The majority of Facepunch just doesn't like Cruz and Rubio because they don't support LGBT, free health care, raising the minimum wage, legalized drugs, and really any progressive social policy that contradicts traditional christian values. Additionally they support gun rights. I personally don't care about LGBT, I guess it's easy not to care when you aren't the target of irrational hatred want a health care system based on capitalist ideals and competition, "I want poor people to continue suffering and dying." The fact the Americans continue to oppose universal healthcare is borderline insanity to someone with a well functioning healthcare system. think that wages should be adjusted solely on inflation, They haven't been, that's the problem. Rubio wants to keep the status quo, even though according to the department of labor, minimum wage would need to be about $8/hr to equal regan era america, and about $11 hour to equal 60's America. 3/4 way down don't want legalized drugs, and don't really give a shit about social progression. I believe in lenient gun laws and an aggressive foreign policy that calls for an expansion of our military. Personal opinions i disagree with, but can't exactly attack. Although you can really see the old "Temporarily embarrassed millionaires" chestnut in that second point. I'm not religious, but people like Cruz and other Republicans might justify their traditional values by citing God or the bible or whatever the fuck and that doesn't really bother me. They should appeal to moderate Republicans because they represent a lot of what the GOP stands for. Trump on the other hand is an absolute lunatic. The man is a complete wildcard and is completely unfit to be a leader. Unpredictability and power combine to create fear, and the idea of Trump in office scares me. I'm also concerned that Trump could return to being a liberal once elected.

Sanders is closing the delegate count gap.
No, he isn't. He won 49 delegates and Clinton won 60. He's 11 further behind than he was yesterday.
Louisiana Primary: 71.1% Clinton; 23.2% Sanders
Yeah Sanders is basically the guy just running for the sake of it at this point. People keep pointing to pledged delegates and how it's "close". But Sanders will never deliver the kind of landslide against Hillary in states where it will matter. That gap will never close.
Yeah Sanders is basically the guy just running for the sake of it at this point. People keep pointing to pledged delegates and how it's "close". That gap will never close.
As it's been said before, I think we should withhold judgement on Sanders until he starts battling for the northern states with mostly educated white voters. We already know that Hillary has conned the majority of African American voters in the south. [editline]6th March 2016[/editline]
But Sanders will never deliver the kind of landslide against Hillary in states where it will matter.
Not with that attitude he won't.
Additionally they support gun rights.
This is about the only "right wing" thing FP supports.
Hey folks- if you live in or near Michigan, now is the time to start REALLY pushing campaigning or something. MI is a big state and Hilary's got the lead. See what you can do, if anything
Yeah Sanders is basically the guy just running for the sake of it at this point. People keep pointing to pledged delegates and how it's "close". Stop pretending you know how this is going to play out
This is about the only "right wing" thing FP supports.
There's absolutely nothing "right wing" about access to firearms. Wanting to restrict firearms is an authoritarian position (Not that there's something inherently wrong with something being authoritarian in nature. Making murder illegal is also authoritarian.)
Sanders went up 3% on FiveThirtyEight's on track thing to 85%: http://projects.fivethirtyeight.com/election-2016/delegate-targets/democrats/ Cruz by the way is at 67% yet somehow it's more likely he will beat Trump? Sanders is still in the running, Sanders still stands a chance; I don't think anyone is disillusioned here into thinking it's got it in the bag, but the continuous defeatist attitude isn't really accomplishing anything.
Yeah Sanders is basically the guy just running for the sake of it at this point. People keep pointing to pledged delegates and how it's "close". But Sanders will never deliver the kind of landslide against Hillary in states where it will matter. That gap will never close.
Gee, I wonder why:
Registered on the deadline for my closed primaries in Louisiana. Voted 2 hours ago, Bernie was in quotation marks and near the bottom of the list, with Hilary at the top. Closed primaries are pretty shitty though, unnecessary restrictions. My dad didn't register as any party so he wasn't able to vote Trump. I had a few independent friends that didn't realize they couldn't vote for Bernie which is kind of ironic as they were the types to preach about how bad our current voting system is. Only was aware of a few of the other candidates that all preceded Bernie, didn't know they were still in the race.
What really lends credence to this is notice how "Other" got 5.7% of the votes in Louisiana; who else is even running in the Democratic primary?
So today we have the Republican primaries here in PR. Don't know anyone who is voting or cares but we have around 20 something delegates to give The local Republican leadership supported rubio so he probably has the biggest chance of winning.
Alright, got an internet friend of mine in Maine to get up and vote for Sanders. Seems like he might win the state too. (Unless I'm missing something)

