Sending a swat team after someone going 20MPH seems like a little much don't you think?
jfc they hit him with a tank
Good play by the swat van.
I change tab and I miss the best part, aww.
Looked like that one SWAT member tried to hit him with the stock of his gun before being pushed off by another guy.
Good to see everything turned out fine without problems.

swat van != tank
textbook stuff

Police brutality! Police brutality! (Satire for the record.)
Soon as that swat van made its appearance it was bad news bears. Dude should've taken off.

if he poses a threat (someone earlier mentioned slow chases can often be bait to get cops in close to attack), yeah having a solid team of imposing people is important to ensure he doesn't end up injuring police or passers-by on the highway
If you're driving the wrong way up a freeway during rush hour or driving through peoples yards they're gonna take you out, seems pretty justified to me.

I wouldn't be surprised if he was pretty badly injured, having his vehicle rammed into a wall by a multi-ton combat vehicle. It seemed pretty overkill.
SWAT gets sent in on long dangerous chases. Since the guy was weaving through residential areas and becoming a hazard, they sent in the big vehicles. Both on the response and intimidation factor.
You might as well give up when SWAT shows up. It's an armored car that can do 75mph filled with armed men. You're not getting away from it at that point.

He was driving really dangerously, so there was a high risk of him getting someone injured because of his reckless driving behaviour. Also, they had no idea what kind of person this was. Maybe he was carrying a gun, explosives, etc.
There's no way to know what's going through that person's head.

Pitting him with a police car could have been pretty dangerous for the officers as he is likely a suspect in a different crime. Much more likely to have an officer get hurt pitting him in the squad car than you are for an officer to get hurt bulldozing the car with the SWAT van.
Hahahha I passed this on the other side of the highway coming home from work

Fair enough - It just seemed to me as if the tactics themselves were pretty aggressive, when a more controlled maneuver should have been able to be executed at those speeds. I might just be armchair-policing though. I'll concede though that near the end of the chase he was driving crazily enough to warrant an elevated response, and to pose a risk to himself and others.

They didn't try anything when he was going slow because then he'd have the initiative if stopped to start a gunfight or whatever. It's safer for everyone to take him out at mid to high speed on a freeway with a heavy vehicle; that way, the crash itself has the least chance of harming any officers; he'll be stunned as he exits the vehicle so the police got the initiative, and it's easy to block off traffic to keep bystanders safe.
Can someone post a video?
