I think it's pretty bullshit that this is being claimed.
take that PS3 fanfags
Fanboyism doesn't get you far, Jessey. Neither does being a complete DICK.
If he didn't insist of having stupid sized textures then he might be able to have it on one disk.
Hi we're too lazy to further optimize this game for PS3 and/or are under time pressure so we will now talk technical limbo that fanboys will love.
are you kidding me. this is john carmack we're talking about. He made fricking doom 3 run on the iphone
Not very flexible then is he? "If it ain't a PC I can't do jack shit with it."
Oh right because all video games AREN'T made on computers and each and every developer should bend over and take it up the ass for not knowing how to harness the ultimate powah of teh cell and making everything run in 4D, right?

Also, hurray for over exaggeration!
xbox360>ps3 :smug:
4 discs? Holy fuck. Haven't seen that since FF7 on the PS1
FF7 was 3 disks. FF9 was 4 disks. :)
I'm pretty sure it's two discs, because it's far too expensive to do three.
no it isn't. [editline]07:47PM[/editline]
If he didn't insist of having stupid sized textures then he might be able to have it on one disk.
the one texture thing is pretty much for the entire map. splitting up the world texture into multiple textures would just raise file size.
Well yes, the RSX Is only a 7800 GT but the Xenos Is a 9600... ATi, Seriously, the fuck? Some reason I think he should work on optimization a bit...
4 disks for a stupid FPS? Wow, just wow.

That movie creeped me out.
PS3 version: 20 FPS 360 version: 60fps but with 4 disks PC version: As many FPS as your card can do with no need for disks once installed. ..Yup.
... Which is the same thing for 360. Just install the 4 discs on the harddrive, problem solved.
I don't care about the damn disks. I care about playing the game at a higher framerate than the PS3. :q:
... Which is the same thing for 360. Just install the 4 discs on the harddrive, problem solved.
Incorrect, 360's version is locked at 60fps maximum where as the PC can do as many as your rig will allow you. Not that you need over 75, it is also highly likely that the 360/PS3 will not run the game on full graphics. Also, PC will probably have modding capabilities. [editline]05:40PM[/editline] Also, installing on the HDD isn't an option if you're like me and have a 20gb HDD.
4 disks for a stupid FPS? Wow, just wow.
Final Fantasy 7 came on 3 disks. Your point?
We would love to set the thing up where it filled one Blu-ray disc versus three DVDs, which is about the right mix, but the game just…we can’t cut it into a third like that. We can cut it into two pieces. We’ve got two large wastelands on there. We just couldn’t make an arbitrary cut.
Carmack states that the game is designed in two main parts to accomodate the 360 version needing to be on more than one disk. It's two disks, not four, separating the game in half. I think the author of the article may be getting the four disk idea from id's other game, Doom 4.
Doom 4 is being set up so that it’s almost certainly going to be cut up to 3 DVDs versus one Blu-ray. At least they’ve got the ability because of the way it’s structured.
Being a more linear game, Doom 4 will be the game that can feasibly have three or more disks. 360 Rage = 2 disks.
Being a more linear game, Doom 4 will be the game that can feasibly have three or more disks.
I want it to be on like 5 disks for 2 reasons, 1 piss console gamers off (360 because ps3 has blu-ray) 2: means it will be massive, massive story line, massive detail, massive engine, just massive, I love massive games especially with an epic series like doom.
