The thing that really annoys me about this is that they act like Kanye is the worst person in the world, and that no other musician ever has been a complete ass
What bothers me is that people respect this asshole for being "courageous" for standing out against other musicians and shit like that. He can be a good artist and not be a total douchebag and asshole. He has good songs, but by no means would I consider him a genius or our generations best rapper... at all. Have you guys even listened to Yeezus? Christ that album was pretentious garbage. He tried to stand out way too hard with it and it just sounds... bad. If I wanted music like that, I would listen to Death Grips.
I will say that Kanye is an excellent producer but not a talented rapper whatsoever - Bound 2 made me realize this. He is a complete ass and doesn't deserve any respect in my opinion. He is so stubbornly prideful and it is a shame because I could respect him if he would just calm down his ridiculous ego.
the people voting for this remind me of those people that feel the need to bump in to a conversation and say they hate whatever the topic is
I don't prefer listening to Kanye West, but I can appreciate some of the crazy beats he produces. I also think the media over reports on negative aspects of his personality and people's responses fuel the fire.

Forgot about this but goddamn it's so good
but every time he puts out a record he changes every pop genre on the market. the dude creates genre. what genre are you talking about?
wtf
I was gonna post something like this but you basically got there first.
I'm not the biggest fan of hip-hop, rap, etc. but I can appreciate a fair bit of it that comes from artists who give a shit. Kanye is one of those artists, he basically redefines shit when he releases an album. If he sounds generic, it's likely because everybody tried to hop on his style and you're listening to the album a few years late. It's almost impressive really just how much he influences other artists.
Shame he has to keep getting the media attention that makes him look like a bit of a shithead, he seems to have his heart in the right place. I can't think of many times I've seen news of him attacking people or getting kicked out of places. Just him hopping up on stage out of turn and junk.
Ok, maybe I'm wrong, eh. I'm just fed up of having to go to work and listen to 8 hours of rap/pop every day on the radio. Can't wait until my lab is finished so I can move in there and work in piece and quiet.
I come home and then my sister has it loud on her laptop in the room above me, the room to the side of me is the kitchen and mum has it on the radio too.... SAVE ME.
i feel for your horrific suffering but i hope you realize your just generalising random music like kanye into this dislike of pop music you have
I don't know much about Kanye West, but he put AKIRA and Daft Punk into the same music video, and for this he has my respect.

He's assaulted paparazzi before, and he tends to speak his mind at inappropriate moments, and that's pretty much the reason the media is so critical of him. His success is built on his arrogance. He's got a sort of love-hate-relationship with the media - he rakes in absurd amounts of critical and popular awards, but "pop media" rags on him whenever possible.
If Kanye was a rock musician in the 60s before TMZ and other shitty tabloids became so huge, any and all music fans would adore him and he'd be the defining artist of the entire genre. He is the defining artist of an entire genre, and people who are really into that genre almost universally adore him. People outside of the scene don't realize why it's seen as so good - because it's like listening to early 70s psychedelic rock and saying "wow this sounds just like tame impala it's nothing new." You end up ignoring that Tame Impala is based on the innovations made by these earlier bands. Hip-hop's a rapid-fire, fast-moving genre, and Kanye manages to change the direction the genre as a whole takes every couple of years. The only person close to his influence in hip-hop, and arguably modern music, is Drake.
I'm gonna be real people over hype him quite a bit. I didn't really enjoy Yeezus compared to older stuff

I know some really annoying Kanye fans that are both really insecure and also bombastic about how they don't give a fuck, when it is clear they do. It's almost as if they aspire to Kanye's public image as opposed to Kanye.
However, that isn't all of Kanye's fans, and using that to argue about Kanye himself is irrelevant, really.
Is Kanye better than Deltron 3030 though?
Kanye West is a silly silly man. I don't listen to his music, but I've always heard that it's very very good. Are these people afraid that having him play at a music festival will somehow affect them personally?
2 bands really... Eisbrecher & Rammstein....I have yet to find another band like them.
Pitty neither have toured in years.
I'll bite, check out literally any neue deutsche harte band, not to mention rammstein got their sound from oomph! anyway.
Just about all the big festivals in England this year are shite anyway
What kind of person actually hates Kanye
Me
When I was younger I hated kanye west because back then I thought he "ruined" harder better faster stronger but I really like that song now and i got into hiphop
In fact I think I really started listening previous december
Also the autotune thing I really like how it is used in runaway at the end, at first it sounds like melodic compressed guitar noise but eventually you can make out words and it was kanye all along my mind was blown (is it even autotune?)
I really love the Kanye debate, it gets really heated really easily. Regardless of what the guy does or has done, one can't deny that he provokes some intense emotional reactions from people, all across the spectrum.

"Everybody feel a way about K but at least you all feel something"
Every time you call him a 'genius' a scientist working on AIDS research puts down his test tube and thinks they're on the wrong path.
then why is there millions of scientists but only one kanye west
Kangay West le (C)rapper!! Why can't we have real music like AC/DC on there ughhhhhhhhh
What kind of person actually hates Kanye
I used to hate Kanye West, but I thought about it and there's really no reason to care enough to hate him. Plus, there's a ton of musicians who are way, way worse than him when it comes to ego and stuff.
I found out about some of the cool stuff Kanye West does that isn't ever reported as much as his problems in the spotlight. I think he's someone who's got a hard time dealing with actually being in the spotlight with some things, and I don't know if he is able to articulate what he means very well in those situations.
Plus, even with those things he's done, you've gotta learn to let go and not be a huge ass that constantly brings up the past.

At least when Kanye was an ass to Taylor Swift and Beck it was funny, fast, and wasn't a super personal insult.
When I watched that I felt really bad for the guy. Like, for a second I thought it was sarcasm and a good joke
then she just didn't fucking stop.

Also as for the whole Kanye debate, I like him in the same way I like most other artists: I like whatever songs of theirs I like and I don't like whatever I don't like. He has a few really good songs, then he has a few really shit ones.
Like I fucking love "Welcome to Heartbreak"
