As a Brit I'm really tempted to stay up until Midnight to play it.
Wish I'd been told when GTAIV came out that 7 years later I'd upgrade my PC with the latest i7 and 16GB of RAM and still not be able to max it out
Yeah. I can't play it maxed out with my GTX 980, i7 3770k and 16GB of RAM either. Actually, it doesn't run well on any settings. :v:
sorry for asking this question for the upteenth time, but how would a midrange build like mine handle V?
amd fx-6300, amd hd7770, and 8gb of ram
I have a feeling that my graphics is a bottleneck
I'm annoyed that they're releasing it just before the Ludum Dare weekend.
So tempting.

I could run it at 4k with about 50 fps all the time with my old 580
Then it broke and I got a 970, now I get 35fps on 1080p

You'll be fine.
Your graphics card and CPU are about even.
Ah well, GTAIV was complicated. It lagged for people. Stuttered for people. Crashed for people.
Perhaps here, things will be different.
As soon as I turned shadows down from 'Very High' it doubled my frames into a constant 60.
It looks good at times. With the right mods, it can look great at times. But at times it looks dreadful and washed out and cartoony but in a poorly animated kinda way. It's a very blurry game.
I've seen many series go through the blurry/muddy texture phase. It does not make the game age well at all.
GTA V is a lot more vibrant in color and atmosphere. IV was... beige. Very beige. And grey. These aren't really appealing to the eye.

GTAIV performance is all over the place. It performed better on my older system better than my current one. Lowering the draw distance makes no difference.
That makes it ssem like a CPU bottleneck which is not.

I had to use the right GPU driver revision or else GTA IV would run like shit.
It's that finicky.
Well the release date being moved forward is a good sign. Means that the game really is complete.
gta iv ran like shit as some reflection maps scaled up when you upped the res. If you played it at the same resolution that the consoles did all the issues went away. there is some trick with limiting memory to really low amounts to force the reflection maps not to scale up when you up your resolution.

It wasn't moved forward, it's releasing on April 14 as planned, it's just that the time they chose to release it is actually April 13 in some timezones
What a treat to come home from school and play to.

I think that the meant more in retrospect about being delayed from January to March to April.

Sorry, I didn't see them
If somebody has a physical copy and install it now, will he/she be able to play now?
no, you play when it releases. Installing early just allows you to get the files right away. You cannot play them because they put some of the files behind a download, meaning you still have to download a tiny bit and get the last bit of the files when the game is out.
What if somebody doesn't have an internet connection? Wouldn't buying the physical copy be defeating its purposes, to play offline?

Box would say "Requires an Internet Connection to Activate" or whatever
Anyone else get the feeling that time just isn't moving because GTA V is literally just over the horizon?
Anyone else get the feeling that time just isn't moving because GTA V is literally just over the horizon?
Yeah, I literally had trouble getting out of bed this morning because "gta 5 didn't come out yet therefore I am not needed in this reality"

I scroll through my Steam library looking for something to play, and then I see GTA V and realise there's nothing else I want to play.
:suicide:

This is smurfys mum, he killed himself this morning because GTA5 isnt out yet
[editline]12th April 2015[/editline]
I kind of feel like I'm about to move house or something. I'm so used to loading up GTAIV from time to time to dick around for an hour. I'm 100% done with Liberty City now though, I feel like I've done everything I can do in GTAIV and I'm excited to move on.
