The Last Months of Lucasarts: Insight into what the studio was doing (New gameplay videos of what co

Watch as there will be a massive flood of starwars kids games thrown into the market by shit developers that disney licenses all over.
I wish some sane studio buys it and just does the polishing and releases it.
I reaaally really wish.
That battlefront 3 gameplay
there is no god
Now that I see what could have been, it's even more sad.
Wasn't Battlefront 3 like 99.9% complete? And someone here on FP actually worked on it?

Not 99.9%, more like 80% (Textures still missing etc, but everything works)
Not the original video, but

I am really sad now. How many more games are they gonna kill? There hasn't been a nice Star-Wars game for a while...
My brows are at maximum furrow.
Now if only they'd release the source code for BF3 like Raven did for JK2, but I doubt that'll happen.
Hah I remember the times of playing Battlefront 1. Now I wish I didn't give it away to my friends kid :P
well done didney, you just lost yourself a ton of money.
Disney is now worse than EA in my eyes
My worst nightmare is Disney killing off all the many Star Wars mods being made for different games like the Mechwarrior Online developers did to Living Legends.
If Disney wasn't a god damned mega corporation, there might have been a chance that somebody could pick some of this up from them. As it stands now though, probably only a few of the giants could wrestle it out of Disney's hold. The fact that they think they're upholding some moral responsibility to the world is one of the most annoying parts of this travesty. Oh well...

I was soo happy when I saw it in the charity shop for a £1. It is always installed on my pc now. Still very fun to play even againist the a.i. shame no one plays it now :'(
Even if they did not have any amazing games recently, Star Wars Battlefront 3 would have had amazing sells. 1313 looked like it was a really decent game too.
Looks like. Aliens Colonial Marines also looked like it was the greatest thing ever and look how that turned out.
This thread is filled with people that are complaining how Disney is stupid because they closed LucasArts while they were making games that looked like they were gonna be good. Again, looked. LucasArts hasn't made a game in almost 10 years. The last Star Wars games were published by them, not made by them.
Looking at it from a corporate point of view, this was a smart choice. It just wasn't turning out the profits that it should. And even if the Newtown massacre had anything to do with it, it was a matter of understanding that LucasArts was a burden to Disney when they could have made better stuff by handing out the licenses to other companies.
1313 may have looked like the next coming of Christ, but we never will see if it played as good as it looked. Looks can be deceiving after all.
Listen, am I pissed that Disney did this? Yes. Am I pissed that they were doing stuff that I thought was gonna be the shit? Yes. But I'm not going and saying they are the devil, because, again, LucasArts hadn't been doing anything for a long time. Heck, 1313 was a game about a random bounty hunter until George Lucas bobbed in and said "no, now it's Bobba Fett".
And you all forget that Disney isn't stupid. These games may not be in production by LucasArts, but nothing says Disney can't go around, find a good developer, and get these done, especially if they notice that a Battlefront 3 would sell like hotcakes. Besides, statements like these
Disney is now worse than EA in my eyes
are just stupid.
Come on guys.
Jedi knight, Rouge squadron, battlefront, empire at war, republic commando, KoToR.
So many great star wars games, for a while it started sucking sure, force unleashed and Kinect, but just as soon as we get another great game on the way, this happens.
I bet they cancelled Jedi knight 3 and Republic Commando 2 as well.

KOTOR was BioWare, buddy. Empire at War was Petroglyph. Some of Rogue Squadron was by Factor 5.
Star Wars Kinect was another company.

But now we may never know.
I'd much rather play Colonial Marines and be severely disappointed than never find out.

Not talking about Lucasarts, just star wars games.

Well, yes. But never finding out also plays in the fact that it's unfair to call Disney the devil.

Being a Star Wars game has no relation to whether it sucks or not. It's all about the developer.
Wall of text
If they actually license people to do Star Wars games then that would make my statement invalid, but otherwise Star Wars video games are gone
Them saying this:
In January, a month after the massacre in Newtown, Connecticut, Disney’s Iger came out and said they would be taking a close look at the violence in their video games.
Makes it seem like they won't make any violent Star Wars games or license them out.
Ever since Disney screwed with the horrifying, twisted, original design of Epic Mickey, I haven't trusted anything in the games industry they put their hands in.

I kind of agree with you there.
It is a bit unfair to outright just say they're pure evil but damn i sure am pissed at them.

Dude, good games don't have to be violent. Good Star Wars games, especially. Republic Commando was a bit violent, but it wasn't HOLY SHIT BLOODS N' GUTS N' GORE WE'RE SO MATURE.
Also, it's Disney. Even if they don't believe video games lead to violence, can you imagine the amount of shit they would get from stupid parents if they released a violent video game?
Yeah its pretty infuriating but beyond that they just lost a bunch of money by cancelling almost finished products.

1313 looked like the second coming of christ.
Also any unlicensed stuff like mods are probably going to be shut down with disneys track record.

I never said the game had to have blood and gore all over, hell that isn't even a staple of Star Wars due to lightsabers and blasters cauterizing the wounds.
I am saying that they might not make/license games like Dark Forces, Battlefront, or RC anymore since they may consider those to be violent.

It's the same level of violence as G.I Joe. I doubt it.

I don't think anyone really wants a Star Wars game that violent. 1313 looked more Mature than the other recent Star Wars games, but what we saw wasn't really violent (No blood or anything like that) - but it still seems like it might have been too violent for Disney.
I can see something like Battlefront 3 being too violent for them.
Honestly even if it was shit I would have bought it

1313 was more mature because you were going really deep into Coruscant.
You know, where the drug dealing and sex trafficking happens.
