This is really stupid. She should definitely be removed from her position, but arrested? I thought this was 2015, why are people being arrested for speech in a first world country?
Because 'free speech' has always been limited, even in the best countries for free speech (probably the US is the best because of the 1st Amendment). You've never been allowed to incite violence or falsely cause panic (by this, I mean that you are not allowed to shout 'fire!' in a busy theatre when there isn't one). [editline]7th October 2015[/editline] Though I personally don't think she should have been arrested, because I don't think this is a legitimate incitement to violence, just her being an imbecile.
She should have been fired and definitely reprimanded and made an example of, but arrested? I don't know how things work in the UK in terms of hate speech/threats of violence, but here that is no grounds for arrest whatsoever.
This is bullshit. Removed from office, sure. Actually being arrested for it? Get the fuck out.

Goldsmith's diversity officer vote of no confidence petition fails
Nope. Student council agrees with her views. Because a diversity officer should genocidal.
Diversity means every race* * Except white people.
It's about time this annoying cunt was dealt with.
People have been arrested for a lot less on twitter in the UK over recent years
Diversity means every race* * Except white people.
I guess thats what happens when people set up this narrative of "privileged oppressed white men vs poor people of color & all women"
This is really stupid. She should definitely be removed from her position, but arrested? I thought this was 2015, why are people being arrested for speech in a first world country?
You can be arrested for hate speech Britain and I think Europe too. Personally I think it's stupid because comments made on the internet are almost always hyperbolic or said with a hint of sarcasm or jest. At the same time however, if you can be arrested for hate speech, then you should be arrested whether you're saying "kill all the negroes bro" or "kill all the whiteboys yo".
Jail the cunt.
Why does she wanna kill me? isn't that 'kill all white men' some kinda meme thing?
I say we should just nuke all the whiteys.
How can someone say they're pro-free speech and then celebrate someone getting arrested for giving their (admittedly atrocious) opinion?
Because hate speech isn't free speech..
So because I have free speech I am allowed to say "Kill all Mexicans" and it's not ok for me to be arrested on grounds that I might be an actual psychopath? lol ok "Freedom of speech" doesn't literally mean you can say whatever you want [editline]7th October 2015[/editline] If I said "Gas all the fucking jews" I'm pretty sure arresting me would be justified
Why does she wanna kill me? isn't that 'kill all white men' some kinda meme thing?
Yes but not because some jackass got people to parrot it on 4chan or Youtube or wherever. There's a certain kind of activist that says these kinds of things; they stretch the definition of nonviolence to include any hate speech or threats they may be responsible for, and usually assert that they're "making a point" whenever this gets brought into question. There are always people who will stand by these statements, regardless of whether it was made by them or someone else, and at that point the whole thing seems so off to a lot of people that they have trouble letting it go. It's nothing new, some people spend decades demanding to know how these things happen among traditionally nonviolent activists. The evolution of hashtag feminism is pretty much driven by this effect.
This is bullshit. Removed from office, sure. Actually being arrested for it? Get the fuck out.
Most people who are pro free speech are generally pro freedom of expression rather than speech. They merely don't understand the nuances. Also she's not been arrested. Merely charged.
