Keep in mind this is in bits, not bytes. Steam reports download speeds in bytes. 1 byte = 8 bits. Aka take your general steam download rate, multiple by 8. Then find that number in this chart.
So for someone who downloads at 800kb/s to 1mb/s this would take how long? max 24 hours? Smells like bullshit to me
Whelp looks like I'm downloading this at work...
Porting would have been them taking them the 360/PS3 versions, making it prettier and coding it to work on PC/Next gen console architectures. That's the complete opposite of what they did. (I mean besides all the assets.) They improved the engine, they completely overhauled the textures, texture resolutions, models, added a whole new perspective to the world and made it highly detailed in first person, enhanced environmental effects, and significantly improved the scenery. And that was the Next Gen console versions. Each release of this game has been a significant improvement upon the last.
You seem to be missing the point: it's not that big of a deal. I know that it's not a port, but that doesn't change the fact that the connotation of the two recently has become synonomous for a lot of people. Beyond the fact that there are a huge amount of recent games that were ports and it's become engrained in people's heads as the same thing as "version," I prefer referring to it as a port anyway because it's just generally faster to say and rolls off the tongue better. I mean yeah sure there are people that really care and differenciate it, but most people don't. I don't even ever see people bring it up unless they're having this game performance discussion we're having right now.
Watch they will delay it 30 minutes till the 7th
Does the retail version work with steam? want the goodies but i also want steam
While admittedly it's not much to go by, if the minimum specs for GTA V require a top tier PC from almost a decade ago, I'm pretty sure the "port" is going to be good. Hell, even the recommended specs are mostly considered "mid-range" today. And even though it's been stated many times, it's being done by the same team that did the PC version of Max Payne 3, which runs quite well and has very little issues. Honestly, the only PC port I'm worried about as of late is the MKX PC Port, given it's not being done by NetherRealm, but by the same guys that did the atrocious PC ports of MK9 and Injustice. But that's a different story that belongs in another thread.
Here's how long it will take to download the 65 GB:
Ah, 9.6 Kbps the average speed for Australia.
Already loads fairly quick on console HDD, imagine how fast it'd load on an SSD. I'm stoked for this, I need to do some cleaning.
Your kidding right? It takes forever to load on consoles. Aleast on the xbox one. Wish you could skip them fucking portraits at the beginning
How to redeem my Xbox 360 character to PC? Or does it automatically do it when I log in ? [editline]5th April 2015[/editline]
Your kidding right? It takes forever to load on consoles. Aleast on the xbox one. Wish you could skip them fucking portraits at the beginning
Xbox 360 had small load times and I had it on a thumb drive
With how big the game is, many won't be able to pre-load before release.
It's not that big. Stop thinking its going to be a 65 gig download. It's most likely going to be half of that. 65 is just the recommended amount you should have available post-installation so the game doesn't chug when trying to load it's assets. Look at Hardline, for example. The recommended requirements says 60 gigs even though the game is a 30 gig download.
im really hoping my GTX 650 is going to be able to handle this game because im going to cry after waiting this long if it cant
im really hoping my GTX 650 is going to be able to handle this game because im going to cry after waiting this long if it cant
The Recommended Nvidia card is the 660 2GB. You'll be fine!
it may be possible that gta v runs better than gta iv
Your kidding right? It takes forever to load on consoles. Aleast on the xbox one. Wish you could skip them fucking portraits at the beginning
Those portraits are the loading screen. The technical cert requirements for the 360 (So presumably the XB1, and I guess Sony have similar requirements) forbid having the same static screen for more than a couple of seconds. Apparently they expect console owners to have short attention spans??
it may be possible that gta v runs better than gta iv
I don't doubt that it will. GTA IV was a total mess of a port.
it may be possible that gta v runs better than gta iv
That's not hard to beat.
So for someone who downloads at 800kb/s to 1mb/s this would take how long? max 24 hours? Smells like bullshit to me
Hitting a max speed of 775 KB/S I've just grabbed Max Payne 3 (27.4gb) from steam in under 12 hours.
it may be possible that gta v runs better than gta iv
GTA 4 was a piss poor port and given the low requierements for GTA 5 it looks like that GTA5 is miles better, performance-wise.
Its gonna be such a fucking tease when i have the game preloaded, it sitting on my hardrive taunting me until release
days are going by pretty fast though. april fools felt like it was yesterday
days are going by pretty fast though. april fools felt like it was yesterday
It really did feel like that though it must have something to do with the hype, and the days are going by in a blur cause of that
It really did feel like that though it must have something to do with the hype, and the days are going by in a blur cause of that
I barely remember the 1st this year. Besides some fake news articles I don't recall any funny jokes or pranks.
I was just thinking about how fun playing V will be, then I realized my Pc can't even run IV long without overheating. It runs great, just not very long.
Here's how long it will take to download the 65 GB:
only one hour and a half. It's kinda sad i almost don't have any interest in playing games anymore.
65GB? Holy fuck. I thought the 48GB download of Call of Duty Advanced Warfare was huge.
I'm tempted to throw this on my 240GB 850 Evo with about 140-150GB free. [editline]6th April 2015[/editline] Worth it compared to a 2TB HDD?
