South Korea enacts chemical castration law against child sexual abuse

Good future days to come huh?
Still, legalizing the ownage of child porn has way too many bad consequences.
I think you should read this, it shows pretty convincingly that having porn readily available makes rape a lot less common.
Here's one of the graphs from it, porn started becoming available around 1972, and the number dives pretty sharply once the internet was easily accessible.

Except to make child porn you need to abuse a child, making it readily available will just make the abuse of children go up.
If a person is found in possession of child porn they should be sent for mental treatment to help them overcome it.
Legalising material like this would be the worst thing to do. I really doubt it'd stop people from grooming and abusing kids, in fact it'd probably cause it to happen even more.
]
Not necessarily. Seems more like, as Nerts said, it could decrease rates by giving pedophiles an outlet for their desires so they don't grow sexually desperate to an extent that they become much more likely to carry out child sex crimes.
the chemicals they use for it cause loss of bone mass
I bet :smug:
Besides, depression is to be expected when your junk stops working, and ED seems logical to expect as well. Can't really expect to get a boner when you don't have working testicles, and what would you use it for if you could? I find it hard to sympathize with somebody who rapes children. I suppose no side effects would be best, but I'm not angered by the fact that there are side effects of the chemical.
You can just fap to your imagination.
Except to make child porn you need to abuse a child, making it readily available will just make the abuse of children go up.
People who molest kids and film it are far in the minority, if a handful more do that but the number who don't halves the way normal porn has done, less kids are being abused.
It's actually shocking reading these posts. You're not only trying to defend paedophiles - you're giving reasons to legalise watching it? I can't even begin to understand the thought process behind these ideas, possibly because there isn't any.
If you're defending paedophiles or child porn you're on the same level as those who are actually committing the crimes.
On the topic of the thread, chemical castration is a horrible idea. They should be castrated with an axe before castrating their head.
What a sickening thread.
Plus you can draw child porn too, so there's even less abuse.
Castrating rapists and then just throwing them out in society would probably have horrible outcomes. There is much more than just sexual reasoning behind raping someone, and taking away their sexuality would only cause them to get more angry and frustrated at society and the world and it could end up im massmurder, shootouts and terror attacks.

Yes but child porn involves the abuse of children, you just can't make that readily available
Plus you can draw child porn too, so there's even less abuse.
You could draw it and not call it child porn, which is happening right now.

Yes but if a person buys child porn they are essentially funding an illegal industry when we're supposed to be trying to eliminate it.
Plus this argument is essentially the "sacrifice a few for the good of many" argument.
Drawn on the other hand is fine, but I cannot condone the use of actual child porn.
I find you sickening, I'm trying to think of things that reduce both the abuse of children and mistreatment of prisoners and you're suggesting axe murder.
The only thing you're trying to do is legalise getting your rocks off to kids.
I find you sickening, I'm trying to think of things that reduce both the abuse of children and mistreatment of prisoners and you're suggesting axe murder.
There are better solutions than legalising child porn though.
Except to make child porn you need to abuse a child, making it readily available will just make the abuse of children go up.
Well the abuse of children would go up if people were purchasing more child porn and funding its production, which is why buying cp should clearly be illegal, but I think what Nerts is saying is that the act of viewing cp should not be a crime in and of itself, because if someone just downloads it for free then he's neither funding it nor contributing to supply and demand, so there's not really any actual harm done that you could reasonably send someone to jail for. That said, I agree that giving mental halp to those found with cp is a good idea.
You're proposing people to accept and tolerant masturbating to minors.
Why is this only being applied to pedophiles. Surely if this is going to be done it should be applied to all sex criminals.

The act of viewing it should have you sent to a mental institute to attempt to remove the desire rather than satiate it
You might find this odd coming from me, if you've perhaps seen one of my earlier posts defending pedophiles as "people with a sexuality they did not choose to have". However, I am still highly against Pedophiles who act out on their sexuality, and therefor I'm not opposed to this move by South Korea. I might change my mind depending on how severe the side-effects are, but unless they're too grave this seems like a rather proper punishment that is still more humane than normal castration.

One thing is defending paedophilia. Another thing is understanding it or looking for the reasons as to why it happens.
Also, you're a fucking hypocrite.
You're proposing people to accept and tolerant masturbating to minors.
I'm not. I'm simply saying that a system that sends people who have done no tangible harm to jail for many years is far from a perfect system.

As I've said before, there is alot more than just sexuality involved when a man decides to rape somebody, especially a youngster. Castrating him would only take away his sexuality but would contribute to all the other factors that made him rape the youngster in the first place, and may have him do other even more horrible things. Castrating the rapists and then sending them out in society again is a very, very dangerous thing to do.

I agree that people who view child porn should not be sent to jail, however they should neither be tolerated and instead it would be far better to attempt to help the individual eliminate or control their desires.

Yeah, they should rather get help, but I meant that post for nerts.

I wasn't aware that the castration was meant as a option to jail time, rather than as an addition to the jailtime.

If it would be an addition to the jailtime then that would be completely pointless.

There was an interesting reply to the article on the site:
What will they do when the offender is female? The problem with this law is that sexual abuse, all sexual abuse, is not about sex it is about power. People have been abused using objects and other body parts OTHER than a penis.
Regarding the discussion of child porn.
I think real child porn should be illegal, to produce it requires a victim, to spread and posses it encourages abuse of more victims.
I think loli/shota should be legal, for the same reason violent videogames are legal. There are no victims, and even if they actions portrayed are illegal it is still just fiction.

Chemical castration is basically deleting the existence of the testicles without physically removing them.
Do the same for the ovaries, and done.
