I'll go back to x"
