Though I'm glad Rooney Mara got nominated for best actress.
Gary Oldman for best actor. Why isn't Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy on the list for best movie? Easily the best film I've seen in the past two or three years. well, that or The Kings Speech.
BEST SOUND MIXING Transformers: Dark of the Moon - Greg P. Russell, Gary Summers, Jeffrey J. Haboush and Peter J. Devlin swib swib swib swib swib swib swib swoooosh
Just now found out that one of the sound guys is Norwegian.
Tintin, Drive and Rise of The Planet of The Apes aren't there, but War Horse and Hugo are? I knew I'd be disappointed at this, but I didn't know it'd be this much [editline]24th January 2012[/editline]
Nah. Unfurtonately, we already saw that movie being released here. Hugo, Moneyball, all of these are not out over here. Girl with the Dragon Tattoo is. Tintin just came out. Hollywood is weird. Sometimes, movies are released here before they are on Brazil, sometimes a week later, sometimes a month later, sometimes three months later, sometimes never.
I'm pretty sure Drive wasn't even released at the theaters here
Why is one of our films in best foreign language, ours tend to suck massive dick. Then again I haven't seen Bull Head so I'll save that and go see it myself.
Rango was fucking awesome, but Tintin was technically better.
I hate how they just forget every other movie that wasn't near the end of the year. Where the hell is drive?
Artist or Midnight in Paris for best film. Surprised Drive got in there, usually the academy hates those kinds of movies.
Tintin, Drive and Rise of The Planet of The Apes aren't there, but War Horse and Hugo are?
Planet of The Apes is just an action movie no? Drive, I mentioned before that the academy hates these kinds of movies most of the time. Tintin, although I haven't seen it, animated movies get no recognition in the Academy. They have their own section anyway.
I hated it. All the directorial skill in the world can't make up for a dull as dishwater story.
I came out the movie trying to think of what happened and I couldn't. There wasn't a plot at all [editline]24th January 2012[/editline]
Artist or Midnight in Paris for best film.
Shit I might have to see Midnight in Paris. Usually I avoid movies my sister recommends like the plague
Only one I've seen on that list was Tree of Life, and that was one of those movies that went WAAAAY over my head. I was seriously wondering what the fuck was going on the entire time. For those that don't know, it's about a boy growing up and his relationship mainly with his father and family, but there's so much symbolism and artistic scenes and shit that I didn't understand half of why the fuck they were in the movie. For example, there's literally a 20 minute scene showing shots of outer space and dinosaurs.
I haven't watched a single one of these movies.
lmao ok are you actually proud of this or something?
Where the fuck is Drive? Oscars are so much shit, War Horse and Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close don't deserve best picture nominations. I just fucking hope the Artist win for everything then.
Yeah. I haven't seen every (good) movie this year, but The Artist is my favorite so far. [editline]24th January 2012[/editline]
lmao no love for drive, great job as usual academy. At least they didn't nominate cars 2 and got this right BEST ACTOR Gary Oldman - Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy
I think we both know the Academy is going to blow their load all over Clooney.
Only one of these movies came out over here in Brazil.
Which is why the The Oscars are less relevant to people in your country.
Is it already almost time for the country to watch as these people pat themselves on the back?
What the fuck? Tintin isn't picked for the best animation? Tintin probably has the best animation I've ever seen in a movie.

Rango was fucking awesome, but Tintin was technically better.
The Adventures of Tintin didn't get a nomination because Acadamy does not count motion capture as a animation. There are some special rules about that.
The Artist really is just Oscar bait. I honestly don't want it to win anything.
I hope Midnight in Paris gets best picture, I fucking loved it.
Really bad year for movies... is there anything to look forward to for 2012?
Gary Oldman always gets snubbed and it pisses me off every time. I'm really rooting for him this year.
Tree of Life for Cinematography, surely. [editline]25th January 2012[/editline] Tintin was the most technically impressive animation I've ever seen, and despite it being a little bit of a dull story, it was still a great film.
The Adventures of Tintin didn't get a nomination because Acadamy does not count motion capture as a animation. There are some special rules about that.
Then Tintin is considered a normal movie? still better than many in that list
The Artist really is just Oscar bait. I honestly don't want it to win anything.
The Artist was a good film? Why do you even hate it?
I've heard of... ...NONE of these movies.
This year was pretty meh. In 2010 we had great movies like The Fighter, Inception and True Grit, while in 2011 there wasn't anything that special. 2012 sounds promising, though
The Artist is going to win because it's an old people movie, and old people movies are what the Oscars are.
The Artist isn't an old people movie, are you fucking dumb? It's one of the few legitimate good films that's nominated. But I guess it's not really a film for 12 year olds.
This is the worst nomination year yet.
