I'm going to be building a new computer soon, and I need to know if I should get a gtx 460, or sli them. Im going to be getting an msi am3 sli mobo with a a 1055t phenom cpu with 4gb of ddr3 1600 ram. I plan on playing my games on my 42in 1080p tv. And I want a 60+ fps on max settings and a 1920x1080 resolution. The game I'm getting this most for is Fallout New Vegas. What kind of framerate's can I expect with that setup with those settings. Or if I should change something with my setup to improve.
I've just bought a GTX 460, 1055t, 4GB ddr3 1600 ram.. I've had no trouble at all with FPS with all games max settings (e.g. mw2, crysis, bfbc2) but so far I've just been running 1024x768. Later I will run the games at 720p and report my findings if you like.
Ummm If your going AMD processor, just get a 5830. Or to be equivalent to the SLI'ed get a 5870.
Ummm If your going AMD processor, just get a 5830.
Why? The 1Gb version of the 460 is 10 bucks more. He can stretch.
Ummm If your going AMD processor, just get a 5830.
:frogdowns: The brand of the processor you get has no impact on the performance of a GPU.
:frogdowns: The brand of the processor you get has no impact on the performance of a GPU.
Except AMD owns ATI so you need to be a good fanboy.
:downsbravo:
So your yelling at me, not the Nvidia fanboy?
I don't see a fanboy.
I don't see a fanboy.
Minor detail, but it seems like most of the people in this thread ignore the existence of ATI.
Because the 460 beats the 5770, the 5830, and if overclocked correctly, the 5850.
Minor detail, but it seems like most of the people in this thread ignore the existence of ATI.
It's because the GTX 460 is the most commonly recommended card, not that long ago it was the 5770. I still include 5850s and 5870s in builds
Because the 460 beats the 5770, the 5830, and if overclocked correctly, the 5850.
This is stupid, if I overclocked a 5850 then it would be better than an overclocked 460. If you had £220 or $280 then you should get a 5850
Minor detail, but it seems like most of the people in this thread ignore the existence of ATI.
My 5870 isn't ignoring the existence of ATi. The GTX460 just happens to be the current price/performance king.
Because the 460 beats the 5770, the 5830, and if overclocked correctly, the 5850.
The GTX 460 is much better value for money than the 5850 atm. As good as it is, it's realy not worth the extra £50!
