no it's essentially all the same thing. "anonymous is legion" comes from 4chan and people from 4chan and similar sites use it
It's like the Italians invading France during the second world war. They failed completely despite the defender being mostly engaged in more pressing matters.
"anonymous is legion" comes from 4chan and people from 4chan and similar sites use it
You haven't browsed 4chan before, have you? Saying that someone thinks "ANON IS LEGION NEVER FORGIVE NEVER FORGET" is an insult there. The phrase is hated. They don't want to be associated with the CYBER TERRORIST HACKER ANONYMOUS you hear about in the news. Since the name Anonymous means very little and can be picked up and discarded easily, I think people try to rally up the users of 4chan by calling themselves Anonymous. You know, if they do some kind of internet hacker raid whatever and call themselves Anonymous, they hope that then other people will think "oh man that's the mighty internet legion ANON i'm afraid of them." It really means nothing, though.
If they keep this up, we'll see the end of internet anonymity by the end of this decade. Get used to posting everything under your real name and putting in a social security number for every forum you register on.
Pretty much this. This is how it always happens, a group of idiots who can't see 5 feet in front of their faces push things too far and ruin it for everyone. By doing this shit they're basically handing the US government a golden ticket to do whatever they want with the web. The fact that they don't realize that, and believe they're in the middle of some righteous rebellion means they're either delusional or working for the government in the first place. Tinfoil hat all you want, but if that is how is, it's probably one of the best ideas they've ever come up with.
There are other boards on 4chan, and not all of them are shitty and retarded.
the FBI uses the internet to check for e-mails and that's about it.
teens aged 26 years old?
They all live with their parents anyways so what's the difference?
This is what they choose to do with there lives.
No, this is what they chose in lieu of having lives.
um hi anonymous you aren't made up of amazing hackers who can pose an actual threat to the F.B.I. you know who does have amazing hackers and computer experts and shit though? The F.B.I.
I have to agree with their cause even though they will most likely fail, I hope we can at least expose some of the bullshit that is going on in this country.
Anonymous is stupid.
Oh man.. If I worked for the FBI. I'd laugh so hard. Then get my co-workers to come look at my screen. Whilst holding a cup of coffee. They'd all burst out laughing.
All the FBI has to do is shut down the Mountain Dew and Cheeto production lines They'll starve em out
I can just imagine, their keyboards are covered in a thick layer of orange crust.
might as well delete facepunch then cause this place is filled with 4 channers.
no just ban the 4channers
Strange I could have sworn most of anonymous hated lulsec originally.
Strange I could have sworn most of anonymous hated lulsec originally.
Yeah, but this is Annonymous.
Strange I could have sworn most of anonymous hated lulsec originally.
As I said earlier, Anonymous is a name anyone can claim. The userbase of 4chan does indeed dislike Lulzsec, but anyone is free to claim they are "Anonymous", regardless of 4chan or anyone else who refers to themselves at Anonymous. Come on guys, Anonymous is not an actual organization in any way, it's a meaningless name anyone can use. You guys always forget. ):
I AM ANONYMOUS. I want to be anonymous, leave me alone mommy! What? I can't do what I want?! MOMMMYYY!!!
anon dun goofed
This sounds more like something that Lulzsec would do than Anonymous.
Wait a minute. Didn't a news article pop up about a month ago that said the F.B.I has 1 in 4 hackers being informants for them? And not the ones with just the ability to send out a LOIC attack.
"My posse is ready."
No because 4chan's staff isn't involved in any of Anon's activities. It's just a common meeting place for them and if Anon gets in a really bad position 4chan's staff would definitely not want them on their site.
They're giving an outlet for a variety of illegal activities, they are well within their limits to shut down 4chan. It's bastion of illegal activity.
Anon... Prepare your anus
this is just getting sad, why do they want attention so badly? Didn't their parents love them? Were they bullied in school?
Watch them all get arrested.
They're giving an outlet for a variety of illegal activities, they are well within their limits to shut down 4chan. It's bastion of illegal activity.
I keep trying to tell you guys, there is a big difference between people claiming to be Anonymous and the actual website 4chan. There is not a single mention, from /b/ to /x/, on 4chan of the FBI or being a hacker collective on 4chan right now. Taking down 4chan would do nothing. Whatever group of people the article mentions is their own group of people separate from any other "Anonymous" or 4chan. Whatever plans they form to "take on" the FBI or whatever they plan on doing are not formed on 4chan.
The person who made the statement sounds like a complete tool. "Chaos on the Internet will not be tolerated". "If you try to arrest us the citizens will uproar blah blah etc." Grow the fuck up.
The only thing we can do is: sit back, let it unfold, and lol.
For some reason all of this Anonymous/LulzSec business is sounding like the plot of some episode of South Park.
