I wish Verizon wasn't CDMA, it's holding back the US.
I wish Verizon wasn't CDMA, it's holding back the US.
Couldn't agree more. It's ridiculous that they have to have new phones come out JUST to use something other carriers' phones already have. I buy a DX, and 4 months later you come out with 4G. That's cool, glad I just bought the DX. Where's my 4G? Oh, I don't get it? Why not? Fucking dicks.
Verizon has a great spread of 3G, but it is slow and expensive. Their 4G is super fast but capped and also expensive. AT&T does not even have a real 4G network and their plans are super expensive. They also have frequent problems with dropped calls and coverage, though they do have the fastest 3G.\ Sprint's 4G network is not as fast or reliable as Verizon's, but it does come much cheaper. Their 3G is pretty ok. T-Mobile does not have the best 3G service or speed, but their "4G" network is actually huge and fast (matching Sprint in some areas). They have the cheapest plans and some good phones. So I would have to say that Verizon and AT&T are both ripping everyone off
I'm being optimistic, but I wonder if that AT&T and T-Mobile merger will change anything.
Not really. All GSM in this country will be in one company. The cheapest company is being replaced by the most expensive one... that will also get more expensive after the merger.
Anybody have any info regarding Galaxy S 2 variant release dates in America? When you do get info, please bump the thread. I want to know so desperately bad.

I am currently on AT&T and I have never had ANY trouble with dropped calls or coverage. I have had coverage everywhere I go, except a few places and even those few places my friend on Verizon didn't get coverage either. I have no idea when it will actually be released. I guess sometime during the summer.
I have no coverage where I live, I had to buy an AT&T device for 200 bucks to get my family coverage.
Goddamn I love the style of this phone. I wish my Droid Charge looked like that.
Hope it releases in Canada to rogers. I get a free upgrade soon, i want to replace my iphone 4.
Hope it releases in Canada to rogers. I get a free upgrade soon, i want to replace my iphone 4.
Rogers will make their own shitty custom version. Just like they did with the original Galaxy S. Bell i9000 FTW.
Well after using it when travelling from the North of England to the South I can say the battery holds out pretty well considering I was using 3G all the way down. I can list the bad points now too! -Flimsy battery cover -I have a problem when packet data is activated but not being used/not working sometimes. I think this may be 3 mobile's problem though, never had good signal with them. -The lab boys tell me it's prone to become sentient. I better get them on that. In the event that it does please run around screaming. -Samsung's own keyboard has horrible predictive/auto correct features.
Most kinds of problems in these phones are solved by software changes... get the Swiftkey keyboard, it's damn awesome, that or the stock gingerbread one.

It's only been 2 days since the last time I felt liked I NEEDED this phone. I don't upgrade until the end of summer. This is going to be a looooong couple of months.
Oooh, I want one! I hope AT&T gets it soon, my contract is up at the end of this month.
Been playing a lot with the camera and I'm impressed with the macro focus: Also I've found out that power+home utilizes the inbuilt screen capture. It's also a VERY robust phone, it's been dropped on a radiator a few times be accident. It got scuffed but that rubbed/polished off.

Would you mind posting some more pictures?
Just replaced my iPhone 4 with one of these. Been an iPhone owner since day 1.

Well I already knew it was a damn good phone, wasn't easy for me to ditch iOS. It comes down to this being the first smartphone (in my opinion) that in overall is better than the current iPhone. The screen is beautiful, I prefer it over apple's retina display even with it's lower PPI, and, finally, it's an android device that feels smoother/faster to use than a iPhone 4. Coming from iOS to android is a little odd, a lot of the functions which would require one or two inputs, often require twice that on android, it's still not as intuitive to use, but the customizability, and software such as Google Navigation makes up for that. I'm also finding the samsung keyboard (I believe it's similar to the stock android one) easier to type on that the iOS keyboard, but it's mostly due to the bigger screen. However, most of the samsung apps on it are pretty much useless and the bundled Vlingo voice control app annoys the shit out of me, as it's activated by a double press of the home button, which is how you access the multitasking menu in iOS

I find it a hell of a lot better and auto correct is very good on it.
I am not versed in the terminology for this sort of thing, so please bear with me. Is it easy to 'root'? As in, if I wanted to install the latest version of andriod on it, could I?
Most Android devices are easily rooted. What phone is it?
What is this thread about?
I didn't feel like this question deserved it's own thread, but this thread seems like a good place to ask; I'm fed up with my iPhone and Apple's shitty service, and I was at my local AT&T store and I saw the Atrix. Is it a good phone? I was gonna get it in a few months once my contract gets renewed so I wont have to pay full price.
The Atrix is supposed to be great.
The Atrix is supposed to be great.
It's locked down though. I'd get the G2x or wait for the SII. Installing custom ROMs is impossible since there aren't any out yet. But it will be pretty easy once they are out. Just check xda-developers.com regularly.
Now I really want one. I hope they come to AT&T soon.
Do you think they'll bring it over to the US anytime soon? I'd love to sign a two year contract with this thing.
This phone makes me want Android over WindowsPhone again