Ideally, there really isn't anything liberal vs conservative regarding this topic, but in the US it's considered a conservative stand point because the GOP is for guns and the Dems are against it when it's perfectly plausible for the roles to be reversed.

It's considered a conservative standpoint because from a Constitutional point of view gun control is an illegitimate role of the federal government.
It's considered a conservative standpoint because from a Constitutional point of view gun control is an illegitimate role of the federal government.
ya but they also consider it not a role of the local government or the state government sooooo thats an issue in of itself, when they can they override local gun ordinances, and when states pass gun control measures, they use the courts to override those.
It's considered a conservative standpoint because from a Constitutional point of view gun control is an illegitimate role of the federal government.
It's also due to demographics. Those in the country and lightly populated suburbs tend to have more guns than those living in highly populated cities. Those in the country and lightly populated suburbs tend to be more conservative/GOP than those living in the highly populated cities who tend to be liberal/Democrats.
a dose of reality =/= shit posting lol. His post is perfectly fine...
Super Delegates can change on a whim, Delegates can not as they're bound by the popular vote. That said, lumping in Super Delegates just gives the impression that nobody should bother to vote, because the Super Delegates will choose the victor for them. You're basically telling people "Hillary will win no matter what you pick", and while that's starting to look true in both Delegates and Super Delegates, it still reinforces the idea that your vote is worthless and you shouldn't bother voting. And that's not really a message that needs to be sent in a country where voter turnout is staggeringly low.

Rubio's performance has been shockingly bad. Doesn't make any sense to me. [editline]6th March 2016[/editline] Maine being called for Bernie already, he's up 30% [editline]6th March 2016[/editline] http://graphics.latimes.com/election-2016-maine-results/ 76% reporting, 64% for Sanders, 35.8% for Clinton
Bernie is killing it. He basically made Hillary admit that she is okay with using the middle class to bail out billionaire industry.
Holy shit Bernie is vicious tonight.
I go to the movies and miss THIS?!
bernie makes me hard
Bernie literally said white people don't know what it's like to to be poor. Holy shit is this guy for real. Is this what being triggered feels like?
Bernie literally said white people don't know what it's like to to be poor. Holy shit is this guy for real. Is this what being triggered feels like?
I mean I love the guy but his answer on how white people don't know what it's like to live in the ghettos is leaving a sour taste in a lot of peoples mouths... uh oh
I mean I love the guy but his answer on how white people don't know what it's like to live in the ghettos is leaving a sour taste in a lot of peoples mouths... uh oh
Yea, easily the dumbest thing to say during a debate. I don't like Hillary or anything, but she is such a better speaker and debater than Sanders. Then just said he was poor growing up and didn't even think of college, ahahaha this is ridiculous, I thought white people didn't know poverty.
Bernie literally said white people don't know what it's like to to be poor. Holy shit is this guy for real. Is this what being triggered feels like?
Yeah that's gonna bite him unfortunately. He was on fire before, too.
The way Hillary has been speaking during this debate, she'd fit in better on the Republican stage. Secretary... Secretary please... Secretary... We're going to go... Secretary...
The way Hillary has been speaking during this debate, she'd fit in better on the Republican stage. Secretary... Secretary please... Secretary... We're going to go... Secretary...
Secretary-pai, please stop, I can't, I'm going to commercial!
Bernie literally said white people don't know what it's like to to be poor. Holy shit is this guy for real. Is this what being triggered feels like?
he was talking in the context of a ghetto, he talks about white poverty all the time
