The conclusion should be clear already: Chinese Government is anti-Islam. Several similar incident had happened in the past. One in particular includes banning Ramadhan fasting http://www.bbc.com/news/world-asia-china-28123267 Any further speculation on China anti-Islamic stand is redundant.
Not that this isn't blalenty targeted at muslims or anything, but there is quite the difference etwheen a "piece of cloth over the mouth" and a freaking burka.
I think banning burkas and niqabs from public places is a perfectly valid thing to do, but it is pretty clear that they aren't doing it as some kind of safety measure or because they think it is oppressing. They are banning things that aren't even covering the wearers face not to mention the banning of fastening. How do you even enforce that? force feed people? Like someone in this thread said before, this is just the chinese government censoring things that aren't chinese.

Young men who has large beard and wears traditional cloths are encouraged to shave their beard and wear clothing that shows less "Devotions". Those who doesn't comply will be placed on a list where the government will in occasionally visit and investigated. Young females who wears the burqa are now encourages to substitutions " pic 2 for the 3 cut out pic". Government officials will now begin inspections and initiate "face to face" discussion with the citizen and various other communication mediums to prevent rebellious actions of the region. Pic 1 says (Please don't wear these kind of cloths) Pic 2 says (Encouraged replacement for burqa in pic 1) Pic 3 goes in the order (Traditional clothing from other cultures, encouraged clothing for older females, encouraged clothing for teenagers, encouraged clothing for young married females.)
I'm going to say something wholly true but quite controversial. China or Islam are going to take over the world one day, and I sure hope it's the Chinese.
Islam won't take over the world. Like every other religion, it's slowly losing its former power. In the middle ages, Islamic societies regularly tortured people to death, killed philosophers, frequently went to war, burned books, and executed people for petty crimes. Even the better off and more tolerant ones had restrictions on religious and ethnic minorities, heavy taxation, and still suffered from famine and disease. These days, what I described above is the exception and not the norm. Morocco and Turkey are two countries that are nothing like their Medieval Islamic counterparts. As for Saudi Arabia and Iran, where things are certainly much more repressed, I don't see them continuing on that path much longer.

[editline]14th January 2015[/editline] if you honestly think a hood is that disconcerting when this shit is about: you should sort it out in your head.
Kind of ironic that modern china doesn't really have a culture of its own from what I can tell.
Well they only worship Mao. In the terms of Maoism, which is created by the government as a lame ass attempt to make culture in communist China. The only real way you can find actual Chinese culture is to find actual China towns in cities like Los Angeles, New York, or others since most of those people who live there were people who escaped Mao's regime, and luckily carried enough Chinese culture with them. What the hell are you talking about, basically all of our modern math came from Muslim scholars during the 9-11th century. Without those guys, we wouldn't have known Algebra or Algorithms. And if we had no idea what Algorithms were, we would basically have no computers then. and here is proof http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Muḥammad_ibn_Mūsā_al-Khwārizmī
if you were being melodramatic about not being able to find chinese culture outside of china then fine, but if you were being serious then you're wrong, very wrong.
Well i just meant that you are able to find more things about Chinese culture outside of China more easier than inside of it since Communism basically destroyed most of it.
i dunno, i've been there and whilst in the big cities and with government funded guides there was very much a "china looks after it's people, we are very successful nation, everyone is very happy" message being forced upon us, in the rural parts it was oozing with culture. a beautiful country, in places.

The point is that they still didn't live very well. Muslim societies then weren't famed for their tolerance any more than European or Indian or China was (consider Sicily and Poland). Like all "Golden Ages", the Islamic golden age is a myth that lacks historical evidence and cherrypicks extensively. While it is true they had examples of tolerance, great philosophers, etc, they still practiced public execution and torture. The Sunnis and Shiites butchered each other and burned down cities. Medieval European societies did much the same.
