the reboot of medal of honor.
1/3 of the story had you playing as a generic infantryman
I wouldn't really call Rangers generic infantrymen
Story seems lame tbh, i'm really sick of generic military stories. Focus on what makes Insurgency so great, the multiplayer.
I think I'd rather see a decently written military story about a central location instead of globetrotting special ops or generic near future WHAT IF TECHNOLOGY IS TURNED AGAINST US
i love playing this game
if they keep everything the exact same, and just update the way everything looks, i'll love playing that game too

generic infantryman compared to TIER 1 OPERATOR ROGER SIR in every single other modern war game.
Playing through the start of the Iraq war to near present day sounds pretty cool honestly.
I mean can you actually imagine a serious military game without the DUBSTEP FLASHING BLUE BRRRRRR or ARMA level of jankiness? Even Spec Ops The Line was overly dramatic.
Insurgency's coop mode is actually really fun and tense. There's no dramatic music or Sargent Man shouting in your ear. It's just ambiance, gunfire, and occasional objective updates.
I remember the alpha days were by default all talk was enabled, and then running into a room with an RPG yelling ALLAH HUACKBAR and killing 6 dudes putting everyone on the edge for the rest of the match.
Can't wait to see it on UE4
Why are they making singleplayer for this? Insurgency is a 100% multiplayer game - it's what its all about.
That aspect is going to be such a waste of their time and money.
I'unno, could be rather interesting to have a relatively sober un-embellished story set during the Iraq invasion. Plus it hopefully means improvements to the AI, as I do rather like the coop modes.

All I remember was being an edgy little 12 year old firing an RPG into the spawn TKing everyone.
The newest Medal of Honor wasn't very well received but it had a pretty good single-player campaign. It was more grounded and realistic than RAMIREZ THERE'S A NUKE AND YOU HAVE TO SAVE THE PRESIDENT. It's easy to yawn at yet another modern Middle East shooter, but I've never seen one that was closer to Black Hawk Down than Tom Clancy. So I have high hopes for this.

It says it will take place from the Invasion of Iraq to the present, which makes me think the player characters will join a PMC and have to deal with the rise of ISIS

Or redeployment to Afghanistan.
What are you doing that you can't get a decade+ old engine to run well?
Source is terrible when it comes to handling more complex things, because it was never designed for it.
Try joining a populated GMod RP server, or even just a complex map with an i7 6700 + GTX 980ti system, and it'll still run like shit; because it's not the hardware's fault

In all fairness Garry's Mod is a resource whore to begin with, but yeah. Source is a dated engine that is showing its flaws. I'll be intrigued to know whether or not Sandstorm will feature vehicles in the same vein as Project Reality.
It's so odd, the version in UE4 looks much less vivid at least on that development screenshot even having more complex geometry
And you expect UE4 to run better?
The Unreal Engine has always ran well. for me at least, there was a point where I couldn't run HL2 above 40 FPS, but was getting 60+ in UT3
Also depends on the developers.
