You really gotta give Fidel credit for the last sixty years or so.
Fidel Castro was already hardcore, leading revolutions, running a country for sixty years with us on his back, slaying zombies. This makes him super-hardcore.
You really gotta give Fidel credit for the last sixty years or so.
It takes a lot of cigars and plenty of beard strength to live this long.
Fidel Castro was already hardcore, leading revolutions, running a country for sixty years with us on his back, slaying zombies. This makes him super-hardcore.
yeah all those hard-core human rights abuses.
yeah all those hard-core human rights abuses.
look at the way he had dissidents tortured what a bad ass
Sure it's not the worst country in the world, but it's definitely poverty-ridden. When I went to Cuba, I felt like everyone was working below average pay. Even a communist country like Romania in the 80's was far better off than Cuba today. I really don't see how you can say that it is the "best communist country".
You can thank the United States for their poorness, with their crippling embargo they had for absolutely no reason. Besides, compare their "below average" pay to the price of living. It's actually pretty good. For example, Cubans don't have to worry about their healthcare. At all. [editline]26th January 2012[/editline]
reminder that cuba is not a poverty-drenched hellhole and it's pretty much the best communist country. (this does not excuse its human rights abuses)
I'd say the US has far more human rights abuses then Cuba ever had. [editline]26th January 2012[/editline]
This. I've been to Cuba twice and the place is pretty good to live in (even saw Fidel in person, from a long distance). If the US would remove the blockade there'd be either a peaceful or violent revolution, but either way the country would be better off for it. The trade blockade just enables Castro's regime to stay in power.
Uh, support for Castro was always rather high. Plus he was the reason Cuba isn't a US supported right-wing dictatorship. You're complimenting the success of Cuba, but insulting the man who brought that success.
Wonder when Fidel is gonna die?
Why exactly did you include this part? If you're talking about that one case where the eleven year old shot and killed a pregnant woman while she was sleeping, then he pretty much fucking deserves it. Age shouldn't be an excuse, pretty much everybody (including those who are eleven) know it's not acceptable to kill people.
Lol Eleven year olds do not fully understand the consequences of their actions
Wonder when Fidel is gonna die?
Sometime in 2500 [editline]26th January 2012[/editline]
Lol Eleven year olds do not fully understand the consequences of their actions
The American Justice system is absolutely archaic and draconian.
I'd say the US has far more human rights abuses then Cuba ever had.
Like? Credits if it does not involve the whole "HURR ALL SOLDIERS ARE EVIL" thing.
"Newt Gingrich, said he would authorize increased covert operations to bring down the Cuban government." Welp so much about our secret operations in Cuba. Way to go Newt, now they know who to blame. I hope he understands that the world watches our TV stations to.
We shouldn't have a blockade on Cuba. Fidel has done some bad stuff in the past, but we've supported worse people.
"Newt Gingrich, said he would authorize increased covert operations to bring down the Cuban government." Welp so much about our secret operations in Cuba. Way to go Newt, now they know who to blame. I hope he understands that the world watches our TV stations to.
It's been known for decades the US empire has been trying this shit. Sometimes their methods come close to terrorism.
I bet we'd hear a lot more of Fidel's crazy rantings if he didn't have all dissenting reporters imprisoned. I'm also pretty sure that none of the Republican front-runners advocate taking a machete to Obama's testicles, though I haven't read Santorum's platform in a while.
That tends to happen when the US invests in 'reporters for hire', paying people to say anything. Cuba might as well be under siege with the harassment and attacks it deals with.
Like? Credits if it does not involve the whole "HURR ALL SOLDIERS ARE EVIL" thing.
CIA /nuffsaid "enhanced interrogation techniques" would probably be the most common argument.
I'd say the US has far more human rights abuses then Cuba ever had.
Uh, are you joking?
Uh, are you joking?
Guantanamo? Oh wait that's in Cuba so it must be Cuba's problem right? What about water-boarding? Oh wait that took place in foreign countries so it must be their problem? On a more serious note, no country is clean with regards with human rights so lets not get started.
reminder that cuba is not a poverty-drenched hellhole and it's pretty much the best communist country. (this does not excuse its human rights abuses)
good joke
CIA /nuffsaid "enhanced interrogation techniques" would probably be the most common argument.
That is an abuse but is no where near as bad as Cuba. [editline]26th January 2012[/editline]
Guantanamo? Oh wait that's in Cuba so it must be Cuba's problem right? What about water-boarding? A human right abuse, yeah. Not as bad as Cuba though. 2. Which has been outlawed. 3. See above.
That is an abuse but is no where near as bad as Cuba. [editline]26th January 2012[/editline] 1. A human right abuse, yeah. Not as bad as Cuba though. 2.
Oh, when did you move to Cuba to become such an expert on what is "not as bad as Cuba"?
Cuba's human rights abuses are well documented.
Guantanamo? Oh wait that's in Cuba so it must be Cuba's problem right? What about water-boarding? Oh wait that took place in foreign countries so it must be their problem?
"Shit, you want to talk about the Holodomor? Well, I got an answer to that, buddy. Trail. Of. Tears. Answer me that, fascist!
that was in the ukraine, not cuba.
that was in the ukraine, not cuba.
I am aware of that. [editline]26th January 2012[/editline] Considering the incredible amount of rhetoric you pollute this forum with I just assumed you'd be aware of the concept of the analogy.
That is an abuse but is no where near as bad as Cuba. [editline]26th January 2012[/editline] 1. A human right abuse, yeah. Not as bad as Cuba though. 2. Just because something is outlawed doesn't mean that it wasn't a human rights abuse - look at the Europeans and Slavery for example. What has human rights got to do with Castro's comments on the GOP anyway?
I am aware of that. [editline]26th January 2012[/editline] Considering the incredible amount of rhetoric you pollute this forum with I just assumed you'd be aware of the concept of the analogy.
yes i am very familiar with the concept of a strawman but nobody was excusing the Holodomor. to say so is dishonest.
I love Castro, he's the kind of guy who would make for a really cool grandpa.
