hell ya, we got fields and fields, but tornados? naa those are rare, the weather changes too fast for them to form
No kidding. I've always wanted to see a tornado (hopefully never a super deadly and destructive one, see: Xenia 1974) but the weather always changes so quickly. :( I do enjoy the storms though, I love lightning!
Indianapolis seems like the one safe place from tornadoes, being a "big" city and all.
That's what they want us to think. :v:
Is it true you guys build trailer parks in strategic locations to keep tornadoes from blowing through large cities?
Indianapolis seems like the one safe place from tornadoes, being a "big" city and all.
Why have you jynxed us so... This year will be the year...
Why have you jynxed us so... This year will be the year...
Oh god what has he done
It's passed for now for where I live in Kansas, county's still under Tornado Watch though. Damn, day right before my birthday.
shawnee got fucking destroyed.
I saw that. There was flat out nothing left standing. ---- NE Oklahoma checking in. The first two super cells went north of me and the third one went south. Pretty much all we got was some heavy rain, a bit of thunder, and a momentary rainbow. Pretty much, if you haven't already, it's time to go down in the cellar and do some cleaning. I have a black widow I need to evict. Bitch owes me rent.
I would be nervous about my town sounding tornado sirens, but they blare them if somebody has a powerful fart.
Ohio pals!
Yay ohio [t]http://www.nataliedee.com/052005/ohio.jpg[/t]
I really want to see a tornado. I'd be scared as fuck don't get me wrong, but they're truly an awesome sight to witness. I live in the midwest and I've never had one close enough to me, which is a blessing and a curse I guess.
north dakota hasn't experienced anything but huge thunderstorms. it's been raining for about 3 days straight now.
Welcome to the same situation in southern Manitoba, sans the thunderstorms part.
We need bill paxton and helen hunt to fight the tornadoes

So what is it like when a tornado appears? I live in California in a city where nothing bad ever happens
Apparently a big storm with tornadoes is heading my way. (Suburbs of Chicago area)

Yup, heard that I should just stay home tomorrow and hide until I'm killed by nature. Fun
I slept through the sirens. Does this mean I'm cool? All we got was hard rain. Very windy hard rain that knocked over some traffic lights. This town always gets missed by the skin of its teeth. :) I think it's because we technically live in a valley. Maybe that's just bullshit, but I've heard it before.
Surprisingly, the South East didn't get any bad tornado outbreaks this year. Good luck Western states.
Tornado watch until 3 AM in Sauk county, Wisconsin. Lovely.

When the storm was by mercy hospital in north okc, it was right down the road where i live, it never formed it just kept going down then back up. Also people in Oklahoma are use to tornadoes, we also like to sit outside and watch it if it isn't supposed to hit us.

missouri don't give a shit
I lived in Dallas, TX in the early 90s. I think it was 1991 when there were two F5 tornadoes that came during the same week (one on Monday, one on Wednesday) and tore up large chunks of the city. They both struck at night, and I can remember seeing them being lit up from behind whenever lightning struck, or some substation exploded. Both were a mile wide and air raid sirens were going off all over the city. The last tornado I was in was in 2004, and it was just a F1. All it did was knock power out, rip the roof off a gas station, damage a few houses and destroyed some trees.
Insert token "global warming ermagod" post here. Seriously though, as things get worse, we're going to see more >Tornadoes >Hurricanes >Flooding in general. Hold on to your hats, Americans, because it's only going to get more insane from here on out. I fucking mean it. [editline]20th May 2013[/editline] I mean, fuck we set historical records for tornadoes last year. As in more tornadoes recorded than in all of history.
I aint even afraid of tornados.
