it intrigues me how most of his followers haven't seen through his bullshit yet i mean even if you are ok with this it's blatantly obvious he's in it for the power.
Thats how the Caliphate has always worked. It always belongs to the most powerful person willing to claim the title.

I believe the last Caliph was Abdülmecid II of the Ottoman Empire who ruled until 1924 (the Ottomans were often seen as rightful Caliphs even as far away as Indonesia, no other Muslim nation had the prestige and power of the Ottomans, even though not one sultan completed the hajj to Mecca)

They claimed the title Caliph mainly to ensure stability amongst the Shiite and Ibadi peoples that they ruled over in areas such as Basra (Iraq) and southern Syria. The Ottomans, up until the late 19th century, had a bizarre treatment of religion. The Christians and Jews had their own government, court system, laws, taxes, etc., but sometimes those protections would be totally revoked at arbitrary times. Iirc it wasn't until the period of turkification and the rise of the Young Turks Party that religion became sort of a backburner issue, but of course the Young Turks are one of the worst things that happened to the Ottomans so its debatable.
Saw an article about this in the Washington Post yesterday. Made me feel physically sick just to read the headline. People are fucked up.
How Isis exist blows my fucking mind. The depravity is equal to that of the Nazi regiems of ww2.

I don't recall hearing about huge Ibadite population in Ottoman ruled areas, they never had direct influence over Oman, Mzab, and Djerba was ruled by Tunis iirc
How Isis exist blows my fucking mind. The depravity is equal to that of the Nazi regiems of ww2.
alot worse i'd imagine

Usually I need to clear that up in debates at home/school so it's just second nature. Also Ibadis, iirc, were in areas of Ottoman libya, but I'm not sure now that I think of it
can we please put a mechanized division or two in Iraq
can we please put a mechanized division or two in Iraq
So that you and many others can turn around and cry about imperialism the moment they arrive?
People who want hellfires upon ISIS and bag daddy, do you not realize that they're not the only ones living in those regions?
People who want hellfires upon ISIS and bag daddy, do you not realize that they're not the only ones living in those regions?
Almost everyone will be quick to condemn airstrikes from unmanned aircraft but far less seem to care about jets dropping bombs on ISIS even though the collateral damage is identical.
alot worse i'd imagine
I don't think you can get worse really, both groups have pretty much bottomed out on evil.
While ISIS violates tons of human rights, no western country is doing anything. Hopefully ISIS will get their hands on nuclear weapons so that America will finally invade them. But if Britain captures all ISIS militants, then they'll give them 1 year jail time and after that put them on benefits.

As Bernie says, the problems on the region could be fixed if actual countries of that region came together to fight isis, however they just expect the west to do it.
