Hope you all who get caught up in this horrible mess are doing ok. I can't even imagine going through something like this. Stay safe.
I JUST moved to Vermont from South east rural Oklahoma(HI MAUD). This crap happens every year and the dummies are NEVER prepared.
Hope all my friends are alright :(

Quite possibly no survivors in Plaza Towers Elementary school.
Back when the first colons moved to the US, if they knew they were about to set foot on a land regularly plagued with fucking tornadoes, storms and constant proofs of nature's deep hatred for everything, do you think they would still have considered moving in ?
yeah
Our state (Indiana) used to put the tornado sirens on at the sight of anything remotely resembling a cloud. Dark cloud? Sirens. Light cloud? Sirens. Large cat? Sirens.
They just recently decided that we are all desensitized the sound. So now they only put the siren on when there is an absolute for sure thing to worry about...
So unfortunately, now every time I hear that siren I think, "Ahh, I'll be alright, this happens....... why is the sky green... oh jesus."
I was at work and was able to look out the front of my office and see the cell clouds.

Where i live (Indiana also) they put sirens in Terre Haute but deactivated the sirens in West Terre Haute which nobody can hear the sirens obviously with it being far away. We come before Terre Haute so if any Tornado were to come Terre Haute would be prepared but we wouldnt.
Checking in again. I'm fine. The storm that hit Moore was heading my way and mom and I were prepped an hour before the storm was supposed to get here, but it ended up falling apart just as it reached us. The tornadic part was going to go south of us, but given the size of the tornadoes it produced, we were about ready to dive for the storm cellar.
In regards to the earlier discussion about shelters:
Most below ground shelters run anywhere from four thousand to close to ten thousand dollars, depending on the size and material it's made out of. I think the one my grandma had installed about ten years ago cost about five thousand.
The in house safety rooms can run a lot more, and can be a bit more problematic if you have an older home since they need to be installed. They start at five thousand and run up into the hundreds of thousands. That's for the base unit. If you pay the company to install, the price goes up dramatically.
For the average home owner, this isn't something that they can afford.
I live in norman OK which is right next to moore. All i can say is moore is gone. best part is im actually in Alabama for this week. talk about getting lucky. i did give my cousin and his family the code to our house. their house has a 75 percent chance of being gone :c
55 is the current death toll. 24 plaza town elementary children are thought to be a part of that...
It was nice laying in a hall covered with pillows and a blanket. Feel sorry for the kids in school that got injured.
those poor fucking kids...
missourian here, it's storming like a motherfucker wow
Those kids are going to be scarred and terrified of tornadoes for the rest of their lives
That tornado was fucking massive, it was like a mile long. Watching the news right now and they're saying it leveled several elementary schools and they're recovering children bodies.. it is pretty bad, OK just got hit by a tornado yesterday and the day before i believe.

I'm a little tardy to the party, but fuck them. Those shitkickers are talking about my home state!
I work at the hospital in Norman, just south of Moore. Spent all afternoon in the ER. The place is packed. This shit's seriously fucked up.
oooo
Okay I just moved from south Florida where hurricanes aren't that scary to the suburbs of northern Chicago
Do torandos come here? Is this big one coming here? I don't know shit about tornados or warning signs
Chicago can be hut by tornadoes but this particular tornado is long gone. Most only last a few minutes.
