I've heard of...
...NONE of these movies.
hey guess what
NOBODY gives a SHIT go back to watching fucking transformers or fuckign uwe boll movies and sucking peter jackson's cock or whatever it is you do when discussing movies
This year was pretty meh. In 2010 we had great movies like The Fighter, Inception and True Grit, while in 2011 there wasn't anything that special.
2012 sounds promising, though
The Dark Knight Rises had better get best picture, or us Nolan fanboys will flame the academy to ash

Peter Jackson deserves to have his cock sucked.
The Dark Knight Rises had better get best picture, or us Nolan fanboys will flame the academy to ash
are you fucking kidding me
the movie ISN'T EVEN FUCKING OUT YET and you have already formed the opinion that it's literally the best film of 2012
are you fucking kidding me

that's how fanboys work.
Moneyball had no baseball in it and gave away 99% of the plot in the trailer. I really didn't think much of it.
It's not the destination, it's the journey. If the only thing you want in a movie is an end, then you're doing it wrong probably
that's how fanboys work.
so you're a bad person and admit it and act like it's something to be proud of
cool
HOW WAS TINTIN NOT NOMINATED FOR BEST FILM?!?!
HOW WAS TINTIN NOT NOMINATED FOR BEST FILM?!?!
WHY WASN'T I PERSONALLY CONSULTED IN THE NOMINATION OF THESE FILMS? I DON'T UNDERSTAND!
[editline]24th January 2012[/editline]
AS SOMEONE WHO USES THE INTERNET I HAVE A GOD-GIVEN RIGHT TO BE CONSULTED BEFORE OSCAR NOMINATIONS ARE MADE
Also, Drive is easily the best picture this year. It's an amazing film. Truly amazing. The camera work through to the editing, the acting, the scripts really strong, the lighting and the shot choice. I've easily gotten in hour or two long conversations about that films technical strengths with friends.
so you're a bad person and admit it and act like it's something to be proud of

thank you.
2012 will have tons of superhero films, just like 2011
is it some kind of fad, wtf
[editline]25th January 2012[/editline]
looking forward to the last batman movie though

...did you just notice the super hero movie fad?
pretty sure that shit is going on a decade old at this point

well, it was never as bad as it is now
the new batman movie, new spiderman (with a sequel already in the works), avengers and deadpool, I don't think I've ever seen so many superhero movies announced
You are taking this too personally, Cl0ck.
The Artist is an extremely interesting experiment. I commend it for being black and white, silent, 4:3, but because of that it really is Oscar bait.
For the people who's complaining for why is TinTin not in best animation nominee.
Here's why.
The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced the 2012 Oscar nominees, and many people were outraged by the absence of 'The Adventures of Tintin' for Best Animation.
There was injustice, but a rule of the Academy.
By regulation, movies created from motion capture animation are not considered. With this, Tintin was left out of the category.
If so, then they should consider a motion capture performance, and indicate Andy Serkis ('Planet of the Apes: The Source') for Best Actor, which did not happen.
Still. . . I can't get over how Tintin wasn't nominated for anything except it's score.
Really bad year for movies... is there anything to look forward to for 2012?
2012 is gonna be a fucking great year for movies. Prometheus, Seven Psychopaths, Django Unchained, The Dark Knight Rises, Gravity, Looper, The Hobbit, Moonrise Kingdom (almost forgot), Skyfall (maybe), Avengers I GUESS and probably more I'm forgetting/don't realize yet.
am i the only one looking forward to moonrise kingdom?
HOW WAS TINTIN NOT NOMINATED FOR BEST FILM?!?!
It was a very very plain narrative. It had fucking stunning visuals but if it was live action it wouldn't be worth mentioning.
I just want gary oldman to win an academy award really. Then even more of the dark knight rises cast will be academy award winners yeaaa
THIS must happen
Holy crap, I thought "Midnight in Paris" was awful, I didn't think it was Oscar material at all.
How is Hugo a nomination, that was damn terrible movie
Holy crap, I thought "Midnight in Paris" was awful, I didn't think it was Oscar material at all.
Still better than Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close.
am i the only one looking forward to moonrise kingdom?
Yeah that'd be one that I forgot
The Artist is going to win because it's an old people movie, and old people movies are what the Oscars are.
Nobody reply to whoever that is.
[editline]25th January 2012[/editline]
of that it really is Oscar bait.
Why should you care about the oscars while watching a movie?
Why should anyone care about the "recognition" it gets.
Give Woody allen an oscar.
just so he can stay home and not pick it up.
Also, i'm quite surprised the Artist was even considered.
Hugo was a really nice movie too, i liked that one.
...did you just notice the super hero movie fad?

That's why batman is such a hit, its different.
I am glad the Tree of Life got nominated. Usually in movies that try something very technically and artsy are seen as pretentious don't get nominated. I hope it wins. And Clooney better win for Descendants. So much subtlety to his character in that film that it made the film great, but it was great none the less. Also I guess Take Shelter was to indie or something to get nominated for anything. It was the movie of the year.

The Master by Paul Thomas Anderson is going to be a pretty good one too, about a scientology-like cult with Phillip Seymour-Hoffman being the leader.
I'm glad Paradise Lost 3 got a mention. Spreading awareness of such wrongfully convicted atrocities is the best for those boys.
