welcome to Chechnya 2.0, now with more collateral damage and extra war crimes
This war is one thing, once it ends the area is going to be a giant shitfest
pretty sure the same can be said for iraq/syria/kurdistan, yemin/suadi arabia, and many places around the russian federation, turns out forcing arbitrary lines through cultures and little over half a century of brutilization with a hint of fundimental ideologies, can really cause some major problems. maybe the 21st century is the age where boarders are chosen by the people living along them instead of the people behind them, but it'll come at an extreme price in human suffering to put an end to petty land grabs
The chechens are obviously everywhere and everyone to gain experience and once they go back home, fuck up everything.
Kinda like ISIS before 2012, when they fought Assad, the US, Iraqi forces, Etc

Sorry but I think the chechen wars still win there.
Type "grozny" into google and it will auto complete to "most destroyed city on earth" and for war crimes you'll have to look into it yourself but you'll find that rape and murder were much more prevalent.

Not sure what it is about these guys but they seem pretty well equipped/or organised, maybe its just the technicool silencer, beret and sun glasses. I wonder where they get their money from.
Ukrainian army is funded by the gov, rebels are funded by cossacks, oligarchs and/or russia, the independent pro ukraine militias are funded by the oligarchs (Dnipro Battalion received millions from ihor kolomoyskyi, Oleh Lyashko has his own private military force and also funds the Azov battalion ) I wonder who's helping these guys out.
funded by cossacks
What? Cossacks are essentially just a local militia with some historical flavor, it's not that they have any extra money or anything. They could fight there, but funding is not their forte.

Hmm fair enough. I saw they were providing aid to some of the eastern provinces and that they were also fighting there and assumed if they're united enough to provide aid and have shown interest in the conflict there they might have also provided support/funding/supplies to the fighters. Sorry for jumping to conclusions.
If Russia had any consistency or a shred of truth in their foreign policy, Chechnya would be an independent nation the moment Russia invaded Ukraine.
Why would it? There's no movement for independence there right now, and it's one of the most peaceful regions in Northern Caucasus. Probably because most people who fought 'for independence' during the first Chechen war decided that they better go try their luck in the Middle east and Afghanistan, like true freedom fighters and patriots they are.
For everyone who thinks Chechnya should've been let go in the 90s, well, sure. But it should've been also physically moved somewhere else, because there wouldn't be a lot of people content with having Terrorist Training Camp: The Country to be anywhere near them. Bear in mind, I think that the means used to bring order there were excessive and disturbingly often outright criminal. There still was no way it was getting independence and becoming a failed state crawling with Islamists.
Christ it's so painful how so many people are shitting themselves over the fact that Chechens help Ukraine.
BUT THEY'RE EVIL ISLAMISTS, no they're just tired of Russia's shit. They're not fighting for islam.
Chechens have been helping Ukraine since the start of 2015
