The kids aren't just pulled off the street, most of them are victims of human traffickings.
Nope, mostly they're family members or relatives: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Child_sexual_abuse#Demographics
Consider it this way: Illegal to view, 1000 kids are raped in making CP, 83,000 are raped by individuals with no production goals. Legal to view: 5000 kids are raped in making CP, 50,000 are raped by individuals.
Again you're using the sacrifice a few for the good of many, which is ethically very wrong. [editline]25th July 2011[/editline]
Nope, mostly they're family members or relatives: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Child_sexual_abuse#Demographics
I'm talking about child porn.
Again you're using the sacrifice a few for the good of many, which is ethically very wrong.
The alternative is more children raped. I can't possibly support that.
Again you're using the sacrifice a few for the good of many, which is ethically very wrong.
Taking the moral high ground instead of doing something to actually help is very wrong.
It sounded like you were for legalising child porn.
I'm for the decriminalization of looking at child porn. it's despicable by most moral standards but there is no victim. the only victims are in production and distribution which should remain illegal in most cases
The alternative is more children raped. I can't possibly support that.
We should crack down on the paedophiles rather than satiating them
The alternative is more children raped. I can't possibly support that.
Look, the statistics that are supposed to show the amount of rape going down with porn getting legal may not even have anything to do with eachother. That statistic of denmark legalising porn in 1969 showed that rape was getting more and more rare after aswell as before porn was legalised. Porn may have nothing to do with it.
We should crack down on the paedophiles rather than satiating them
We arrest people for even a hint of pedophilia, people are shunned by the whole country if people suspect they're a pedophiles, there's at least one case of jail time for someone who just looked at drawn images, etc... We already are cracking down on them. It doesn't work.
We should crack down on the paedophiles rather than satiating them
Because that worked so well for alcohol, weed and terrorists.
Taking the moral high ground instead of doing something to actually help is very wrong.
We are doing things to help that don't involve the making of child porn, and we could do a lot more if we rehabilitated them rather than arresting them.
It's not supporting the sacrifice of anybody. Ideally, the child pornography that exists now would be made illegal, and then nothing would be produced from then on, and all pedophiles would then use the child porn instead of molesting kids. But it doesn't work quite as flawlessly as that. But that is why we would still go after the child molesters. Those +4000 kids that were raped to make CP would probably have been raped anyways, just without there being made child porn of it. Actually, if every single child molester made child porn every time they molested children, it would be incredibly easy to catch a lot of them... o.O
Because that worked so well for alcohol, weed and terrorists.
None of those things are comparable to CP. [editline]25th July 2011[/editline]
We arrest people for even a hint of pedophilia, people are shunned by the whole country if people suspect they're a pedophiles, there's at least one case of jail time for someone who just looked at drawn images, etc...
It's not supporting the sacrifice of anybody. Ideally, the child pornography that exists now would be made illegal, and then nothing would be produced from then on, and all pedophiles would then use the child porn instead of molesting kids.
You're being very, very hypocrytical.
You're assuming that the amount of children raped for the production of CP would be lower than the amount being raped at the moment.
Yes, indeed. I base my entire argument off of that premise. If it is demonstrated false, I will probably change my mind a great deal. However, all other instances of prohibition, on all sorts of topics, indicates prohibition has the exact opposite effect of what was intended.
Not really.
Yes really. These people are fucking children.
I can't believe this is STILL being discussed! there is no two ways about this ridiculous debate! Fucking sick cunts.
Yes really. These people are fucking children.
You've missed a whole thread. [editline]25th July 2011[/editline]
I can't believe this is STILL being discussed! there is no two ways about this ridiculous debate! Fucking sick cunts.
What's your suggestion then?
Yes, indeed. I base my entire argument off of that premise. If it is demonstrated false, I will probably change my mind a great deal. However, all other instances of prohibition, on all sorts of topics, indicates prohibition has the exact opposite effect of what was intended.
But there is no way of demonstrating that without the possible harm of more children.
None of those things are comparable to CP.
You can compare anything to anything. And those comparisons were even reasonable. We tried hard to purge alcohol; mission failed We tried hard to purge weed; mission failed We tried hard to purge homosexuality; mission failed I don't think anyone has ever been able to completely purge something we ddidn't like at the time.
You're assuming that the amount of children raped for the production of CP would be lower than the amount being raped at the moment.
You're assuming that there would be more children being raped if it was legal. I have provided some sources and examples against that assumption.
But there is no way of demonstrating that without the possible harm of more children.
Child porn was legal not too long ago, I think as recent as the 70s. It's very difficult to get accurate crime statistics on the internet from that time period, however, so I can't really effectively present that information.
What's your suggestion then?
I'm not sure there's anything to suggest? This entire thread has been in attempts to legalise something supremely disgusting. I suggest you drink some cyanide - that's the only thing I can think of. (User was banned for this post ("Trolling" - Starpluck))
AngryChaiR you are the worst poster I've ever seen.
Except none of those things hurt anyone else ecxept the user (except homosexuality which hurts no one)
Drunk drivers' victims would like to have a word with you.
From the thread title I assumed they were dipping people's balls into acid... Until I read on.
Except none of those things hurt anyone else ecxept the user (except homosexuality which hurts no one)
Terrorists hurt no one except themselves? That's a new one on me.
Drunk drivers' victims would like to have a word with you.
Then again, alcohol has been part of human culture since ages.
AngryChaiR you are the worst poster I've ever seen.
If by worst poster you mean not defending child porn enough, yeah - you're correct.
Child porn was legal not too long ago, I think as recent as the 70s. It's very difficult to get accurate crime statistics on the internet from that time period, however, so I can't really effectively present that information.
Japan can be used as a good example, where child abuse is really low, and child porn posession is legal.
Drunk drivers' victims would like to have a word with you.
Drunk driving is very much illegal. [editline]25th July 2011[/editline]
Terrorists hurt no one except themselves? That's a new one on me.
Why where you even using terrorism as another example? It has no similarities with the child porn situation.
