Galaxy SII has hit the FCC with AT&T bands already, I'm assuming we'll see Verizon and Sprint any day now.
Release is definitely close with AT&T
Already been changing to UI back to the proper gingerbread icons for the notification bar:

It's getting plenty of attention from developers already, as soon as Samsung Releases the source for their ROM it's full steam ahead!
Besides the camera is there anything major different from my phone the Samsung Galaxy S?

Twice the RAM, 50% better perceived resolution (RGB instead of PenTile), twice the CPU cores, 200MHz more, bigger screen, gyroscope, better GPS, faster GPU, HSPA+.
Sucks to live in 3rd world country. No contract, unlocked one costs 800 bucks.

Will any of that prevent the lag?

The dual core Exynos chipset is fantastic, I've noticed no lag at all.

I would get one but i've only just entered a contract one my Galaxy S, i still have 19 months left
Will any of that prevent the lag?
Yes, but it's also running much better software. The stock ROM already includes the ext4 lagfix and the browser is even hardware accelerated.
Op has a Samsung Galaxy S 2 and I just got my normal Galaxy S.

What country?
I was about to go get a Nexus S, but this is making me hesitate. Should I wait for and get this instead?

Yup, the only reasons you shouldn't get it is if it isn't coming to your country of residence or Google announces a Nexus SII!
You may as well wait to try and get a dual core phone anyways.
Note: I highly doubt there will be a Nexus SII......for some time. They may use another Nexus to release Icecream with.

I have a omnia with a worse battery life than my netbook but the only real problem is that not much supports windows mobile 6.5. there is a android port but since there are no drivers for any connections its useless.
I just found out an electronics store in my city has it in stock and it's only 50€ more expensive than Amazon. Since nobody including Samsung and Amazon knows when they'll finally be able to ship and I don't plan to buy anything expensive any time soon I think I'll get it tomorrow.
Why is there no news with the release date on this in the US.
I mean really. It's already gone through the FCC, it should be fine.
I just bought my Galaxy S II!! :buddy:
I'm a bit confused about the kernel though. Why does the stock kernel say something about root? Does that mean that it was compiled by a root user?

Yeah I get that too.
Flash insecure kernel and root with superoneclick then enjoy root for real.

That's the plan, but it's still charging for the first time.
Do you have the "Retail Mode for Galaxy S II" too? I can't uninstall it and it's always bugging me to update it.
It's really amazing how my 1.5 year old Spica next to my shiny new S II looks like my 3510i next to my Spica. :v:
Looks hot, have the SGS 1 myself, pretty satisfied with it still. Would there be any reason upgrading?
I have that too and I still smirk when the iPhone dudes tell me their screen looks just as good but then I tell them I have it on lowest brightness.

Don't have it on the app drawer but it shows I need to update it in Samsung Apps.
Oh, good. Because I think mine was a display model, there was already some stuff on it and I had to factory reset it and I thought that it stayed on the phone for some reason.
What the fuck, this phone costs 980$ in latvia. FUCK.

Yes
HSDPA on my Galaxy S II is as fast as my home broadband and I'm only paying 4€/month for my data plan :aaa:

I believe the kernel was compiled by a root user on a Dell :v:
