Good night sweet prince.
That's the one. I even remember my thoughts when I saw it. "I don't know what's more nerdy, the fact that it's a programming joke or the fact that I can actually understand it."
This PDP-11/84 is going to need a nice install of BSD on it.
NO. Just, NO. Please be a joke?
He is running Windows 98 in that picture.
He is running Windows 98 in that picture.
No, he's running Unix.
No, he's running Unix.
Are you sure? I see a classic Win98 setup there.
He did more to computing than Steve ever did.
He did more to computing than Steve ever did.
No shit :V OS X is based off Unix.
He did more to computing than Steve ever did.
What are you talking about, Steve took computers... And made them shiny!
I feel bad because I don't even know who this person is, and I'm a programmer... but now that I know what he invented, he certainly was more important to computers than Steve Jobs.
Oh god, Bill Gates is up next.
Bill Gates is going to live to a million years old with his good karma. He's nice to everyone and donates so much.
I wonder how he spelt his name before he invented C.
I wonder how he spelt his name before he invented C.
Dennis Ritchie
I, like others here, think that this deserves more media coverage than Steve Jobs, but in truth it's similar to the way everyone says doctors should be paid more than footballers. The truth is, Steve made a huge, publicly visible impact on a large number of peoples day to day lives, that was acknowledged by everyone and publicised in the media. The difference with Dennis is that despite his contribution to the world of computing being (in my opinion) vastly superior, and undoubtedly paving the way for people like Jobs, our very materialistic society only recognises the person who invents the car, not the wheel. Horrendous analogies aside, RIP.
So a money-grubbing asshole who made billions from reselling the same shit to idiots for years get more coverage than a man who contributed an amount to modern computing that is unlikely to be bested? Fuck everyone on this planet, fuck you all.

RIP If there ever was a god, we just lost him.
