I don't see much of a point in 4k monitor. My monitor is 1920x1200 and at standard healthy distance, you can't really see individual pixels anyway. [editline]7th January 2014[/editline] I mean, I get it for big TVs and shit but desktop monitors, nah.
It can benefit desktop monitors in two different ways. It would allow for a higher DPI. This way, you could either scale images on screen for sharper images so fonts and rounded edges look smoother. Sort of like what tablets/phones are doing. Or simply give you more desktop space. Of course, that would means Windows would have to fix its shite scaling system.
I'd be willing to wager that if we were back in 1994 then we'd be debating the usefulness of 1080p.

At first glance, you would think that was a modern recording until you saw the ancient biege CRT computer monitors on the judge's desks. That and everyone's flamboyant 90's attire.
Sony, PLEASE, don't abandon your DSLR market!
dslrs are what sony do worst though lol
dslrs are what sony do worst though lol
Shhh, it's ok; you just wish your Cannon has Zeiss lenses. In all truth, their DSLRs are pretty good; and their sensors are in a lot of other cameras too. I just wish they would release a new line with some newer sensors that can compete with the current gen Cannon's.
I don't think most people want a TV that big.
The panel size is the damn same. It's the pixel density that's improved.
MiniDV is 480i, and does not even come close to a mid grade 720p image.
Progressive scan is possible (same with 24p, just depends on camcorder) and I've seen the quality, you can literally record off the tape, put it in a 720p time line and render as 720p and it would look fine.
480p on MiniDV is possible.
It's really just 30frames in a 60i container. As far as I know progressive isn't natively possible in DV. It's always in sort of workarounds.
This is great for pushing the entertainment industry into making film and TV in 4k and actually releasing it into the public.
