Rockstar finally reveals Max Payne 3 release date - March 2012

I so thought it was going to be GTA V when I saw the shortened thread title:
"Rockstar finally rev..."
Cannot wait to shave my head on release day.
The un-noir Brazil setting and the lack of Sam Lake writing this has me doubting.
And multiplayer sounds very unnecessary since Max Payne's story and atmosphere is what makes the series so great, for me at least.
But hey, it's R* and the gameplay should be fun and the flashback segments set in Noir New York should own.
Hey I like how everyone loved GTA4 multiplayer and were all excited when there were rumors about it and now people are bitching good job A+
ye well because GTA is so much about just fucking around running over peds and shooting cops. something which is great fun with friends.
max payne on the other hand is experiencing a dark, gritty tale of this man, max payne, with nothing to lose and slowing down time and doing shoot dodges and listening to monologue something which isn't plausible in multiplayer so...
I love Max Payne 2, but this looks like shit
The multiplayer better feature that leveled defense mode
My main concern is just that what we've seen of the setting doesn't seem to go with the neo noir style of the series - to be honest, they could have kept it in Brazil but just changed it all to nighttime and I would have been appeased.
It'll probably be a fun action game nontheless.
Fucking stupid multiplayer which isn't needed, and moving away from the max payne noir feel, fuck you Rockstar i used to like you.
Oh man. Rank and unlock system along with clan features.
Won't be buying it unless it has Jeep product placement.
Max Payne 3 looks very different from the first two. But I have a feeling RockStar is very aware of one of their best games' development. I have trust in them, and this dramatic change may even be the best decision they ever made. Besides, at the end of the day, Max Payne is primarily a 3rd-person shooter. As long as it accomplishes being good at that, I won't have a problem.

that's quite a relative statement. personally, i enjoyed the story and the writing way more than the shooting. i can play any decent tps, i can't get the story anywhere else though
Except for the fact that these are differant developers working on them.
You do know rockstar isnt one thing right? its got differant places?
YEAH and every time they've tried multiplayer it's been GREAT.

Also I'm not sure why people think NY is grittier and darker than the favelas of Sao Paulo but ok
5 bucks says everyone here who is bitching will eat their words when the game comes out.
This better not end up as yet another 3rd person shooter.
Max payne has always been a TPS.
Multiplayer in Rockstar games is always stupid as hell.
They should stick to singleplayer games, GTA IV didn't sell 20 million copies because of the multiplayer.
I only still play EFLC/GTA4 multiplayer, I don't really play the single player.
Same thing with RDR.
Their multiplayer has pretty much always been brilliant and I don't see what you people are bitching about.
The game will either be awesome or terrible, try judging it once you've actually played it. :downs:

You mean when Rockstar North/Rockstar San Diego did it, that doesnt mean max payne's will be good.
Still looks like shit.
Is it Rockstar North developing this game?
Nope.

I like how everyone knows exactly how the game plays from a few screenshots.
I'm not talking about just screenshots, nice assumption.
You mean when Rockstar North/Rockstar San Diego did it, that doesnt mean max payne's will be good.
No it kind of does because unless you can tell me something associated to Rockstar that has been bad ever, ever, there's really no reason to assume that this will be.
Also it's funny how people think GTA doesn't closely mimic film noir just because it doesn't always use low-key lighting, or that they don't know that the most well known film noir classic took place in fucking Morocco.

I never said this game will be bad.
Also what, GTA really isnt noir.

GTA4 was more of a subdivision that would more likely be called Modernistic Noir Character Study.
:v:

hmm, you have a point, but the other like, 11 games (including the episodes and the 1960's london packs) arent :v:
Why is everyone saying that it's moving away from the Noir style?
I might just be missing something, but all i've seen so far is a few released screenshots. How can you honestly tell anything from that alone?
March. That's my birthday. Hope it's on the 4th.
That would be so awesome to have a Max Payne game released on my birthday.
Still kind of nervous about how it will turn out, but still excited, hoping for the graphic novel scenes to return.
