South Korea enacts chemical castration law against child sexual abuse

This is against human rights. It's quite clearly cruel and unusual punishment.

you may be surprised to note that South Korea does not in fact use the US Constitution as the basis for its laws.

You have the Constitution of a country and then you have common sense and the Natural Laws.

I think the UN declaration of human rights has a lot of the same things in it
As long as it dosn't mess up the user in the long run, I'm fine with it.
If it does, they need to find a way of doing it without messing the patient up.

uh they could always not do it
uh they could always not do it
How do you suggest stopping them from commiting the crime then? Sticking them in prison for the rest of their lives?
How do you suggest stopping them from commiting the crime then? Sticking them in prison for the rest of their lives?
well we could start by not chemically castrating them
How do you suggest stopping them from commiting the crime then? Sticking them in prison for the rest of their lives?
If that's the only way then yeah that's the only reasonable solution
well we could start by not chemically castrating them
Answer my question. How do we stop them from hurting innocent people?

I'm pretty sure Sanius dosn't like the prison system. I agree with him on that, which is why I'm for this, it'll lower the number of inmates.

i'd honestly think that life sentence would be more inhumane than this

by rehabilitating them
we don't chemically burn off the hands of thieves and murderers so there's no justification for chemically castrating child molesters

It's a possibility. There are always going to be a handful of people who can't be rehabilitated though, and we need to do something about them.

no there aren't and no we don't
no there aren't and no we don't
What about serial killers?
Trust me, those guys are insane.
yes I should trust the opinion of a person making assertions about a scientific field (criminal psychology) that he has no experience in

What experience in criminal psychology do you have?
yes I should trust the opinion of a person making assertions about a scientific field (criminal psychology) that he has no experience in
Have you heard anyone in that field say otherwise?

I'm sorry but how the fuck does chemical castration not fuck with you?
Do you know that
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Castration
"Castration (also referred to as gelding, spaying, neutering, fixing, orchiectomy, oophorectomy) is any action, surgical, chemical, or otherwise, by which a male loses the functions of the testicles or a female loses the functions of the ovaries."
Thus knowing that your entire ability to have children ever is GONE.

As I said, if it does (which I now realize it does), they need to find a way of doing it without fucking with you.
As I said, if it does (which I now realize it does), they need to find a way of doing it without fucking with you.
that's like saying they need to find a way to kill you without killing you
that's like saying they need to find a way to kill you without killing you
If I raped a bunch of people and they said they'd rape me back, or castrate me, it sure as hell would fuck with me quite a bit. Even if I had it coming.
This should only be available as an option for convicted child sexual abusers as a condition of release, not something that's mandatory
This is actually a really good idea.

Chemical is supposed to be reversible.

Ahh don't mind my ignorance then. Still, I'd be a little bothered.

Uh...
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chemical_castration
Chemical castration is the administration of medication designed to reduce libido and sexual activity, usually in the hope of preventing rapists, child molesters and other sex offenders from repeating their crimes. Unlike surgical castration, where the testicles or ovaries are removed through an incision in the body,[1] chemical castration does not actually castrate the person, nor is it a form of sterilization. For this reason the term "chemical castration" has been called a misnomer.

Huh. Did not know that.

I even posted it in the fucking OP

Nice job ignoring this post Sanius.
How do you suggest stopping them from commiting the crime then? Sticking them in prison for the rest of their lives?
Thing is, it probably won't stop them from commiting the crime again or a similar crime.
