who cares about html 5 when xml is already here
Uhh, how is xml related? Can it even embed videos without external plugins?
It would be cool to have a touch device and playing flash on it while in bed.
Get a MID?
I don't like Steve Jobs.
I like him for two reasons: Without him, Pixar wouldn't exist. And without him, the iPod wouldn't have been invented. Those are the only two things that I can actually appreciate.

Those are the only two things that I can actually appreciate.
iPods are decent, but they are very overpriced. Once you can get over aesthetic reasons for buying one, they actually aren't much better than your average Mp3 player. Some people would say they're worse, my old piece of shit Mp3 players from 5 years ago still work, I know people who have gone through 3 iPods in that time, since they just don't seem as durable. On top of that, all the thieves and pickpockets are specifically looking for iPods since there is always a market for them.
Just go with the Ipad Nano The iPhone It's cheaper, has more uses

And my iPod just broke, so I may end up getting an iTouch.
I know I'm going to get dumbs for this but christ people just because it isn't a Windows-based computer or a Zune doesn't mean it's fucking terrible
I love Windows but I have to agree with him.
The only Apple product I like are the iPods and iPod Touch. I've used a Macbook and yes, i fucking hate it. It's "simplicity" comes at the cost of user interface. It won't let you do anything it doesn't want you to do, sorry, I'm not 5, I'd like to have full control of my computer.
I've never understood this. I've been able to do everything I wanted bar 3 things from the GUI in OS X. The three things I couldn't do from the GUI I did in Terminal. It might not show you it's functionality but it's there. Macs come with a fuckton more useful shit whether you are a dev or a casual internet user than a PC.
The iPad just got worse?! How can it be?
They should just sell a flash app for like $50. Then thousands can download the cracked version for free.
They should just sell a flash app for like $50. Then thousands can download the cracked version for free.
Adobe and Apple don't like each other. That's why there is no flash, it isn't because some bullshit battery crap, it's simply because Adobe doesn't care for Apple. [editline]07:19PM[/editline] On top of that Apple sees that HTML 5 is coming out, and they just said "fuck you" to Adobe.
Jobs is acting really silly. For the first time he's actually made a completely shit of a product, and now he's trying to lie and make it seem better than it really is to try and save a gimmick. What was he thinking though? The economy already is in the hole, so he decides to waste time and money by making the iPad. He should have actually done something revolutionary that people might actually buy.
Why would a company intentionally make a shit product? He probably thinks it's going to be innovative.
Why would a company intentionally make a shit product? He probably thinks it's going to be innovative.
That's the problem with Apple though, they don't do much customer bonding to figure out what people really expect out of a product. I love my iPod Touch, but if anything Jobs just got lucky on the iPhone/iPod Touch because it was never done before. If anything, right now he should be listening to what buyers want and try incorporating some of these suggestions. Look what happened to Vista. Microsoft really saw how much of a flop it was and fixed a lot of those problems in Windows 7 and made it even better. I don't favor one side over the other because of brands, but more-so who's making the right decisions.
People don't really know what they want though, on paper UAC was an awesome idea, it was just implemented poorly in vista. On top of that it's not like you can't watch videos at all on the iPad, youtube has a HTML 5 beta going on as we speak. People are naturally resistant to change, companies sort of have to force them into situations to get them to try new things. Take World of Warcraft for example, before it, blizzard mostly made semi-popular RTS games, and they tried something new and huge numbers of people loved it. Also, Apple has some fanatical fans who will buy anything they make.
The only practical use for the Ipad is giving hambeasts with fat fingers a means of punching in keys easier.
Jobs is only in it for the money now, not the product itself.

The iPhone is essentially some big buttons and scrolling with a finger and not scroll bars and took them 3 years to make it, but it was amazing when it came out, and I bet at the time you could never have envisioned such a thing. And if you bitch hard enough at Apple they will eventually do it, ala copy paste, MMS, DRM etc etc.
It hasn't stopped tons of people from buying iPod Touches and iPhones. What do you think makes this any different? Non-techy people won't care. The "i" in my name doesn't mean I'm in love with every one of their products.
Well for one this is supposed to be a Netbook/Laptop (more netbook but whatever) replacement, not a phone. I don't get on my phone to watch youtube videos, I get on it to call people and text. And I get on a netbook or laptop to do actual work. So people don't expect a phone to watch youtube videos, but they expect a laptop to be able to watch videos. Which this doesn't do. And for the record, there is not one person with reasonable intelligence that calls themselves techy because they know what flash is and how to use it.
Another thing I should add is this thing is going to be very comfortable to just sit in a chair and use recreationally, but personally and I know a lot of people will say this but even though i have an iPod Touch, don't think I'd pay for one. Even if I didn't, I wouldn't; and $500 for something infinitely more fragile than the iPod touch that I have already broken before would probably not be worth it. They already made things dangerous with the MacBook Air that could practically snap in half with a strong gust of wind; I can't see the iPad being too resilient by itself.
Coming soon in March. iPad V2. Flash Supported and Extended Battery life. $800.00

You'd never know how restrictive Apple's OS's are until you do, and frankly... I just hate the way it works. It isn't that good, and I have never been given solid reasons as to why any of them are any good. Especially now.
HTML 5 is right around the corner. Who the fuck cares?
HTML5 will never be a miracle replacement for 3rd party plugins.. Sure it can play video (Well as soon as they settle on a format). But theres simply some things that 3rd party plugins such as Flash does better (webcam streaming, games etc) Also around the corner? Last i heard the final release of the HTML5 standard wouldn't be before 2012.. And the adaption is estimated to be fully complete in 2022..

Apple is probably secretly pushing for it's official release.
