Its even more annoying at school when everybody buys bottled water from the canteen
There are fucking fountains EVERYWHERE
My old School removed fountains so it could make money off kids buying 600ML bottles for $4. Until the parents complained.
I haven't taken a drink from a school fountain ever since i saw a kid piss in one, also who fucking knows who was putting their face on it, i've actually gotten sick from drinking from one of them, this kid in front of me in first or second grade took a drink, and placed the entire spout of the fountain in his mouth, me being a little kid, took a drink anyway, and i got extremely sick for a week over it, the other kid was already sick before he did that.
I never put my mouth near the things, you have to get the fountains with good range so you can just launch water into your mouth
Except most of the fountains have the water pressure of a deflating water balloon and hardly dribble out of the things
People shouldn't be buying bottled water anyways.
Here where I live, the water is undrinkable. There's a lot of chalk(?) in the water, and it sometimes even has a smell of sulfur. Whenever I drink some of it, I feel really sick in the stomach.

Tuckshop sells these big jumbo water packs because the fountains often break down or don't produce any water at all and there's only 2 stalls and the 2nd one is on the oval
but the only use I've seen for them in summer is poking a hole in the lid and having mass water fights in eating areas

Buy some water filters, they are pricey at the start, but are cheaper long term.
You guys have never been around the people who explain it's because the tap water tastes worse apparently. That's bottled waters gimmick.

Impossible. I'm living in a student's home thingy.
Reminder that bottled water is just purified tap water.
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/3523303.stm
Purified tap water, that then sits around for a few months in plastic bottles, while the plastic breaks down and several parts of the plastic get dissolved into the liquid.
Everyone in Aus buys bottled water, which is sold at $2.50+ per 600ml bottle. Although for a 24 pack it is only $15
Never seen anyone buy bottled water here, except when they're out. Maybe they do it in Perth, but not on the east coast.
It's nothing like it is in America, where bottled water is bought in mass.
work in construction and tell me that bottled water is dumb
bottled water is dumb
So what? There is perfectly good water in the taps, why why why do people buy 'still water'? Even worse are the people that buy the really expensive stuff despite those huge water coolers at work, since when did drinking water become a trend? Instead of a quid on a bottle of designer water that has been flown from who knows where, drink one helping a day from the taps and give that quid to OXFAM or someone who struggles to provide drinking water to the developing world, while we import teh stuff in disposable plastic bottles, shameless!

my god its a sensible high rated comment on the daily mail
I buy bottled water because I want to. Same reason I drink soda even though it's not very healthy, it's because I want to. I could save money buy not buying soda or bottled water and just shoving my face in a puddle outside but I would rather just buy bottled soda and water, and I just get really entertained when people respond with "omg look at these stats it's the same as tap water!" because it really depends on where you live and the quality of the water in your area.
I take a 1l bottle with me whenever I go out anywhere for longer than a couple of hours. It usually lasts the day but some days like yesterday had me go through 2 litres of the stuff easily, which meant I had to buy some. It's a convenience if you run out without anywhere to refill (toilets seldom count).

I guess it is just a Perth thing then, never been to another state so I wouldn't know.
Here's a top tip, by law all tap water anywhere is drinkable unless there is a sign saying "not drinking water"
People shouldn't be buying bottled water anyways.
But the fluoride! :tinfoil:
Here's a top tip, by law all tap water anywhere is drinkable unless there is a sign saying "not drinking water"
Except in countries like egypt.
Bottled water is an insane waste of money, it's basically tap water sold back to you at a 1000% markup. Nobody should be buying it.
Here's a top tip, by law all tap water anywhere is drinkable unless there is a sign saying "not drinking water"
And if you're in a restaurant then make sure you ask for tap water. Ask for water and they'll bring you one of those ridiculously expensive glass bottles.
Except in countries like egypt.
I was only talking about the UK, when i said anywhere i meant any public place
You guys have never been around the people who explain it's because the tap water tastes worse apparently. That's bottled waters gimmick.
If anything, I think it tastes worse; kinda stale from being bottled for so long instead of being fed fresh oxygen in the fall from the tap to the glass :v:
People shouldn't be buying bottled water anyways.
No one does in Norway so the price per litre of bottled water is ~5 dollars. :v:

For people who live in the country with older wells, like i do, bottled water does taste better and is actually healthier to drink.
My first house, in very northern Maine, was built in the 50's iirc. When they put the well in, the chain fell in the well. After years and years, it started to get a bit of an iron taste in the water.
Second place, still a bit in the country and has a well. Every time it rains, the water turns very murky and brownish. When it isnt raining, it still has an off taste to it.
Ive been buying bottled water for years now. Its usually $3 for 24 16.9oz bottles, but sometimes i do find the 20oz bottles for the same prize. Better than drinking irony water or murky brown water if you ask me
I only drink bottle water, sometimes I cook with it too, because I live in a heavy fracking area
I only buy gallon jugs though, so hopefully the plastic/water ration isn't as bad
Who cares? You should only buy bottled water for the bottle, not the water. And if I'm correct the UK has decent tap water.
I still can't believe people buy bottled water. It doesn't come from a spring, it isn't any cleaner than the water from your own tap. The plastic bottle itself is more valuable than the water and that isn't worth anything
Get your own bottle, fill it at home
But where do I get a bottle?

This. Where I live you can sometimes smell the natural gas that seeps into the water when you turn on the faucet. If i'm drinking tap water, it has something in it like tea or koolade. Even with one of those filters that attach to the faucet it still tastes like shit. This is why you can find a 24 pack of bottled water on sale for like 2 bucks.
The water in my flat tastes like shit unless I stick it in the fridge. And then it tastes like shit when it warms up after taking it out.
So bottled water solves that problem.

you shouldnt be able to smell natural gas unless a gas pipe is leaking, it's odourless
you have a gasleak
